With the introduction of the 802.11ax wireless standard, or Wi-Fi 6, one of the future improvements you can expect is extended battery life for mobile and smart home devices with Target Wake Time (TWT). TWT allows your AX router to communicate with your client and IoT (Internet of Things) devices, communicating about when and how often they will wake up to send or receive data. Since devices aren’t constantly searching for data signals, battery life greatly increases. This feature will allow more efficient data transmission and less interference & access contention, giving you more available bandwidth for additional devices on your network. As more and more smart home devices enter the home, the need for an efficient home network becomes vital. Not only do we need our network to support those connected devices, our network needs to support data-intensive apps as well. How does Wi-Fi 6, or 802.11ax, technology help? Features like Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) and 8X8 MU-MIMO help play a critical role to help improve efficiency and capacity. What is OFDMA? OFDMA allows your router and devices to use bandwidth more efficiently by reducing the time between data transmissions. As a result, more bandwidth is available for other devices and apps in your network. By reducing contention, you’ll have better bandwidth utilization, a substantial increase in efficiency and reduced latency. What is 8X8 MU-MIMO? Wi-Fi 6 routers supports up to eight simultaneous streams, or the number of users than can be served at the same time. By having multiple WiFi streams per band, the amount of data the router sends to and receives from devices increases because of more available bandwidth and less congestion. With Wi-Fi 6, the future of Wi-Fi has arrived, and soon enough Wi-Fi 6 supported devices will begin to enter our homes. By leading the New Era of WiFi, NETGEAR’s AX Routers will help prepare your home for the multiple devices and applications that will soon make way to your network. Wi-Fi 6, or 802.11ax, is the next generation of wireless standard, succeeding 802.11ac (Wi-Fi 5). With the increased number of connected devices entering our homes, Wi-Fi 6 technology addresses your home’s need to keep up with the volume without affecting performance. By providing improved network capacity, your wireless experience will be smoother and more enjoyable with ultra-fast speeds, greater coverage, reliable connections. As NETGEAR entered the Wi-Fi 6 world with the introduction of NETGEAR’s AX Routers, the Nighthawk AX8 and Nighthawk AX12, we look to lead the new era of Wi-Fi. These high-performance routers provide improvements in throughput allowing more data to be transmitted per data packet, multi-device support, and Wi-Fi spectrum efficiency for streaming, gaming, and media sharing. For homes with Gigabit internet, the recently announced Orbi Wi-Fi System with Wi-Fi 6 not only will benefit from the same features, but it will also help provide Gigabit Wi-Fi coverage across every room of your home. Additional features include: Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) Multi-User MIMO Data Efficiency with 1024 QAM Target Wake Time Dual-Band Technology Backwards Compatibility with Previous Wi-Fi Standards To learn more about Wi-Fi 6, please visit: https://kb.netgear.com/000059637/How-is-Wi-Fi-6-different-from-Wi-Fi-5 To learn more about NETGEAR Routers with AX Wi-Fi: https://www.netgear.com/landings/ax-wifi/RAX80 vs R9000 vs Whatever
Hi! I recently upgraded my internet to Gigabit and my R7000 just isn't up to the job. I've been looking at the RAX80 (AX6000) and the R9000 (X10). They are the same price. I'm struggling to make a decision. It seems like the AX80 is newer and might be more future proof, but the X10 seems to have more features. I chatted with Netgear support and they just sent me to the "Compare these products link", not info otherwise. Quite a few people suggested the R78000, but if I'm going tp spend $200, I'd rather spend a little more and get something that isn't three years old. Is the AX8 the spirital successor to the X10? Here are the things that are important to me: - Wired speeds. I'd like to get as close to Gigabit speeds as possible - Future proofing. If I'm going to spend $400 on a router I want it to still be relevant in a couple of years - Features. The X10's Plex server and fiber connection sound interesting, but not sure I'll ever use them. - Range Extender. I have a fairly large house and would like an accompanying range extender (I have an EX7000 now). - As silly as it sounds, the AX80 looks betterRAX80 Firmware V1.0.1.56_1.0.23 needs work!
Not even sure where to post this since my model number is RAX80. Anyway, the QOS sucks, and the DHCP must be screwed on firmware Firmware V1.0.1.56_1.0.23. Or the http interface doesn't update if you hit refresh. Tried to call tech support to tell them problems with the firmware but I get level 1 telling me if I tried resetting the router. 1. If I set QOS to Highest it some how resets for the device and even changes the label i've assigned to it. 2. Problems with my smart devices because the iptables must not update correctly for wired devices. 3. Labels assigned with edit button on administration/attached devices wont save for some reason. Bought this new router cause all the advertising says it can handle more smart devices, seems to crash all the time. I'm ready to to send it back.NETGEAR Nighthawk AX8 8-Stream AX6000 WiFi

I purchased a Nighthawk AX8 earlier in the week and everything has been fine up until today where I cannot join any parties. The moment I try to connect to a party, not only does the Xbox One X disconnect from wireless, but so do any devices on the wireless network at that point in time. I've had Cox reset the modem and I've done factory resets on both the Xbox One X and Nighthawk AX8, the issue still persists. If this issue can't be resolved, I'm at the point where I'm going to return the router.Nighthawk RAX80 very unstable - losing connections
Hi all, I've bought the RAX80 six weeks ago and it's been very unstable since then: - devices losing wifi connections - devices not seeing the wifi network - RAX80 losing internet connection (orange led) I did resets to factory settings several times (with rebooting modem, RAX80 and all the connected devices). I only use default settings now - with Smart Connect enabled. No extra wifi6 settings like MU-MIMO. But nothing works. After a few days all the problems above come back again. I'm very disappointed in this 300 euro router. In times like this with working at home en schools closed losing wifi and internet connections is very frustrating. Is there something I can do about this problem - except for returning the RAX80? Thanks
