Hi there, I bought a Netgear router yesterday, because my previous router did not work anymore. My actual router is a Netgear "Nighthawk" Router AC1900 Smart Wifi, Model R7000. I have a "Livebox" (equivalent to a modem I guess - as I live in France and have a French ISP). The Livebox's ip address is: 192.168.1.1 Don't think it's relevant, but I have 5 computers, running windows (XP, 7, 8 and 10). Some computers also run on linux (mint and ubuntu). Previous setting: The Livebox was at its above mentionned ip address (192.168.1.1) My former router's ip address was: 192.168.2.1. My gigabit nas station & usb 3.0 5gbps NAS' ip address was: 192.168.2.5 My Brother MFC-9970CDW printer's ip address was 192.168.2.7. It all worked seamlessly until the old router packed up. Current settings: The livebox modem's ip address remains the same (192.168.1.1) The netgear router's current ip address is: 192.168.1.37 (set as access point) Using brother's troubleshooting software, I have successfully connected my printer, though a new ip address was given: 192.168.1.235. I cannot connect, despite my numerous attemps, to my "gigabit nas station & usb 3.0 5gbps NAS". I've changed the Netgear Router's address to 192.168.2.1, but did not find my NAS on the given statique address (192.168.2.5). So I hard reset my Netgear router, as I could not access it with the newly given ip address. I set it back to the automatique address: 192.168.1.37 (access point mode). I no longer have the box, the java software NAS finder (palava). I don't want to press the NAS' reset button, by fear of erasing the data on the disk and the assigned disk/users space. I haven't got a clue of how to change my NAS' ip address. Can somebody help me with this issue? I saw that someone previously had a similar, if not the same issue. Their write-up is as follows: " Just setting up Plex on my R9000, connected USB 3 thumbdrive (32GB), and usin g my NAS as storage for my movies. But no image/poster is beeing downloaded, all movies are just grey boxes. Info and so on working fine, but only images not working. Is there a solution for this, working fine when I used my NAS as mediaplayer." In my issue, I have a server set up on my laptop that interfaces with my NAS just fine. However, my laptop is not ideal for streaming movies for several reasons (one being that my PS4 Pro and the router both use 5G and my laptop does not. But I digress) Anyway, I got the new firmware update that allows you to set up a Plex server on the router that uses an NAS. I purchased a 128G Samsung USB3.0 thumb drive, plugged it into the router and opened the Plex server. I added multiple directories into multiple libraries, but the server will only detect movies in one library. Also, in that library, media is matched and the info is working, but the artwork is not present (nor can I add artwork with the upload custom artwork function.) This issue is marked solved on a previous thread, with the solution being listed as: "Solution is formatting to "OS X Extended (Journaled)", not working with FAT32 or EXFAT." I have no idea what that means. Reformat the NAS? (I definitely won't be deleting 12tb of media for a reformat.) Or is it talking about reformatting the USB? If so, how would I go about that? I am very confused and frustrated with this whole process.Solved6.2KViews0likes6Commentscant see content from my NAS (R7800)
Hello there. Ive got a problem with my new router (Netgear R7800). Fist of all, on the previous router (Asus) everything worked correctly. All that has changed is the router itself. Configuration: 1. Router R7800 (Firmware Version 1.0.2.28) 2. Eth - NAS Synology DS213 3. WiFi (5) - Panasonic VIERA TX-PR65VT50 4. WiFi (2,4) - Sony PS4 5. WiFi (2,4) - Pioneer BDP-160-K 6. WiFi (5) - Samsung UE40D7000 Problem: The devices do not read content from the NAS. To the server is connected, the folder structure and the files themselves are visible. What i tried (not help): 1. Connect any device on an Ethernet with a router. 2. Switch connection 2,4 and 5 HGz wifi. 3. Change router firmware. The most funny thing, then on version 1.0.0.30 video content on PS4 and TV Samsung was read fine. Photos and audio are played normally on all devices. I suspect that the whole thing is in the firmware. Can I have missed something?Solved5.4KViews0likes6CommentsDoes Plex only run off of USB on the R9000 or can it access a NAS?
I have a WD EX4 NAS which I currently use to house my Plex content currently running off of a PC. One of the attractions to picking up the R9000 was its ablity to run Plex, but it doesn't seem to want to work without a USB drive attached. Does Plex on the R9000 run exclusively off of a USB drive or can it run off a NAS like a regular Plex server?Solved5.5KViews0likes8CommentsBeware, Plex only runs off of USB and not NAS on the R9000
If you're thinking of getting the R9000 so you can get a fast WIFI router/switch (which it is) **and** retire your PC that's currently running Plex think again unless you have a small media library. It was quite the surprise to find that the version of Plex is limited to only accessing media that's on a USB stick attached to the router. It goes without saying that I think the #1 required feature if you're going to promote your device to act as a Plex server is to have the ability to pull media from a NAS.Solved4.5KViews0likes7CommentsReadyDLNA visible but access denied
Hi there, I have a 1TB external drive connected to my router. I can access the drive as a network drive from all PCs over WiFi without any problems. - but I can't access the drive as a media server. Both options "activate media server" and "activate TiVo support" are activated, the scan is set to automatic (well you can't click anything else there) and I have given the media server a name. It is visible on all the devices - PS3, Yamaha network player, Genie app on andriod phone, PCs,.... --> but NO device can access it! One says "access denied" the other one says "no files" windows says "connection was not accepted" etc... It's very annoying as it used to work fine before. It's definately a problem of the router and not of any device as no device can open the media server. I hardly changed any settings of the router - only name of the server, SID and so on. I have already restored the router to factory settings but it is the same thing then! "ReadyDLNA" is visible on every device but access is denied. Thank you for your help!Solvedproblem with netgear R6100 ReadyShare with WD My Book 2TB to Sony TV and PS3
I have recently upgraded my Router from a lynksis wirless N router to a Netgear Wireless AC 1200 (R6100). With it I purchased a WD My Book 2 TB HDD for use as a NAS Device. Everything was working fine until about a week ago I had some trouble uploading a file from my Win10 PC to the drive via the network. Afterwords I could not access the drive from any of my families 3 windos PC's (Win 7SP2, 8.1, and 10). I could still acces the drive via DLNA through my Sony Bravia and my PS3. I did a power cycle of my modem and router and from then on I could access the drive from my computers but not through the Sony TV or PS3. I have removed the corrupted file from the drive, as well as the previous upload (law and order season 20). I have cycled the power on my WD Drive as well as edited all of the network settings through the netgear genie, the TV and the PS3. I have not reformated the drive since I don't have the space on my computer for all of the files (1.6TB worth of files, 500GB free space on my PC).
