When I had a 100/10 cable Internet connection, I used the QoS feature to keep buffer bloat to a minimum. I upgraded to a fiber 300/300 connection today, and when I set the QoS to 300/300, I get about half that speed and buffer bloat is still there. I updated the firmware. It didn't fix the problem. Can this router not QoS a connection this fast?SolvedR8000 QOS Performance Optimization Database Not Updating
Hello, Whenever I try to update the Performance Optimization Database in the QoS, it says that it hasn't been updated, despite it from the end of 2015 (version 1.80,1.0.26 from 12/28/2015). My router has the most recent firmware update available, as shown in the picture. I had it set to automatically update before, so I didn't think about it too much. I updated my parents' R7000 to a newer firmware, and after I checked their QoS settings. They already had a newer version on the database, and when I hit the update button, their router was offered and even newer version (unfortunately, I don't have that version date or number notated). I started to research my issue when I came accross another thread about the same thing ( https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/R8000-QOS-how-do-you-set-new-applications/m-p/1244609#M51975 ) and the official response from ElaineM was that "We will be providing regular updates on the QoS database on our routers with Dynamic QoS" and "We will inform the community if it becomes available" on April 6th. I can't find any more recent info on this problem. Is the R8000 getting any more QoS Performance Optimization Database updates? Why is it currently not pulling down the current updates? When can we expect a solution to this issue? I love this router to an unreasonable degree (it helped me fix most of my network issues, has amazing Wi-Fi range, and very rarely needs any tinkering or reboots if any issues do arise), and would like to keep all aspects of it updated. Thank you for your help.Solved20KViews4likes30CommentsNightHawk AC1900 Model R7000 Speed test QOS
Using windows 10 firmware is always up to date So i been getting Internet spikes on my gaming console i will oftenly lag out of game but Internet does not go off it comes back on in a couple of Seconds. Been having this issue since 7/21/2017 i was doing a wager match cause i play competitive Call of Duty and i got booted offline twice maybe and more than that so idk if that messed it up or not. I did reset both modem and Router multiple times hope this is good enought info.Solved5.4KViews0likes2CommentsNighthawk R7000 -- WIRELESS speeds FASTER than wired speeds
Hi this is my first post here and it's a weird one for me. I've been running QoS for a while without issue but it seems like after an update and I'm not sure which one my Ethernet speeds have severely throttled. At first there wasn't a dynamic QoS and I went in and manually set what devices I wanted to have highest priority which was my game consoles since they also serve as multi media devices as well. For some strange reason my downloads are capped at no higher than 10Mbps and I get 100 from my ISP but on wifi it way faster. It wasn't always like this. So after a recent update I seen Dyanmic QoS and said let's try it and my Ethernet download speeds went up to normal like 80 on the console while upload stayed around 5 which is fine. All of a sudden My speeds tanked completely. Now I'm barely getting 10 down and 1 up. Should I just turn off QoS? I reverted back to advanced QoS for now because with dynamic on I couldn't join my brother in a pvp match. With advanced settings I'm able to only problem is my wired speeds get throttled a lot. I'm thinking either I turn QoS off or should I bother downgrading the firmware? I know I probably said too much but I'm just trying to be clear. Hope I was. Thanks for any replies.Solved7.9KViews0likes10CommentsX4 R7500v2 New Firmware Rolls back QoS???
In the last couple of weeks I hit the firmware update button to check for anything new, and it installed 1.0.3.10. I thought cool. Then I went over to QoS and checked for an update there. It was running an update dated June 2016 - I did not however catch the version number. It downloaded an update and after, I checked, and the new version is dated April 2015. What the heck? I keep trying to update, but no joy. I did read some old thread about bad keys in the firmware causing problems with past QoS updates, so all I can guess is perhaps the new firmware had a problem too? Can one of you mods check into this please? I have no idea how to recover the previous 6/16 QoS version. ThanksSolved6.2KViews0likes17CommentsQoS and the "Broadcom Cut Through Forwarding feature"
Hi, I've got a r7000 which works well with the V1.0.5.60_1.1.86 firmware. I've a USB drive and a Buffalo NAS connected to it. I have been poking around the forums and came across a post which recommended to disable QoS since it impedes the "Broadcom Cut Through Forwarding feature". I can not find much about that feature so I was wondering why I need it to the extent that I should disable QoS? I have a 150 mbps down connection if that matters in this context. I'm not much of a gamer but I do stream media from the NAS all the time to computers and TVs, and then there's of course Netflix which runs on one or more devices at all times. Othewise the good 'ol Internet use on phones laptops and desktops. //CSolved17KViews0likes6CommentsNot getting full bandwidth 300/20 on r7500v2
ISP- Time Warner Cable Speed - 300/20 Router - nighthawk x4 r7500v2 Firmwares I've tried - 10.0.24 - .28 I currently have the Arris DG1670A modem/router in BRIDGED mode and the nighthawk r7500v2 connected. When I test speeds in the QOS speedtest the highest is 124mb/s. I do speedtest on speedtest.net and it goes from 320 and drops to about 120-210mb/s. Same applies with speedOf.me speedtest and DSLreports. Then there are timessage where I only get about 15mb/s down but I have to keep rebooting or restoring to factory settings to get back to the higher speeds mentioned. I'm currently at a loss on what actually is the problem. I just bought the router two days ago. Yes, when I plug directly into modem I get full speeds even 320mb/s at times as well.Solved6.2KViews0likes7Comments
