So my AX8 will just drop the strength to all of my devices for no reason. I noticed it more since i began streaming games from my PC to my iPad. I checked the the signal strength in the app to my devices and it was one bar on everything (all wifi devices though show strong connection on the devices themselves). I found that doing a speedtest kicks the router in the butt and seems to get things back to a tolerable level for a little bit. See the screenshot to see the before, and then immediately after running a speedtest. Any ideas?1.4KViews0likes5CommentsNighthawk AX8 firmware update wifi issues
So I complete a firmware update yesterday and now the system can't recognise the 2.4 and 5 G wifi. I also have many smart devices connected and now they don't connect properly. I see a new smart setting which will allocate devices to which wifi they will connect to but this does not work either. firmware version V1.0.5.126 APP version2.10.5.17 Any ideas as I can't get support from Netgear.1.9KViews0likes5CommentsImages slow to load early morning
Images on my Facebook newsfeed slow to load early in the morning. Typically 5am - 8am. It happens sometimes during the day, but only for a few minutes. Is it most likely Fios, or Nighthawk? When I do a speed test on my iPhone while it’s happening, internet download speed is about 60-80 mbps. Should be at least 200mbps503Views0likes0CommentsX8 R8500 + EX8000 or Orbi AX6000? Which is best?
I currently have an X8 R8500 but we still have some dead/weak spots in the house so I have a few questions for those more familiar with Netgear. Will the EX8000 work with my X8 R8500 to extend? How about the EAX80? Would it be better to get the Orbi AX6000? What would I gain or lose between the Orbi AX6000 vs the X8 + EX8000? How about the EAX80 instead of the EX8000? I am always up for upgrading but the Orbi price tag is a bit steep. At the same time, I'm concerned about losing some usability with the consequences of the backhaul using the R8500 + EX8000 set up. I'm guessing that one of the 3 bands gets taken up for backhaul tasks. The EAX80 is listed as dual band so it seems it would be even more impacted. I know I could run CAT 6 for the backhaul but that wont be an option for a while and may not be an option for some areas. I have read up on these mesh systems and extenders a bit but I'm just not sure how these in particular would work together and how it would compare to the Orbi AX6000. If keeping the R8500 and extending off of it with one of those extenders didn't cause a reduction in services and I'm not missing much by not taking the opportunity to upgrade to the AX6000 I would consider keeping it. If the AX6000 was enough pure improvement, I would consider it. Your thoughts, opinions, and education are greatly appreciated.2KViews0likes4CommentsNew firmware for AX8 1.0.1.56 available and not good results
Updated to the new firmware and it lowered my Wi-Fi speed. I have Comcast blast 250 Mbits. With 1.0.1.40 I was getting 300 Mbits down and with new firmware my speeds lowered to 50-70 Mbits. Back to 1.0.1.40 and speeds are back to 300 Mbits.Solved7KViews0likes16CommentsPort fowarding for AX80
