10 TopicsCannot access my router settings (log-in) in any way (factory reset'd several times)
Hey everyone, before I start I want to apologize if this is not the correct section to post this thread. The router I currently own is this one (click here) and I simply cannot access my router settings (routerlogin.com or 192.168.1.1) I do get the text box to input my username : password but all the login infos I've looked up in google won't work. Text Box I get to see. I tried multiple sites to check for login info and none work, one of those being this huge "2018 updated" list: https://www.lifewire.com/netgear-default-password-list-2619154 At the beggining I thought it could be my router messing stuff around because sometimes I got a message saying "Your conenction is not secure" so I tried on MS Edge and then on Firefox, no luck either. I decided to contact ISP, blah, blah, for security reasons they cannot give me admin : password (not sure why?) [My ISP provided me this Netgeat router, I didn't buy it by myself]. Anyhow I did not care about what they said because I used to have TrendNET router and could access to my router settings with no interference from them; the next big step I did was holding the little "factory reset" until the power light started to blink (Not sure if it's held more time it might do something). After factory reset I got the default SSID and PW of the network, I logged in, and had to "log-in" to the network, the only thing it said was the SSID and PW I already knew and 2 buttons, one was to print all the info and the other one to proceed and "activate" the internet. Tried all the possible combinations of admin : password after factory reset and no luck either, no I'm stuck with a SSID called "SureWest-f1" instead of the custom SSID I want. I remember once after a while (because I gave up and submitting a live chat here required a proof of purchase which I don't have because like I mentioned before, my ISP gave this to me) I remember attempting to factory reset it again like 4+ times, and only ONE of them allowed me to access the router info, I had like 3 options to choose, continue with net, configure settings, etc. (instead of the print thing screen I mentioned before) but amazingly unlucky me something happened and after settings everything I wanted, the save button or whatever it was simply didn't work, didn't have connection anymore, had to factory reset again and since then I haven't ever been able to access my router settings apart from that lucky try. (Not exactly sure WHAT I did that one time, maybe I held the factory reset button longer? Who knows..) I'd really like to access my router settings to change SSID how I want, custom password, and doing some port-forwarding. Please any help is appreciated, my ISP just won't help me, they're limiting me what to do with my OWN router.SolvedNETGEAR AC1900 - How to change Default rout password, I have done this in past.. Can't figure it out
I have a netgear AC1900 I need to change the basic standard default password that is used to get into the Router. I'm not talking about the network password. It comes standard with Admin and "Password"... I have always changed it, as in any real business environment it is a must to have this changed and secured. I did see another posting- but it had NO information.. just a guy getting condending about nobody needs to do this but the CIA .. FBI.. was crazy- apparently doesn't work in a real business enviroment- and just wants to ream people. I see someone else was asking but really just gave up after they got blasted by that guy.. and the thread was closed with no real answer - just that it can't be done.. of course it can... Please if anyone has the procedure to do this simple change on the AC1900 please let me know. Thank you in advance!SolvedWNDR3300v1 - Router not working
Our wireless connection went out, so I made sure everything was connected and restarted the router. This did not fix the connection. Then I check with our provider to see if our Internet connection was good and it was. I discovered that even when I plugged my computer directly into the router I could not get a connection. Is there a way to fix the router or do I need to get a new one?SolvedWNDR3400v3 N600 Wireless Dual Band Router password reset instructions don't work
I don't understand why when I ran antivirus software it alerted me I have a weak router username and password. I have set a new username and password and have clicked "apply." But when I follow the instructions which are copied>pasted, below, I get to step 2. and it only accepts the *old* username and password to log in as described in step 2. Then when I do step 4 and click on "Wireless," it opens up the page and displays the *new* updated SSID and Passphrases, NOT the *old* username and password I had to type in in step 2. Why do they not match? I want to update my "too weak" username and password but it does not appear to be saving it based on going through the provided steps, below. Even more confusing: Step 6 is not accurate because there is no field with that name. There is a field named "passphrase," but not a field named "Password (Network Key)." I have clicked the "apply" button but then when I log out and try to log back in again, once again it asks for a username and password but will only take the *old* one, and my antivirus scan repeats that the username and password are still too weak. Here are the steps NETGEAR offers me online for my model: Article ID: 23439 To change your WiFi password or network name (SSID): Launch an Internet browser and type http://www.routerlogin.net into the address bar. If you are having problems accessing routerlogin.net, visit Router login page cannot be displayed or is blank. Enter the router user name and password when prompted. The default user name is admin. The default password is password. Click OK. The BASIC Home page displays. Select Wireless. Enter your new user name in the Name (SSID) field. Enter your new password in the Password (Network Key) fields. Click the Apply button. Your changes are saved.Solvedsame router, new isp and new modem now router not recognized
Hello and thank you in advance for your assistance! I recently moved and changed isp (to Time Warner Cable) and had to buy a modem (Arris SB6141). I have an internet connection with the modem by itself, but when I connect the router I have no internet connection. I tried the Netgear genie and the message displayed is: "netgear router is not found or not supported. Also make sure the device is not connected to the guest network of the router and that no IPv6 is enabled." I assumed I'd need to change the MAC ID since the modem has changed, but since the computer doesn't recognize the router (same computer) and I can't get an internet connection with the router, I can't change any of the settings. Can anyone help, please? Thank you!Solvedhow to set up a guest user - model r6300
Hello I need some help on setting up a guest user on my router. I would greatly appreciate your help! :) (I had just posted a new discussion on this, but I'm not sure if it went through so I'm posting it again. sorry about that!) I am on the routerlogin.net, and would like to set up a guest user. do i pick 2.4ghz or 5ghz? which boxes do I click on? its already automatically checked on the 'enable ssid broadcast'. which security options do I pick? I only want to allow them to use the internet, and I want the best security. I just dont want them to have any access to my personal things. I heard WPA2 is the best. should i check that? all of my devices are pretty new- about 3 years old at most. If someone could help me on this issue that would be great! thank you so much in advance. alvinaSolvedN300 WNR2000v2 Wireless Router slow download speed
Hey, I have Time Warner Cable as my internet service provider. I used to pay for 50 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload speeds. I used to get those speeds when connected to my Netgear router through wifi fine. Two days ago Time Warner Cable updated our internet to 200 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload speed. When connected from laptop to modem given by Time Warner, the speeds are fine. However, when connected to my Netgear router through wifi, I am now only getting around 30 Mbps download but the upload has gone up to around 20 Mbps. So basically Time Warner upgraded my internet but Netgear has dropped my download speed and raised my upload speed. Some of my router settings: Channel - Auto Mode - 300 Mbps Security is on AES option. My default router MTU was 1492. I tried changing that to numerous options such as 1400, 1440, 1460, ect. but speeds remained the same. I put it back to 1492. I have tried disabling WMM,changing DNS, as well as changing channels. No change in speeds. Please help with this. Thanks.Solved
