I just installed a Netgear WN2500RP range extender, and it seems to be working correctly; however, I am unable to log in to www.mywifiext.net to access the device using a browser. Attempting to access this URL results in a timeout. Is there any other way to access the device? Does the device have to be connected via Ethernet to my (Actiontec PK5000) router?Solved404KViews0likes38CommentsCannot connect on 5GHz
Hi, I have a DGND3700 router and just bought a WN2500RP to extend it. Both are are on latest firmware. I went through the normal set up using TPS and it connects and shows the 2.4GHz connection. If I repeat the same many times, the 5GHz never lights up. I know 5GHz is working on the 3700 because my iPad connects to the 5Ghz SSID and my iPhone connects to the 2.4GHz SSID. I tried using the web interface to connect to 5GHz but it also fails to connect. I am certain the password is correct. I'm using WPA2-PSK (AES). I am not using a wireless card access list. My 2.4GHz SSID is called JOHNA-2.4G My 5GHz SSID is called JOHNA-5G Even though the 5GHz light is not lit on the 2500 and the web interface shows it is not connected, I see the following Networks on my iPad JOHNA-2.4G JOHNA-2.4G_2GEXT JOHNA-5G JOHNA-5G_5GEXT If I connect to JOHNA-2.4G_2GEXT or JOHNA-5G_5GEXT and browse to the device I can see 5GHz is not connected. If I tell it to connect, it says it will take 2 minutes. I usually give up after 10 minutes. Both devices are in the same room so it is not a distance problem - I hope. In summary, no matter what I do, it will not connect at 5GHz. A bit disappointed by this. I thought 2 new products from Netgear that support TPS would work flawlessly. Any advice would be very welcome. John.96KViews0likes32CommentsWhy New _EXT Network Connection?
Yesterday I installed my WN3000RP range extender with the help of Netgear TS. The install created a new WiFi network connection with _EXT after my network name. So the range extender is using that _EXT network. I don't get that, as all my devices are on the regular home network. How is this helping to extend the range for my home devices???56KViews0likes3CommentsCan't access admin page (www.mywifiext.net)
After wasting my time for 30 minutes trying to get www.mywifiext.net to work, here's what I did: --I had already set up the WN3500RP using WPS. --Connected to the WN3500RP via Ethernet (i.e. ran a CAT6 cable from my laptop to the Ethernet port on the WN3500RP). --Went into my router's DHCP table to get the IP address of the WN3500RP. --Entered the IP address as the URL (e.g. 192.168.1.144). --Changed the WN3500RP to use a static IP address outside the range of my router's DHCP list (e.g. 192.168.1.163). That way it will always be at .163 so I don't have to hunt for it every time I want to access the admin page. --Entered the new static IP address as the URL (e.g. 192.168.1.163). --Updated the firmware and customized the WN3500RP. Hope that helps!Power Light staying on Orange when I plug in for the first time.
I have just purchased a new WN2500RP. I have plugged it in. There are no other connections apart from the power. The orange light hasn't turned green. I have left the device for 10 minutes and tried it in 4 different power outlets. The 1 to 4 LAN indicator lights flash once intermittently once every 2 minutes or so. However, the power light never goes green. Any ideas anyone?51KViews1like15CommentsConnecting extender to hotel login page
I have a guest network that requires a web page to open and a password to enter network to use (like hotel login), but I cannot get extender to allow me to enter a webpage and login so it says it cannot connect. Is there a way around this? I.e open a web page, enter the password to the network when prompted by main router. Then get extender to boost signal to other areas/devices? Thanks!47KViews0likes8CommentsCan't use same name as network it's extending?
This is probably a silly question -- but we had another router and it "extended" our primary router's wifi network and used the same name. It appears the WN2500RP we just got creates a new network. That is not a great solution for us as the point is to allow iPads and whatnot that are brought upstairs at night to work there seamlessly. I don't see my wife at 10pm feeding the baby remembering to switch to the "nighttime network". Is there any way to have this device broadcast on the same name, or is that inherently not feasible? If so I'm just wondering why it worked with the other router, and why you can have the same network name throughout hotels, etc. Thanks for your help!44KViews0likes4CommentsNetgear n600 problems?

Dear all, I have a modem/router (Ubee from cable provider Ziggo in the Netherlands) which has a crappy wifi. I have disabled the Ubee's wifi and instead connected a Netgear WNDR4500 router and use it's wifi capabilities. Advantage is that the Netgear is double band whereas the Ubee is either 2.4 or 5 GHz, but not both at the same time. All this hardware is at basement level. From the Ubee runs an CAT6 cable to the first floor enabling to connect a different device. I have a WN2500RP range extender, however would like to use it only as a regular access point. That is, I would like to connect one of the four LAN ports to the CAT cable coming from the Ubee and then use it for transmitting double band wifi signals on this first floor (the wifi signal coming from the WNDR4500 is too weak). But when using the range extender as an extender, be definition the wifi speeds will be half of those of the WNDR4500 as the extender has to receive as well as transmit. Hence, my idea of connecting it to a CAT wire and subsequently using it only for transmitting (faster) wifi. So, question is whether the WN2500RP can be used in such a mode? Thanks in advance for any help. Marcel27KViews1like3Comments
