PR2000
21 TopicsHelp needed using xfinitywifi hotspot, Wifi adapter and PR2000.
I sometimes stay at a friends place and they do not have internet service in the home. However, I am able to connect to an xfinitywifi hotspot (I do have an Xfinity account) for internet service using a Netis WF2116 wifi adapter. I'm trying to figure out the best way to share the connection with other wireless/wired devices. Specifically, I would like to be able to connect wifi to a Roku box to watch Netflix. Or, a wired ethernet connection would be OK if is faster and more reliable. I do have the PR2000 and have had it working somewhat but I was getting a pop up message from the computer (running Vista) that it had the same IP address as another computer connected to the network. I couldn't find an IP conflict and went as far as re-installing Vista ( I know it's outdated) and both service packs. Still got the same message. When connected to the xfinity wifi alone using the Netis WF2116, I get a 70-100% signal. No problem there. Works great and stays connected. I'm not sure how to put the PR2000 in the mix and get everything to work properly. What mode do I use? What settings in the Netgear Genie interface? Would using the Netis WF2116 in AP mode be of any help? Whenever the WF2116 is connected to the PR2000 SSID that's when the problems occur and I can see on the WF2116's screen that the IP address keeps flashing on then off. Any suggestions on the best way to get this working would be appreciated. Thanks.21KViews0likes2CommentsHow to connect to the Internet on a unsecured hostpot with tokennumber and password
I want to use my new Netgear PR2000 in a hotel as a private small hotspot for the existing hotel wlan which is not secured by WPA or so. From the hotel I have got a tokennumber and a password. When I connect to the WLAN with my computer directly, I select the hotel wlan and then i am forwarded automatically to a login page where I have to enter the token and the password. This works great. But how can I do this with my PR2000? I want to use it as local hotspot to connect multiple mobile devices to it, and forwarded from pr2000 to the single hotel wlan connection by using one only token. How can I connect the Netgear PR2000 to such an Internet access? Thank you for helping.21KViews0likes8CommentsCannot access www.routerlogin.net
I've just received my brand new PR2000. In the first instance I want to use it as a range extender on my home wifi (Router is WNDA3100) - mainly so I can access internet via wifi on my smartphone in the garden (router performance within the house is fine). I've plugged in the PR2000, switched to 'wifi' and managed, whilst still within the house, to 'find' the PR2000 on my smartphone and connect using the password provided. This then takes me to a Netgrear Genie login screen. I've ticked the 'range extender' box, created a name and a passphrase (is 'passphrase' the same as 'password'?) and clicked 'Apply' .... but then nothing happens. When I reopen the smartphone, nothing is remembered it seems. Now I've tried accessing 'www.routerlogin.net' from my PC browser as per the installation guide, but am consistently told 'Page Not Available'. My router and browser are working fine otherwise. Each time I re-start my phone it reverts to my normal wifi connection (ie via the main router). I can get the 'settings' screen on the phone to appear to connect to PR2000 instead (ie it's ticked), but each time it then immediately takes me to the same log-in screen so it's full circle. I'm using WIndows XP.15KViews0likes2CommentsWhat is your longest up time?
My longest up time has been 3 days and then the PR2000 log plagued with [internet disconnected] Must hard reset to get it working properly.(power on/off) re-flashed and reset still same issues. PR2000 setup Hardware Version PR2000 Firmware Version V1.0.0.13_1.0.1 GUI V1.0.0.11 Mode Extender DHCP Off USB Off Email Off Whats your longest up time? Hopefully this is an isolated case.No Support
Why is it that I am unable to obtain support for my PR2000 that I purchased at an authorized retailer only 4 months ago? NetGear claims that the device has a 1 year "warranty", but refuses to support it during the warranty period without me paying for "premium" support? I'll never purchase another NetGear or Cisco piece of garbage again. My PR2000 will not stay connected as a wireless bridge. CONSTANTLY reboots. I've tried everything that I can find in the forums, to no avail. So when I finally reach out to the so-called "support" group at NetGear... nothing but closed tickets telling me to spend $40 on premium support! This piece of garbage wasn't worth the $50 I've already wasted on it... why would I throw more good money down the drain? I didn't. I bought a HooToo. Now I just want to take my hammer and smash this overpriced paperweight into a hundred pieces and mail it back to them. Anyone have an address? I can't even get THAT out of the "support" people.13KViews0likes9CommentsHelp! Can't access PR2000 setup page
So I am on my second device (first one replaced by customer service) and now am beyond my initial support period. My PR2000 is working but for some reason I am unable to access it via routerlogin.com or .net I can connect to it, and I can use it to access the internet (I am using it now), but it will not let me get to the setup page. Just get a "Safari cannot fond the server" message. And, yes, I have tried the factory reset several times. I know that the firmware needs to be updated but I can't get there. Any other options? Hello, I received today the Netgear Trek PR2000. I'm using it in router mode and I'm having some issues with my Mac. After some minutes the router seems to freeze and I can't load any web pages. Even the web interface becomes unresponsive. The strange thing is that with other devices, including an iPhone, everything seems to be ok while on my Mac web pages are stuck loading. I suspect there may be a problem in the way DNS settings are passed from the router to the Mac, but even entering the DNS info directly into my Mac doesn't solve the issue. I tried changing the router's DNS settings from my ISP ones to Google DNS but no luck. I'm looking forward to a solution or a firmware upgrade (by the way, I'm already on the last one). Thank.11KViews0likes2CommentsCreating WiFi from wired connection.
I have a laptop that connects into a hard wired (and locked in place) docking station. I would like to take an ethernet cable from the laptop to the PR2000 to create a WiFi access point from my laptops internet. Basically piggy backing off the laptop. I had a PQI airpen which allowed this by connecting to USB for power and then from ethernet port to PQI airpen. The only issue with it was the security wasn't too great on the PQI. Is this possible to do with the Netgear?11KViews0likes4CommentsAny way to set router NOT to look for internet access
I'm using the router out in the field and needing to just connect some wifi devices, Eventually the devices will connect to it, but it does it a lot faster when it's not looking for an internet connection. Is there any way to set the router to just act as a bridge, and forget the internet?11KViews0likes2Comments
