I recently got netgear genie for iOS so I connected to my extender(WN1000RP) then opened the genie app and it said that I wasn't connected to a netgear device so I tried with the online site but I got the same results. When I was first setting the extender up it would connect with netgear genie fine. Hope you can help!

Netgear has put out a lot of different "genies" over the years, and frankly I can't keep them straight.

If the extender is working ok, then I'd just put the genie back into the bottle, and connect to the extender using the web interface.
