Make products greener and reparable

It is time to rethink your business for the planet sake and to put people back in the loop.

It would be nice to have centers in the major countries that repair faulty products, like the good old days, decades BN (before Netgear)!!

Unrealistic and impractical. It isn't simply a case of replacing chip A with chip B.

Most environmental activists acknowledge that some devices are not amenable to repair and upgrade, but they also insist that suppliers have effective recycling schemes. In this way, nothing goes to landfill, and valuable materials are recovered and reused.

In Europe we have the WEEE directive:

Waste electronic equipment - Environment - European Commission

If you live in  a backward country that does not support similar schemes, lobby for it, and insist that suppliers provide the same services, even if the law does not demand it.

    Netgear already backs WEEE:

WEEE Directive | Regulatory/Export Compliance | About Us | NETGEAR

  • I understand your point but that would make sense to have this option too.

If your car has a broken A/C or bumper you will not trash your car, you will repair and fix it.

Cars and routers are hardly the same. Would you repair or recycle your tyres?

  • I find it very difficult to understand the Netgear Policy to End of life a 4 y/o router.

The environmental cost on our planet is soaring high we should moderate our consumption as customers and manufacturers should restrain themselves and push the EoL further and further away.

Netgear should allow users to bring their failed devices in repair centers and repair them.
