I got this NAS used and so am unsure as to how it works. The model is Readynas rnd-6a. When I power it on the fans spin up and "ReadyNAS" displays on the LCD but that is all. I assume it doesn't boot although I don't know how to check if it's online, I have plugged in an Ethernet cable and it doesn't show up on my router. So far I have tried: Removing all the disks External power supply Changing the memory There is no data it, I just want to resurrect the machine. Any info or solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, ConnorRN314 Disk corruption
I've had this RN314 for a few yeras now but its been nothing but headaches, Right now Its holding my data hostage. It Keeps telling me error 0x80070570 The File or Data is corrupted - I am running the NAS as a Raid-5 so i had hopes that a scrub should fix this issues. But it did not. Ther are no disk errors in Smart. I am currently Migrating my data to the cloud If this was only 1 or 2 files no big issues but as of now its over 20% of all the files on the drive. The good news is the files seem to still be playable and work for me if i manually navigate to them... If this was windows I'd run a check Disk on them, but I dont know what to do with this RN. HELP.Questions about the ReadyNAS 424
I am new here and am concidering getting a Netgear ReadyNAS 424. I currentley have a Asustor AS-5004T and want to upgrade it to something better what must incldude native windows based File versioning support (Previous Versions) for SMB shares held on the NAS. My current setup is as follows, I have 2 x 6TB WD Red Pro HDD's inside my exsiting NAS box confiqured in RAID 1 along with a 4TB Red Pro drive used for weekley archiving. I also have a another 6TB WD Red Pro HDD inside my Windows 2016 Essentials rack server what acts as a backup to my main 6TB RAID 1 array. I have a few questions about the ReadyNAS 424, and hopefully those reading will be able to ansewer for me. 1) Can the RAM on the ReadyNAS 424 be upgradded, and if so to how much and what type? I have 8GB in my AS-5004T at the moment and is of the 1600MHz DDR3L SO-DIMM type. (Will 2GB be enough!? , my NAS is my main storage for daily usage and not just a backup/archive) 2) At what level does the ReadyNAS 424 support DFS and file versioning. I would like it to idealy integrate with the DFS capabilitys of Windows Server and have the 6TB drive inside my Rack Server cross syncronise the SMB shares on the ReadyNAS 424 ? 3) Does the ReadyNAS 424 support 802.3AD link aggregation? (I have a Draytek VigorSwitch P2261) 4) How reliable is the ReadyNAS 424?, I am allways having reliability isues with SMB shares shared via UPnP on my Asustor NAS box to my Denon network audio streamer that is part of my Hi-Fi. Sometimes it works fine, othertimes my Denon network audio streamer cannot see the shares on my Asustor NAS box! (All hard wired, no Wi-Fi or Mains LAN senders) 5) Does the ReadyNAS 424 support share/folder encryption what has to be unlocked by a password on starting the unit up. (In case the unit gets stolen.) Also, below suggests that ReadyNAS OS6 supports DFS, what I thought was a proprietary technology to Windows and was not available on Linux based NAS boxes? https://kb.netgear.com/23090/How-do-I-use-DFS-feature-on-the-ReadyNAS-OS-6-storage-system Lastly , anythoughts on the ReadyNAS 424 in general? Hi Everyone, This is my first post here so forgive any newb things i might say... So i have had my nas system for a little while now and i have all 4 bays filled up and I havnt added any drives to it in a while. I mainly use it as a media server for plex so although its not life or death to lose everything it would for sure suck to lose all the data i have aquired over many years. Withou pulling any drives out currently I believe them to all be WD Red. I did a bit of looking in this forum before posting and found some people with similar issues but none really have any solutions yet. I dont knw much about how to read the logs but I did try yo follow along with what some of you were suggest to other people and i didnt see any drive errors in my logs but i can supply them if needed. So The other day i watch watching something from my plex server and it said the serve went offline and when i looked the nas was still connected but the plex app was turned off. I couldnt get it to turn back on. I noticed there was an update for the app so i attempted to install it but it kept coming up with an error and i couldnt figure it out. I had been puting off the nas OS 6.9.0 update for a few months now because last time it made my nas resync and it took almost a full week but I decided to just go ahead and do the update and it appeared to go smoothly but now I get this error message and Im not sure if it always showed 2 volumes on the left hand side or not but im not sure whats going on or what to do. I attempted to remove drive 1 and re insert and it took 2 days to resync but it didnt change anything. I can try the beta 2 release but then I wont have the option for netgear paid support. I dont really want to have to pay for support but I also just wan this fixed and hopefully not lose any data and if possible know what caused it to hopefully prevent it from happening again. Any Ideas??? Sandshark StephenB Skywalker Thanks in advance.853Views0likes2CommentsLAG setup JGS524Ev2 and GS752TS kills network
Hi, I am attempting to create a 2 Wire LAG between a JGS524Ev2 and a GS752TS I am using ports 1 and 2 on each switch. I have created a LAG group for ports 1 and 2 on each switch. The JGS524Ev2 is in one room whilst the the GS752TS is in another. I have ensured there is no extra connection between the two switches other than the 2 Wire LAG. The JGS524Ev2 has a laptop and a couple of NAS connected. The GS752TS has 2 DNS servers, an NTP server, a Wireless Access Point and a pfSense Router connected. Before I connect the LAG cables I check communication with a single wire in Port 5 on each of the 2 switches. Everything connects, talks and works fine. I disconnect the cable in Port 5 and connect the 2 wires of the LAG at which point the Wireless Access Point goes berserk, turning itself on and off, the pfSense Router ceases to function as do the DNS and the NTP servers. Yet the laptop still functions and I can call up the GUIs for the 2 switches, which tell me they are transmitting at 1000MB. I am obviously doing something wrong, but followed the NetGear guides that I could find. Can anyone give me some advice please, such as unplug all ports, establish the LAG then replug the devices etc. Or any other strategy that let's everything work. Sometimes the NetGear guides are a bit nebulous... Thanks and kind regards, jBSolved2.9KViews0likes3CommentsNot Secure | https://xxx.xxx.x.x/admin/ Using a ReadyNAS 2100

Ah the most dreaded topic. I've gotten a bit complacent since it's been so reliable, I double back up but not everything :( and of course I need it sigh. So I shut my pro pioneer down to replace the battery in the UPS it was connected too. Now it won't power up! I figure no big deal, I have a 550w power supply lying around, I'll just plug it all together to get it running again. I get the wiring all sorted out and the power supply keeps tripping out. I tested no drives plugged and it still trips out. I tested with the 3 molex disconnected and it looks like it boots ok (I didn't bother going very far with it) I tested individual molex and it looks like only the top one is ok that doesn't trip the system. the bottom two make power supply trip out or something. I guess bad controller? Anything else I should try? what are my options? Thank you for your timeSolved5.4KViews0likes20Comments
