The Nighthawk M1 network IP address setup currently allows either dynamic DHCP address assignment within a specified range or fully manual assignment of static IP addresses to wired or WiFi connected devices. However, it's not currently possible to enable DHCP addressing within a specified range together with some additional manually specified static IP addresses. This is a problem where some devices in the network need static addresses, such as printers, but where automated dynamic addressing is needed for "visiting" devices on the network. I currently have DHCP enabled in my M1 but this means that when my networked printer is powered up it's often allocated a different IP address, so to print from a networked PC I first have to access the browser interface to the M1 to find the IP address and then go into the PC's control panel to modify the address in the printer port setting. Could the firmware / interface be modified so that DHCP can be enabled but at the same time allow some static IP addresses to be specified for printers, etc. so that they can always be located by other networked devices? If anyone else feels this would be a beneficial feature, please add your comments. The mobile network provider that supplied the M1 to me is EE in the UK (there's no option to specify MR1100EE¦Nighthawk LTE Mobile Hotspot Router (UK) in this post) but I guess that the US and Australian firmware also has this "either/or" limitation with the dynamic and static IP addressing.Nighthawk M1 FDD Bands blocked by STC Carrier!
Dear NETGEAR moderators, We are using NETGEAR M1 in Saudi Arabia. All FDD bands were deliberately closed by STC. We only have a 2300 frequency (BAND40) and it’s very weak in Saudi Arabia. We kindly ask you to assist us in removing the unjust frequency blocking. By helping us change the IMEI or update the firmware to solve the problem.M1 (MR1100) needs battery to update firmware
My suspicions expressed at the end of this post seem to be confirmed - apparently you currently need a battery installed in the M1 in order to update its firmware. If this is correct, it's a big problem for people running their M1 solely on the mains charger, especially if the M1 is in a remote, difficult-to-access location. I believe the firmware needs to be changed so that if the M1 is being run without a battery, using a sufficiently powerful mains charger (see the link in the next paragraph) then firmware auto-upgrades should be allowed to proceed. If you agree with this proposal, please hit the Kudos button - it may draw attention to this post. I'm using my Nighthawk M1 (MR1100) without its battery, powered only by an upgraded mains charger for 24/7 internet access at home. This morning I found I had no internet connection and the LED on the M1 was flashing orange rapidly but dully. I decided just to turn off the power, wait a few seconds and then turn it back on. This probably wasn't a good idea - it would have been better to try to shut it down by holding the M1's power button in until it shut itself down "gracefully" - I guess I could have "bricked" the M1 if it had been in the middle of a firmware update. Anyway, after powering back up, thankfully the LCD screen then displayed a progress bar and a message similar to "Updating - do not power off". The progress bar moved fairly rapidly but when it reached 100%, the LCD screen went blank and the orange LED started flashing rapidly again. I'd noticed previously that in the web-based interface under Settings > Adminstration > Firmware Update, there was an advisory note saying "Software Update unavailable when battery level is below 20%", so I suspected that running the M1 without a battery might cause issues when it tried to auto-update the firmware. I inserted the battery (already charged to around 70%) without turning off the mains charger and the LCD screen again displayed the progress bar with the warning not to power off. This time, the progress bar didn't move smoothly to 100%, it jumped in stages and each time the LCD screen went blank for a while. When it reached 100%, the M1 appeared to reboot, possibly more than once, but eventually the normal LCD display returned and the LED was flashing blue as ususal. When I checked the web-based interface, there was a message stating that the software had been updated successfully. Prior to the update, my M1 was on firmware version NTG9X50C_10.20.05.00. It's now on NTG9X50C_10.22.03.00, which has a build date of 22nd Nov 2017. I'm in the UK and my provider is EE - it's possible that the firmware version numbers differ from country to country. I've no idea what has changed in this firmware version - on a quick glance through the interface, I don't see any new options so I guess the changes were bug fixes. Unfortunately, there's no new option to stop the Ethernet port going to sleep when running on the mains charger without a battery. However, this feature wasn't promised until Feb. It would be very useful if Netgear published a firmware update history on their site, even though they are not providing the firmware itself for downloading. At least we could then see what had changed. If you agree with me on this point, I ask you again to hit the Kudos button. Thanks.AC797 firmware
Hi, I have a 797 card which seems to work out of the box pretty well. However when using it for zoom calls it's got an unpleasant habit of dropping and rebooting every 10-15 minutes. I've tried to check what the latest firmware for this card is bit can't find anything and neither will it let me update through the web portal. Please can anyone advise the latest firmware (mine is NTG9X40C_30.00.10.13 If anyone has a later firmware please can they share the file for upload.DC112A Firmware Update or No?
Got an email from Netgear US on October 1, 2018 reporting a new firmware needed for the DC112A "We've Enhanced Your Product's Security Please Update to the Latest Firmware." It provides a handy link to download the firmware that it really just a redirection to a guide on HOW to update the firmware. However, the webUI reports no new firmware available on any of my 3 DC112As (all on V1.0.0.34_1.0.60). No firmware is available for download on the device support pages either. The email references "Latest firmware version: v1.0.0.40" but it is nowhere to be found and Netgear has not responded to email. Any idea where I can find this update? Or a changelog of the update so I can decide if it is worth the effort?SolvedNighthawk M1 - selection of LTE Frequency/Band
Hello there, is there any way to select the LTE Band/Frequency the router should log on to? This would really help to avoid switching from a "good" cell to a bad one. With Huawei Routers I can do that using a third party tool. (LTE Watch). Unfortunately this is not available for Netgear Routers. Thanks for your comments!Nighthawk M1 MR1100 - Remote WAN Admin?
Hi Folks. Are there any plans to allow for remote WAN admin on a Nighthawk M1 MR1100? Presently it does not seem to support this, or DDNS for that matter. We are using remote IP cameras with this router via port forwarding which works great, but we're using the camera's own DDNS service and we can't login to the Nighthawk remotely. And we are using the telstra.extranet APN to give us this remote access for port forwarding to work. Incidentally, in earlier firmware versions you could login remotely on port 80, but it would seem this was then closed in further firmware updates. It's a great router but full remote access to monitor the unit and/or adjustments would be even better. And DDNS support too please! Thanks. PCSolvedNetgear M1 reboot issue Resolved!
Netgear M1 reboot issue Resolved! i found the real problem that relates to router reboot "randomly reboot" was from your country network band , Tut: 1- go to admin page 2- sign in 3- go to settings 4- go to advanced settings 5- go to Cellular and scroll down 6- select your network manually 7- now in Cellular page the Band region is Automatic by Default Change it to "LTE ALL" 8- reboot your router 9- nothing ;D have a nice day :) byeNighthawk M1 Ethernet Port Timeout
Hi, We have a M1 Router which we are testing before purchasing more. Everything that we use if for seems ok with one exception. The Ethernet port seems to go in to some standby mode after reboot or a period of being disconnected and reconnected. The workaround for this is to press the power button which wakes the device up, however this will not work for us. This same behaviour happens after powering on the device for the first time. I.e. I must power on the device, wait for it to start up and then touch the power button again to get the Ethernet port to work. I've looked in the settings and I cannot find any option that relates other than an option to stop the WIFI from going on standby, which I have also tried disabling to no effect. I've noticed a bunch of other threads with people complaining about this issue, but they also had other problems so I didn't want to hijack their thread. Are there any plans to fix this in a firmware update, and if so when? I’m willing to review a beta firmware. Thanks.
