I have an N600 C3700 cable modem/wifi router, and I am having trouble with the speed of my wifi connection. I have Comcast Blast 150Mbps service, and my wired connection typically gets 175-180Mbps (testing with both Speedtest.net and Xfinity's speed test site). However when on wifi I typically am getting 25-30Mbps on the 2.4GHz channel and maybe up to 50Mbps on the 5GHz channel. I’ve tried on two different android phones, two ipads, and a macbook air, and all have those same slow results over wifi. Tested when within about 3 feet of the router, all the way to 20 feet away. I have run the tests dozens of times over the past several days and those results are consistent. I have checked all the settings on the router and all appear to be per Netgear recommendations. I am using WPA2-PSK [AES] security and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz are set to the “Up to 300 Mbps” mode (I understand I'm not going to get 150 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, but I think I should get it on the 5 GHz). There are no neighboring wifi signals on the channels I am using so it is not an interference issue, nor are there any other possible interference signals in my home that I am aware of. I have tried disabling the encryption and still get the same speed. This morning I did a factory reset and confirmed I’m on the latest firmware (v2.02.06) and I still have the same problem. Any guidance on how to increase the wifi speed?22KViews5likes16CommentsExtender needs frequent rebooting
I have had the extender setup and working for the better part of a year. I haven't ever needed to touch it. Flawless performance. Very happy. About 6 weeks ago the internet stopped working for devices connected to it. Once I reboot the extender, everything goes back to working fine. A couple weeks later, same thing. Then a few days. Then a couple days... It's getting more frequent, to the point that when I plan to use the connection, I just reboot the device to preemptively avoid the frustration. Today I decided to sit down with it and look at whatever log files it might have. After all, *something* must get written down about it not working. But I can't find anything at all that might point me to the problem. The initial question is: Are there any logs it keeps about what is going on with the device? Can any be turned on? Secondarily, any clue about why it might suddenly stop working like this and need rebooting so frequently? I checked for a firmware update on-line, but it says I'm up to date. Dear all, I have a modem/router (Ubee from cable provider Ziggo in the Netherlands) which has a crappy wifi. I have disabled the Ubee's wifi and instead connected a Netgear WNDR4500 router and use it's wifi capabilities. Advantage is that the Netgear is double band whereas the Ubee is either 2.4 or 5 GHz, but not both at the same time. All this hardware is at basement level. From the Ubee runs an CAT6 cable to the first floor enabling to connect a different device. I have a WN2500RP range extender, however would like to use it only as a regular access point. That is, I would like to connect one of the four LAN ports to the CAT cable coming from the Ubee and then use it for transmitting double band wifi signals on this first floor (the wifi signal coming from the WNDR4500 is too weak). But when using the range extender as an extender, be definition the wifi speeds will be half of those of the WNDR4500 as the extender has to receive as well as transmit. Hence, my idea of connecting it to a CAT wire and subsequently using it only for transmitting (faster) wifi. So, question is whether the WN2500RP can be used in such a mode? Thanks in advance for any help. Marcel27KViews1like3CommentsPower Light staying on Orange when I plug in for the first time.
I have just purchased a new WN2500RP. I have plugged it in. There are no other connections apart from the power. The orange light hasn't turned green. I have left the device for 10 minutes and tried it in 4 different power outlets. The 1 to 4 LAN indicator lights flash once intermittently once every 2 minutes or so. However, the power light never goes green. Any ideas anyone?51KViews1like15CommentsCan't access admin page (www.mywifiext.net)
After wasting my time for 30 minutes trying to get www.mywifiext.net to work, here's what I did: --I had already set up the WN3500RP using WPS. --Connected to the WN3500RP via Ethernet (i.e. ran a CAT6 cable from my laptop to the Ethernet port on the WN3500RP). --Went into my router's DHCP table to get the IP address of the WN3500RP. --Entered the IP address as the URL (e.g. 192.168.1.144). --Changed the WN3500RP to use a static IP address outside the range of my router's DHCP list (e.g. 192.168.1.163). That way it will always be at .163 so I don't have to hunt for it every time I want to access the admin page. --Entered the new static IP address as the URL (e.g. 192.168.1.163). --Updated the firmware and customized the WN3500RP. Hope that helps!MAC addresses wrong, inconsistent !!
Hi, I am having [problems connecting to the extender when I have MAC filtering, access control, swicthed on in my Netgear router. The MAC addresses listed on the back of the box state they should be: 2C:........D8 and 2C.........D9 My router currently reports something different but similar, and I think its not consistent either: 2E........D8 and 2E.......D9 I normally use the access control list on my router and its list has 12 MAC addresses in it. It worked fine until the WN2500RP came along and now it have to turn it off! Does the 2500 have a problem with its MAC addresses???25KViews1like4CommentsWN3000RP range limitations
I have a solid brick house and I want to extend the range of my WiFi from one end of the house to the other. So I bought the WN3000RP. But it doesn't seem to have enough 'punch' to get through all the intervening brick walls. Do I have to buy another more powerful WiFi range extender (and if so, what do you recommend), or is there a better solution. I have a MacBook Pro and use a Belkin F1P1243EGau router.9.1KViews1like4Comments
