The firmware for the ReadyNAS RN212 has not been updated for a long time. At this point, I no longer expect any functional improvements. https://www.netgear.com/support/product/rn212/ However, what I want from NETGEAR is a clear announcement regarding whether or not security issues, if discovered, will still be addressed. If the product is completely unsupported, that should be clearly stated as well. Typically, when a product reaches End of Life (EOL), it is explicitly noted in red text on the firmware page. The issue here is that there is no such indication, yet the firmware has not been updated for an extended period, and there has been no official announcement whatsoever.71Views0likes2CommentsRN2120 Hot Swap HDD by Accident now Re-syncing
Hi, new to the community, looking for wisdom :) I've got a RN 2120 with 4 x 4TB WD Black drives, the NAS is setup as RAID5 for home use storage, total space comes out to 10.9TB. The hard drives are brand new and have nothing on them. What happened today is I accidentally pulled out a hard drive and popped it back in while the NAS was running. As a result, the hard drive that was out for a split second is now being re-synced and its taking 20 hrs or so to perform the function, is this normal under RAID5? If somebody could explain, why would the empty hard drive need to be re-synced for RAID5 if there’s no data? Thanks, YasSolvedSynology NAS Quickconnect with Orbi
Hello, I have setup my Netgear ORBI system, which works great regarding WIFI coverage. One problem though, I used to connect externally to my NAS with the quickconnect.to functionality: https://blog.synology.com/?p=2283 This doesn't work anymore. I guess Orbi is blocking external connections? Any idea how I can fix this? Or do I need to adjust my settings on my NAS?Configure NAS
Hi everyone, I´ve been using a shared hard disk in my local network and this is my very first time using a NAS and I cannot find the way to configure it. It´s been a couple of days since I´ve been setting it up but there is nothing else I can do. I have tried a couple of possible solutions but nothing worked so I am going to tell what I have done and see if you can help me. am using the hard drive I used for local network, and I just want to let you know that I only store movies on it so I don’t use it that much and it has got more or less a year since I bought it. So, I formatted the hard drive which is a Seagate ST2000DM001 and inserted in the chamber 1 of the NAS. After turning it up it did nothing, I wasn´t able to find it in the Ready Cloud web page, also pressed the backup button for 5 sec. and nothing. I also downloaded the RAIDar programme and still the same. As I remembered I set to my tech a static IP so I thought it would be because of that so I set the NAS with the 192.168.1.10 to the eth0 and 192.168.1.11 to the eth1. I do have the NAS connected the router my internet provider gave as I also have a switch and thought this could cause some issues. I can ping the ip from my PC sending 4 packages and receiving them too, I have also tried looking up they IP through the browser and nothing. So, I thought it would be a problem with the hard disk so I decided to formatted using this manual selection Factory default and leave it "think” for 30 min; useless.Right now, it has the power button blue and the rest are off. I´m also going to post some photos as they may be useful. Any help is welcome and thanks in advanced.adding hard drie
ReadyNAS 4312x (not in the "Model Recommended" above) I have Six 10TB Hard drives, X-RAID setup I am trying to add a 10TB (HGST model HUH721010ALE600) hard drive, the log shows it adds the drive...then about 5 minutes later it removes the drive. Did I just get a bad hard drive? (as I have never expanded this and it should be "easy")Solved1.4KViews0likes5Commentsconfiguration - Aircard + Cradle + Nas

Hi there, I bought a Netgear router yesterday, because my previous router did not work anymore. My actual router is a Netgear "Nighthawk" Router AC1900 Smart Wifi, Model R7000. I have a "Livebox" (equivalent to a modem I guess - as I live in France and have a French ISP). The Livebox's ip address is: 192.168.1.1 Don't think it's relevant, but I have 5 computers, running windows (XP, 7, 8 and 10). Some computers also run on linux (mint and ubuntu). Previous setting: The Livebox was at its above mentionned ip address (192.168.1.1) My former router's ip address was: 192.168.2.1. My gigabit nas station & usb 3.0 5gbps NAS' ip address was: 192.168.2.5 My Brother MFC-9970CDW printer's ip address was 192.168.2.7. It all worked seamlessly until the old router packed up. Current settings: The livebox modem's ip address remains the same (192.168.1.1) The netgear router's current ip address is: 192.168.1.37 (set as access point) Using brother's troubleshooting software, I have successfully connected my printer, though a new ip address was given: 192.168.1.235. I cannot connect, despite my numerous attemps, to my "gigabit nas station & usb 3.0 5gbps NAS". I've changed the Netgear Router's address to 192.168.2.1, but did not find my NAS on the given statique address (192.168.2.5). So I hard reset my Netgear router, as I could not access it with the newly given ip address. I set it back to the automatique address: 192.168.1.37 (access point mode). I no longer have the box, the java software NAS finder (palava). I don't want to press the NAS' reset button, by fear of erasing the data on the disk and the assigned disk/users space. I haven't got a clue of how to change my NAS' ip address. Can somebody help me with this issue? Kind RegardsSolved11KViews0likes4Commentspassword recovery fails
Hello all, I cannot log in to my ReadyNAS, and after putting the correct recovery details (email and recovery answer) - it says: Recover Password Failed. I haven't been receiving emails from the NAS for months, and right now my internet is also down (using a hotspot to write this post). This was annoying before, but now the situation is a bit urgent... The only thing I can think of is that it's possible that the router address may have changed so the NAS cannot get to the internet. Does this sound like a possibility to you guys? As the physical reset button wasn't configured originally, that reset option isn't available to me when I go to the password recovery page. So I don't want to press that button at the back in case I lose data. Is there a way to recover the password based on these limitations? Many thanks, AaronSolved7.7KViews0likes3Comments
