Are there any app downloads for MacBooks from NetGear? I only saw apps for IPhone and IPad. Or should i just use the router address to configure my wifi. Which is better and more secure? Finding unknown devices on my internet under attached devices even though Acces control turned on and Block new devices are checked.967Views0likes1CommentNighthawk App - No longer accessible if Orbi is in AP mode doing the WiFi
So, how come I can no longer access the XR500, using the Nighthawk mobile app when Orbi is in AP mode doing the WiFi? To explain further, I setup the XR500 (no Orbi yet) and it's online doing WiFi as well. I setup the Nighthahwk (NH) app and I can connect to the XR500 over the NH ios app. Then, I disable the WiFi/radios on teh XR500 and put the Orbi online in AP mode but doing the WiFi now. Orbi works well and I can access Orbi locally and remotely using the iOS app but I can no longer access the XR500 using the NH ios app (something about this app cannot find a supported router). Is this because the XR500 needs to have its WiFi on? If so, this doesn't make sense as I should be able to access the XR500 over the NH app even though I'm connected to my Orbi's WiFI. Afterall, the Orbi does see the XR500 since it obtained an IP from it to run in AP mode. Any ideas how I might get this to work? The subject says R7800 but it's the XR500 that I am using. Could not pick it from the Hardware list.3.8KViews0likes9CommentsUpdated firmware and now R7000 is not supported?
Received an email from netgear saying there was a security update in the latest firmware and I needed to download the nighthawk app and update my router. So I did. The app hung on my iphone. So I left my iphone running overnight. In the morning, still hung. So I power cycled the router and I got rid of that nighthawk app. Genie was working fine, I don't know why I'm supposed to use yet another app. So I don't know if the update was successful or not because now I can't log into my router over wifi to check the firmware version. I've got connectivity, I'm connected via wifi, but Genie says the router is unsupported. If I bring up genie, everything looks good until I hit router settings, then it won't take my login and says my router isn't supported. Sorry for the redundancy. But hey, this nighthawk app is redundant too, so **bleep** for tat I guess.2KViews0likes1CommentMy nighthawk R8000 seems to go offline around 9am-10am is this normal?
Seems like every morning my device goes offline when I pull up my nighthawk app to check, i wasn’t sure if this is a reboot it does, I tried checking my router on the advance tab to see if there was a setting for this but couldn’t find it1.4KViews0likes1CommentI want to block my TV from accessing internet but still allow LAN access
Hi, I have a few devices I want to block from accessing the Internet but still allow them local network access. I understand I can block specific port numbers or assign dummy DNS addresses on specific devices... all of which are decent workarounds. But is it possible to just simply tell my router to block WAN access for a specific device IP/MAC address or somthing similar? -Pete1.6KViews0likes1CommentGRUMBLE GRUMBLE @ R8000
Tonight I was looking around my R8000, and as one tv star used to say, "Surprise Surprise Surprise" - I went to the router attached device list and somehow it was all messed up (again!) I have tried with the Netgear Genie app on my iOS (iPad Mini & iphone SE) to make sure all is happy and in sync with one another. Then throw in the actual device list as displayed on the router and all 3 are not agreeing what is actually connected to it. Netgear was nice enough to replace the original router thinking that somehow it was messed up, now after the latest firmware update - it's like alphabet soup all mixed up! I have downgraded back to the last firmware, and after hard resetting the router several times (even by using the reset button on the back of the router, it finally came back to life.) If I could ask for my money back on this PITA router, I would but I'm stuck with what seems to be a lemon. I'm going to brave a remote support connection with a Netgear 'Support Engineer' hopefully sometime soon, but I am not sure what that will achieve. The latest problems abound and no solution seems to be in the future. I am seriously thinking of going back to my old Linksys EA8500 router and use the Netgear one for a bookend until Netgear can resolve the problems with releasing bad bad bad firmware. At least the EA8500 is a lower end router than the R8000 is, but at least with lower functionng at least the expectations of working are there. Anyone else experiencing the same problem of having the Netgear Genie mess up your router severely? And, ReadyShare vault not detecting external USB drives? This is creating one heck of a headache!!!4.6KViews0likes13CommentsReady Share Vault cannot find the external USB drive
Ever since I upgraded to the most recent firmware on the R8000, I connected my Western Digital USB (1Tb drive) to the USB 3.0 port and I had to reinstall my desktop as it was having issues. Come to reinstall the ReadyShare Vault software and the drive attached to the router can no longer be found. I have reset the router, re-registered with Ready Cloud and I can find the drive the hard way via the routerlogin.net web site, but the backup software no longer sees the drive,, What happened? Am I alone in the mystery? I may as well, just start over, remove the ReadyShare software and go with a bare metal backup such as Acronis or go back to the really old Disk -> Tape archival .. at least I know it was reliable -- unlike so much from Netgear lately. I have told Netgear support that when I couldn't get the email reports sent to forget it, this is just one more stake in the coffin. If they can't get it right, the R8000 becomes a doorstop ... waste of $$$$$$ for something that is supposed to work.3.5KViews1like6Comments[Voice Control] NETGEAR Nighthawk X6 AC3200 Tri-Band Wi-Fi Router (R8000)
Hi there, I have a Google Home/Mini that I would like to add my Netgear Router to Device list. I was searching around the Netgear site and have follow the steps described @ http://www.netgear.com/landings/google-assistant/ However, I am UNABLE to enable "Remote Access" within the Netgear Genie app, it asked me to login, after entered the logins it is at the page asking me to "Verify Email", we need you to confirm your email address. I am not receiving any emails to confirm my email address, I have tried to send many times and no luck, i checked my spam folder or any other sub folder but no luck. The product is already registed in my acconut but I am unable to proceed it further (Enable Remote Access, not receiving an email from Netgear, but receiving Netgear Community updates, etc), Has anyone run into this issue before? Thanks1.3KViews0likes1CommentWiFi Analyzer Requested in App
NetGear Team, I found out that using a WiFi analyzer helps the end user determine which bands to set the NightHawk routers to for minimal interference from a crowded WiFi environment. Thankfully I had my Nvidia Shield with the free WiFi Analyzer app for Android devices. How about in the next firmware / app update for these high-end NightHawk WiFi routers, we include a Network Analyzer to deconflict WiFi bands to give the end user optimal performance. Additionally, how about an "AUTO" function for selecting your WiFi bands in the 5 GHz frequencies. You have it on the latest firmware for the AC3200 in the 2.4 GHz frequency bands but how about including that on the 5 GHz bands. I greatly appreciate all of the work that you do, so please, by all means, keep it up. However, we need this functionality built into the routers so that we can maximize our setups in our respective enviornments. Thanks for hearing a newbie out. Very Respectfully, Calvin P.S. - for the rest of the community, who concurs with me????7KViews1like1CommentGreat connection, weak signal on Amazon Fire Tablet
Genie Wi-Fi analytics says the Fire tablet is connected at -28 dBm but just 4% signal strength. This seems to happen often. What is wrong? The Nighthawk 1750 sits next to a Brother wireless printer. I'm sitting next to both, holding an LG G5 phone and the Amazon Fire tablet. Genie's open on both. Signal strength for the phone is 100% at 28 dBm. The network also includes a utility company smart-meters bridge, which is connected to a WN2500RP range extender. Also odd: Unlike the analytics, Genie's network map shows 100% signal strength for the tablet. I'd appreciate any ideas.Solved9.4KViews0likes2Comments
