Just update to the latest and greatest firmware for the R8000, but now the Genie app fails to do much like update the network map and the device listing cannot be updated directly from the router. I have reset the router via both the hardware reset and via the web interface. Same problem. Ideas? A firmware miss? I've also noticed the Speedtest little animation is not there anymore either. Is this all in the name of the Disney stuff netgear loaded? Please return functionality to the router!Solved4.3KViews1like5CommentsR8000 no longer connects remotely with Genie app after latest firmware
The Genie app was finally working the way it was supposed with pausing connections, etc but then I went an upgraded to the latest firmware and its hosed up Genie. It shows two routers now, one with a serial and one without. I can't connect to the one with the serial number anymore. The second one lists as R8000 (N/A) and doesn't allow remote access. Anybody have any idea what happened here? It's like the firmware upgrade created a duplicate router entry in Netgears DB and they don't match anymore. Please help!!13KViews0likes42CommentsR8000 not recognized by Genie on Apple.
Genie tells me it cannot find my R8000; I do not know how to determine if Time Werner or ADT reset my settings to "Guest," or if "pv...whatever," is on. Called Netgear support and lady was more interested in selling me $109.00 extended warranty than helping me.3.2KViews1like1CommentMASSIVE SECURITY PROBLEM - Genie Logs Into Neighbor's Router
When I am connected to my network via WiFi and either open up the Genie application, or go to routerlogin.net on a browser, I see a neighbor's R4500, rather than my R8000. When I connect to my R8000 via Ethernet, everything looks like it should. His SSIDs and mine are different. What is more disturbing is that I have admin access to his router and network, and I can see all his devices, as well as my own. I am sure hoping that this doesn't go both ways, and he has admin access to my router and my whole network. I have tried changing my SSIDs, disabling broadcast of them, and rebooting the router multiple times. Nothing fixes this strange and disturbing security breach. What should I do?10KViews1like27CommentsParental Controls, Genie, and
I discovered that my Parental Controls, which had previously been set and were working just fine, had somehow become disabled. So I fired up Netgear Genie on my Mac and hit the Parental Controls Tab. Genie has to "check the router firmware", which it tries for minutes on end before finally telling me "You don't appear to be connected to the Internet. Please connect to the Interrnet through you NETGEAR router and try again.", which is totally false—I'm connected right now! Would love to get ideas on: 1.) Why the PC's were disabled in the first place? 2.) Why the R8000 (running Firmware 1.0.3.46) tells me I'm not connected to the Internet both in Genie and when I log into 192.168.1.1? 3.) How to fix this and get my PC's re-established And finally, I've owned Netgear routers for years and have been using Genie for years now. I've NEVER been able to just Quit the app on my Mac. Selecting Quit freezes the application—I always have to Force Quit it to get out of it (which is why I only use it as a last resort, preferring to log in through my browser).3.3KViews0likes3CommentsEither u fix the iPhone iOS App or make a mobile version of the website
I have R8000 nighthawk router. I have an iOS 10.3.2 iPhone 6s Plus. For a while now, the app hasn't been working. Can't even login and it keeps throwing the error "router not supported or not found. Make sure the IPv6 is disabled. I have checked and checked and restarted the iPhone, router, reinstalled the app. Nothing works. Atleast give a mobile version of routerlogin.net so we can login thruough the browser. Help me with this please, anyone else having this issue?4.5KViews0likes10Comments
