Windows IP address conflict
I have a time warner cable modem hardwired into a Netgearrange extender WN3000RPv3, My computer is hardwired into a second WN3000RPv3. I did this beacause a friend in the IT industry suggested I do so for best performance. I see on the forums that these extenders impose a 25% penalty on "performance". Is my settup unneccisary? Furthermore the reason I started looking at the forums is because Windows is inundating me with a "Network Error" prompt. It states that there is another computer on the network with the sameIP address. My friend suggested I restart everything and this should solve the issue but it has not. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Windows IP address conflict
It's not ideal to have a wireless extender connect to another wireless extender. Each extender imposes a 50% speed penalty to its wireless clients. Therefore, wireless clients connecting to the second extender will experience a 75% speed penalty. But this rule doesn't apply to wired clients, so your computer will only see a 50% speed penalty.
As to the IP address conflict, are all of your devices set up to obtain IP addresses dynamically or are any of them set up to use a specific IP address?
