Hi support, for improove security using extender, the "Access control" should be configurable in block mode for all except for withelisted MAC address. This is the best parctice mode to avoid breach in an exitent wifi network. Possible scenario: - Exitent wifi: MYWIFI - Configuration: only approved mac address in whitelist can join the network - Add ax1600 extender with access control enabled. If an unwanted client discover the password of MYWIFI network, can connect to the network using the signal repeated from Access point This will cause a security breach. Should be enough have the possbility to block all NOT whitelisted mac address on the extender when enabling "access mode" function207Views0likes0CommentsAbility to adjust the power transmission level of extender
Hi Netgear Team, I am quite sensitve on the wireless signal and I often felt headache when next to the router. I usually lower the power transmission level of my router. However, i couldn't find this settting for the newly bought EAX20. Could this feature be added to the later firmware? It's very important to me and other wireless signal sensitive people! Thanks!203Views0likes0CommentsEAX80 Extender Wifi Coverage area setting has been removed
I just bought EAX80 extender. This is the latest top of the line extender from Netgear. I bought this extender to make sure it works seamlessly with Netgear Nighthawk router. EAX80 extender Manual states that Wifi coverage area/Output power level can be set for this unit, but latest firmware updates have removed this functionality. I bought this unit assuming that extender with the most capability will have the best ability to pickup signal from my distant wireless router. I need the extender to connect devices in my garage that are quite close to the extender, and dont want to broadcast signal beyond my garage to the street, hence the desire to reduce the output power. It is dissappointing that a feature listed in the manual has been removed from the firmware. I hope Netgear fixes this issue, else I will be returning the unit. I spoke to product support (case #45616636 & 45641556) and they suggest to post my request here!171Views0likes0CommentsOrbi RBS850 satellite as ethernet hub only?
It would be nice if I could use one or more of my Orbi RBS850 satellites only as an ethernet hub only and not as an access point for wifi devices and just use the backhaul for direct ethernet connectivity. So then I might buy more of them instead of running more CAT5E cable around my house.198Views0likes0Commentshttps://community.netgear.com/t5/Idea-Exchange-For-Home/idb-p/idea-exchange-for-home
Enable MR60 router to be added to an existing Nighthawk Mesh WiFi 6 network (MR60). It's cheaper to purchase systems than individual extenders/satellites. In my case, I had an older MR60 Mesh Network that came with 2 satellites. 1 of the satellites stopped working. Instead of purchasing one new satellite, I chose to purchase the same package because it was on sale. Providing this fuctionality would enable customers like myself to make the MR60 router act as a statellite without being wired to an existing satellite or the base router. Working as an "wireless access point" would not provide any benefit because it would be a "new" network with relative the same coverage as what the device is wired into.190Views0likes0Comments
