I’m going to try my best to explain my current situation as best as possible since I’m not entirely tech savvy or literate. My current situation is that there are devices that need to be hardwired but the devices are located in separate rooms. One device in my room and one in my brother’s. Now I know that I can use the EX7000 to wirelessly connect to my router and just use the Ethernet ports but doing that cuts down on download speeds. So I was wondering if I can use the Ethernet port in my room and plug the extender into that so I won’t have to wirelessly connect to the router? The current set up is that we have Frontier FiOS and the ONT box is located in our garage. Not sure what that means but the employee from BestBuy said it acts as the modem so that all the Ethernet ports our house can support a router without the need of an actual modem. So currently, all we currently have the Nighthawk X6 plugged into the Ethernet port in my brother’s room and is producing a Wifi signal with internet. We now both have desktops that have no Wifi adapters. So in order to use the internet on our computer we need to be wired. We used to share a room so it was never a problem since the router was in our room but now that we have our own rooms, he kept the router while I have no possible way of accessing internet via wired connection. Since we both game, we prefer a wired connection overall for the best performance. Hence the reason why we never purchased a Wifi adapter for our PC. While trying to look up a solution for my problem, I was constantly seeing answers like using the EX7000 as an access point. However, instructions say to plug it in to a router, which defeats my purpose of buying the extender in the first place since the extender would need to be located in my brother’s room. So long story short, can I hardwire the EX7000 using the Ethernet port in my room so that it can provide internet to my devices that need to be hardwired into the extender?7.1KViews0likes4CommentsHelp with ac1900 R7000 nighthawk, cm600 cable modem, and ac2200 wifi extender
Would it be possible to run an ethernet cable from my cm600 cable modem to set nighthawk ac1900 R7000. Then connect an ethernet cable from my ac1900 to my ac2200 wifi range extender for the wifi. Would i have to set my ac1900 in bridge mode? Also this is for the purpose of not only running an ethernet to the ac2200 but another one to my playstation 4 as well. The ac2200 has the option to flip it as an access point instead of a range extender. Therefore i would be able to connect my wifi devices to the ac2200. Basically it would go internet -> cm600 -> ac1900 ->lan cable to ps4, lan cable to ac2200. Sorry I am new to this. Is this completely redundant? I ask this because when i set my ac2200 as extender mode, it will screw up my LAN connection on my ps4 when anyone connects to the ac2200 for some reason. I dont know what settings i'd have to do to fix that.. just wondering if the setup i described above would work just as well.1.3KViews0likes3CommentsNighthawk 11AC 1900 WiFi Range Extender with DGND4000 query
Tried to send this as an email to pre sales but it bounced!! I have a Netgear DGND4000 router connected to a DM200 modem (I upgraded from standard ADSL to FTTC (VDSL)) As the router does not support 802.11ac all the mobile phones and tablets in my house are running at limited speed so I was looking to switch the WI-FI to 802.11ac by adding the Nighthawk 11AC 1900 WiFi Range Extender. As the router does not support 802.11ac I was considering attaching the Extender to the router by Ethernet, turning off the route WI-FI and renaming the SSID of the extender to what I had in the router. *) Presumably this will allow the WI-fi to get the best speed out of the router *) Will the router still be acting as a DHCP server and firewall? *) Will all the existing address reservations setup in the router be used or does the extender take over this job and I have to put them all in again. *) Also can I leave the router Guest network wi-fi on and it be "ignored" by the extender (It has a different SSID)2.3KViews0likes2CommentsAC1900 Doesn't Connect to 5ghz
Hi, my AC1900 randomly stopped connecting to my 5ghz Uverse router. The 2ghz works perfectly and I've reset the router and extender several times. After every full re-set the 5ghz works for some period of time but routinely stops working. I'm able to connect to the regular 5ghz so I know the router itself is working but the extender is unable to pick it up and extend it. As the 5ghz is mich more powerful, this is affecting many of my applications. Any tips? Thanks!netgear nighthawk x4 EX7300, leading to network performance issues
hello to all I have installed the nightwawk EX7300 wifi extender. the Wifi extension works fine but the original wifi signal is not working properly - the signal is identified - I can log into it with a PC or my mobile phone - I can go to google homepage, but all other websites don't work. Other devices cannot log into it. Any clue? Thank you for your help. John4.1KViews0likes7CommentsNIGHTHAWK R7000 + Actiontec WCB6000q
R700 Version: 1.0.7.10_1.2.3 I called cox communications today to see if I qualified for a special to go from premium speed 100/10 to utlimate speed 300/15. They are telling me that I would have to have a Actiontec WCB6200q put into the network in order for their increased speed to work on my network correctly along with renting the device for $9.95 a month. I think they are trying to get me to rent something I don't need (I could always buy my own if need be). I do not have any issues with my network, we will having company for a few months and this person will most likely increase the the usage quite a bit. So what I am asking is Cox Communications trying to pull a fast one on me? My SkyStream-One Android TV box (which is GREAT) I have directly connected to my R7000. I use the ethernet cabels that was run throughout my home when it was built. I have another that runs to my home office to my main desktop. Other laptops, Ipad, etc. use wifi/bluetooth. I also a have a Netgear wireless extender upstairs that works well for Ipads, laptops, etc. I am confused why I would have to have this Actiontec WCB6200Q extender to utilize 300/15 bandwidth. Can anyone enlighten me?(2.9KViews0likes3CommentsEX7000 LEDs Blinking
I have a Netgear EX7000 Nighthawk range extender that has been set up for about 4-5 months now. It has worked great up until now. I noticed the WPS, 2.4ghz and the 5g leds are blinking on it. I power cycled the extender to no avail. At times the internet still works even though these LEDs are blinking, but I've also noticed that it will also go amber and then solid green. I contacted support last night via the My Support page and was told that since my 90 days is up, call someone to troubleshoot hardware, but they closed the case. The Range Extender is connected to a Netgear router that appears to be functioning ok. Anyone else run into this issue before?6.4KViews0likes7Comments
