1411 TopicsOld ReadyNAS 212 won't boot up
So, many, MANY, years ago, my workplace merged with another company, and as part of that merger, I took over their IT system, which consisted of a few peer-to-peer PCs and a central storage system consisting of two ReadyNAS devices, one primary and one backup. Some time later, the backup NAS failed. Rather than fix or replace it, I opted to move to a cloud storage backup system instead, and the old unit was shelved. Fast forward to the modern day, amid a bunch of other IT problems cropping up (mainly, the current state of Microsoft OneDrive causing a cascade of problems with the cloud backup), the question of the the longevity of our current NAS device was raised. By my best estimation, that NAS has been going strong for upwards of 11 years now, and while it's performance has been incredible, it's at a point where it could fail at any moment. As part of the disaster recovery planning, the decision was made to try to refurbish the old backup NAS, just in case an immediate replacement is necessary before a full replacement can be purchased and implmented. That brings me to my current issue. The old NAS is able to power up, but then all the lights go out and it doesn't load anything. I have probed the Hard Drives on my PC, and while I haven't been able to access the files directly, the disks themselves seem to be fully functional. Most worryingly, attempting to access the Boot Menu with the reset button has failed entirely. Any advice of how I can get this old thing functional again? Preserving the data doesn't matter, they're just outdated backups, I just need to get the NAS Enclosure itself functional and active.10Gb NIC daughterboard for the RR4312
Hi there! I recently acquired a RR3312 array, and would like to get the daughterboard for the 10Gb NIC that the 4312 series uses. I have scoured the docs, and a part number isn't listed. I'm hoping that someone has a 4312 and can get me a couple of photo's or part numbers to search on. Thanks!ReadyNAS automation for backups and file management – anyone using workflows?
Hi everyone, I’ve been working with a ReadyNAS setup recently and I’m trying to improve how files and backups are managed across multiple devices. Right now the NAS handles storage and scheduled backups, but I’m exploring whether it’s possible to connect it with simple automation workflows. For example, triggering certain actions when files are uploaded, organizing folders automatically, or syncing certain directories with external systems. I know many people here use ReadyNAS mainly for storage, media servers, or network backups, but I’m curious if anyone has experimented with integrating automation tools or scripts alongside their NAS setup. I came across a technical explanation that discusses how automation workflows can connect with storage systems and digital infrastructure, which made me think about applying similar ideas to NAS environments Has anyone here tried integrating ReadyNAS with external automation tools, scripts, or APIs? I'm particularly interested in setups that improve file organization or automated backup management. Would love to hear what tools or approaches others are using.ReadyNAS 214 stop error
Hi! I have encountered a really weird error on my machine. During normal operations, the machine suddenly freezes and displays "page_address+4" on the display. All I/O operation is halted, and it does not respond to ping or the admin web. The only way to get it back online is a hard power cycle (i.e. pulling the plug). The normal power button does not work. I have googled and found absolutely nothing relating to this. The machine is running on firmware version 6.10.10. My best guess is that it might be a memory error. Any other ideas? /daishanStardew Valley Multiplayer Not Connecting – Issue with Netgear Nighthawk RS700S?
Hi everyone, I’m running into an issue while trying to play Stardew Valley multiplayer on PC. The game either fails to connect with friends or stays stuck on the “Connecting...” screen indefinitely. I'm using a Netgear Nighthawk WiFi 7 Router RS700S (19Gbps), and I suspect there might be some configuration causing the issue — maybe NAT type or port restrictions. Here’s what I’ve already tried: Restarted the router and PC Turned off Windows Firewall temporarily Enabled UPnP in the RS700S settings Manually forwarded ports 24642 and 26120, which some Stardew guides recommend Despite all this, the game still can’t connect in multiplayer mode. Has anyone else experienced similar issues with the RS700S router? Are there any additional ports or settings I should be looking into to make Stardew Valley multiplayer work properly? Would really appreciate any advice! Thanks!where to get new PSU for Readynas 4200 / how to disable beep
Hi, one of the psu of my readynas 4200 died yesterday. I have two questions: 1. Where can I order a new psu? 2. Are there alternatives, for example a psu which make less noise? Or would it be possible to replace the fan of the psu to reduce the noise (I think psu's make more noise than the fans in the readynas) And a third question: With only one psu working the Readynas makes a really annoying beeping sound to warn me that there is only one psu working. Is it possible to disable this beep? And if yes how? regards HenriReadyNAS Pro - Replace CPU Fan
The 80mm CPU fan on my ReadyNAS Pro Business NAS is starting to go. This is an early model that arrived with the CPU three pin header connected to the daughter board, as opposed to the main board. The announcment: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/12240/~/service-action-for-x86-readynas-pro-cpu-fan-speed-control-(2009-) My question - 1) Is this correct - the early units had CPU fans with 3 pin header as opposed to 4 pin header, so the fix was to hook up the header to the daughter board which has a 3 pin header? 2) I'd like to get a quiet fan, as opposed to the original fan. I've read in this forum that the Noctua NF-R8 PWM 80mm Case Fan is very good. This has a 4 pin header. Is there anything better for the NAS? 3) Will a 4 pin PWM replacement fan work on the main board 4 pin header with no other hardware or software modification? 4) I assume I'll want to delete/stop the ToggleSwitchProCPUFan cron job once the new fan is connected to the 4 pin header on the main board? Thanks! My two ReadyNAS Pro's are still going strong. Not ready for the landfill yet.
