WN3000RPv2 mac filtering issue
Hi
I am new to this forum and I have just joined as I am currently having an issue or maybe just a question in regards to the Wireless extender is subject.
I have tried to configure this with my router which has all worked in the end after several attempts of failing to Bridge with my router until I found that my mac address filtering list on the router (Billion Bipac 8800NL) was the cause of the Bridge not engaging.
I have tried to research through both my router and this extender manual but there is nowhere saying that mac address should be disabled on a router for this extender to bridge with this.
I have even tried to add the extender mac address to the router mac address list but this does not help as systematically disconnect the extender as soon as the mac list on the router is enabled.
If no mac list is enabled in the router the netgear extender connects to my router just fine but I am a bit disappointed as dont really want to give up mac filtering.
I have updated the Netgear firmware also.
Question is, this should not be a problem in 802.11 standard?
Is this extender having a limitation or whatsoever or is the router?
The router manufacturer does not mention that mac address list will cause an issue when pairing via WDS.
I have also posted a question in the Billion Forum where hopefully I will get an answer form there also.
Thanks for your help and opinions

Re: WN3000RPv2 mac filtering issue
I think the main reason why you have to disable the MAC filtering on the router first is for easy configuration. In order for the extender to connect successfully on a router with MAC filtering is you have to add the VIRTUAL MAC address of the extender. If you disable the MAC Filtering for some routers it will automatically be detected so all you have to do is add the Virtual MAC. Else if you have to figure out what the extender's Virtual MAC address which you still have to compute. For computers or other clients that you will connect to the extender you have to add the virtual MAC as well which starts with 02:0f:B5.
