I noticed when sending syslog from the WAX's to our syslog server (in this case a Wazuh SIEM installation) that there's some issues. First issue, it's hard to differentiate the syslog coming from the access points with syslog coming from other devices if there's no name in the logs. And second, the predecoding in this syslog server now interprets the program name (app name) as the hostname and as there are many processes running on the device this 'pollutes' the hostname field in the opensearch database with lots of processes (non existing hosts). There have been other reports of other syslog sending devices causing issues with this syslog decoder, so the issue is not Netgear exclusive (and I have been able to find a common regex to differentiate), but it seems that adding a name in the logs would not be so hard to do and it would probably fix both issues and it would be convenient. (Our M4300 stack does have a hostname in the logs and I think it's a good thing to be consequent) While this field can be left empty according to the standard it also says that an empty value is very unlikely (RFC5424). https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc3164#section-5.2 https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc5424#section-6.2.4 Maybe include the 'location' name which is shown in Insight as the hostname?46Views1like8CommentsWAX615 night mode
Currently, only the "default", "off" and "off except power LED" settings are available. I have 3 WAX615s at home and one is on the bedroom floor; the blinking LED lights are really annoying at night. Is it possible to consider to develop a feature that can be enabled to automatically turn off the lights during specific hours?7Views0likes0CommentsInsight Captive Portal (Free)
You have added a much-improved Captive Portal option to Insight, but have failed to provide any option to retrieve the collected data, i.e. name, email, etc. I spent the time and went through and set it up only to subsequently spend hours trawling through the whole portal in detail and ultimately contacting support to discover that this "may be an option in a future release", which makes the whole thing pointless and a waste of time. I suggest that you at least make a note on the portal to state that the feature is incomplete, although it would be far preferable to provide access to the data collected!9Views0likes0CommentsWBE758 onboarding Engage - Give us the ability to hide/not broadcast SSIDs
Went to go onboard a WBE758 to Netgear Engage, everything went great until I ran into the fact that there is no way to turn off "Broadcast SSID" or "Hide SSID". When you go to the web GUI for that AP, the first thing it says to you is "Items greyed out are managed by Engage", which makes sense, except for features that aren't even on Engage yet. Please add the ability to hid SSIDs on engage with supported Netgear Pro Access Points.446Views0likes3CommentsAllow to rename Clients
It would be immensely helpful to be able to add/edit names of client devices. It would be heck of a lot easy to figure out what each device is... Should be whatever system gets by default and then allowing user to edit, so I can name something like "Printer by Coffee machine"4.7KViews24likes8CommentsIdea: Social Services Status Check Platform

Hi, I've been testing WBE750 for a couple of weeks and a bit disappointed by the lack of WebUI Configuration options. Would it be possible to add 1. A way to change the default port for HTTPS (from 443 to another port) 2. A way to change / update SSL certificate (ideally with a way to retrieve the certificate using acme or from a local repository) Best regards751Views0likes1CommentPlataforma insight_ Administracion de licencias
Hi, In France, we must be able to provide our internet wifi logs for 1 year. With or Without captive portal. I know we can do it with captiv portal (web history). But actually we can not do it if we don't use captive portal. I can find in the management interface of wifi access point WAXxxx the possibility to activate "url tracking" but logs doesn't stay for a long time and we need to connect to each wifi access point to find and download them. We know we can do it with snmp too but custommers will need a new system to manage it. It coudl be very useful to have the possibility to activate url tracking from insight. By this way we could have the possibility to generate the web history (internet logs) for all access points/devices/SSID without captive portal. Captiv portal is not ergonomic for inside machine and users. Thanks in advanced fir your reply2.6KViews3likes2Comments
