hi there, my situation: ----> INTERNET ---> FRITZBOX ----> RBR40 (router mode) ----> WIFI DEVICES (my phone) | DLNA DEVICES so at my FRITZBOX (network 192.168.178.X) i have several devices which provide DLNA services. since i use the ORBI WIFI my mobile devices are no longer able to find these DLNA devices when scanning the local network. for example: if i start VLC on my mobile i can scan the local network. there i should find several devices which provide DLNA, for example, SONOS, my NAS, MEDIA SERVER and so on.... but NONE of them were found since i use the ORBI. is there any way to fix that ?????? thanks, michaSolvedHow/where does Netgear Genie gather media attributes?
When I am using the Netgear Genie as a DLNA server, all of my media (music, pictures, videos) have Unknown album, Unknown artist, etc. In Windows, when I view the Media properties, I can see values there. So, my question was where does the Netgear genie pull those values? Thanks!3.9KViews0likes3CommentsReadyShare DLNA Server Disconnects during music streaming
Hi, I have connected a Seagate Backup 2T USB drive to Netgear CableModem router (C3000) to serve as media server. On the player side, I connected a Marantz NA8005 network music player to the router wired via ethernet. The player is able to see "readyshare DLNA: C3000" server initially, and I can browse the folders, and play music. However, after 5-10 minutes, it will stop with a message "server disconnected". At this point, I am also not able to browse the media folder from my PC. The only way to recover is to restart the router. It will then function properly for 5-10 minutes before server get disconnect again. Any suggestions on what I need to do? -ed4.5KViews0likes6CommentsNeed a wifi extender capable of DLNA
I'd like to find a wifi extender to replace an existing router (upstairs) configured as a repeater bridge for my ISP's router (downstairs). The existing repeater is either buggy or somehow not compatible with DLNA because DLNA broadcasting doesn't seem to work (ie, my DLNA server, hard-wired to my ISP's router, cannot see my smart Tv which should be broadcasting as a DLNA renderer). I've read that repeaters or extenders do need to create a "bridge" that is compatible. I'm considering the Netgear EX6200 as it appears to have what I need but it's difficult to research the issues around DLNA. The replacement also needs to replace the functionality of the existing repeater, which serves upstairs computers for Internet access and as a gigabyte hub for computers and a NAS. The EX6200’s installation instructions also state that it should have line of sight access to the primary router, which would be a problem for me and which needs to be evaluated. Any insight into Netgear products as they might pertain to my needs would be extremely appreciated. Cost is an issue but I'd much rather purchase the correct hardware than waste my time.4.7KViews0likes3Commentsproblem with netgear R6100 ReadyShare with WD My Book 2TB to Sony TV and PS3
I have recently upgraded my Router from a lynksis wirless N router to a Netgear Wireless AC 1200 (R6100). With it I purchased a WD My Book 2 TB HDD for use as a NAS Device. Everything was working fine until about a week ago I had some trouble uploading a file from my Win10 PC to the drive via the network. Afterwords I could not access the drive from any of my families 3 windos PC's (Win 7SP2, 8.1, and 10). I could still acces the drive via DLNA through my Sony Bravia and my PS3. I did a power cycle of my modem and router and from then on I could access the drive from my computers but not through the Sony TV or PS3. I have removed the corrupted file from the drive, as well as the previous upload (law and order season 20). I have cycled the power on my WD Drive as well as edited all of the network settings through the netgear genie, the TV and the PS3. I have not reformated the drive since I don't have the space on my computer for all of the files (1.6TB worth of files, 500GB free space on my PC).
