65 TopicsSXK80 Inter-VLAN Firewall Rules
It would be helpful if the SRK80 router supported defining firewall rules between VLANs. This would enable administrators to allow limited access to devices in other VLANs, more precisely than "Network Isolation" on (completely closed) or off (completely open). A common use case of this feature would be to place IoT devices such as Chromecasts on an IoT VLAN and allow personal devices such as smartphones to control these IoT devices from a personal VLAN, withouth allowing IoT devices to access the personal VLAN. An example of this use-case is illustrated in OpenWRT which is already what the Orbi Pro Wifi 6 firmware is based on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvniZs8q3eU&t=310s6.8KViews18likes12CommentsBR500/BR200 DHCP Options
Hello, the DHCP server is a bit "basic". Would it be possible to integrate some Options in the BR500 router and be able to manage them in the Insight portal. This would be a great advantage to maintain small sites with SIP phones. Option 2 (Time Zone Offset) Option 4 (Time Server) Option 60 (vendor ID) Option 66 (TFTP or HTTP server in stringvalue) Option 114 (URL) Option 120 (P-CSCF address) Thank You, Edouard1.1KViews5likes0CommentsPR60X and PR460X enable LAN4 (SFP+ Port) as WAN Port
Here in Switzerland, basically every Home has direct 10Gbit Fibre to Home. Some Providers allow to use our own Routers (Init7), some maybe are interested in a co-orperation: Salt, Sunrise, Swisscom, UPC If you would enable LAN4 Port, which is a 10Gbit SFP+ Port, as WAN, we would all spare us Mediaconverters from Fibre to 10Gbase-T So please consider releasing an alternative Firmware (or general firmware) to select and use LAN4 as WAN Port. Also consider to contact Swiss Internet Providers, they need good User managable Router Solutons. Market is dim here. Thanks!!!1.5KViews4likes0CommentsDHCP - Need to release IP addresses
Hi, I want a "release" function on UTM50 as it is in many other routers. We often do a lot of test on PDA's and tablets and the IP addresses is not enough. The test itself take maybe 15 minutes and then we take one more units and so on (we also have 5 to 10 units at the same time). The standard lease is 24 h and we have lowered it to 1 h but that is not enough for us. A simple release function should do the trick, then we can release the units we want or just release all. This function is on a lot of routers today.15KViews4likes1CommentTraffic shaping
Please add Traffic Shaping to the BR500. Let admins prioritise a specific VLAN and limit or garantee a given amount of bandwidth. For Example: WAN connection 50Mbps UP/DOWN VLAN1 contains servers VLAN2 contains desktops VLAN3 contains VOIP phones VLAN4 wifi office VLAN5 wifi guests When Windows Updates are downloaded on the servers each day at rondom moments, users complain that connections to Office365 is slow. Also during the day users complain that VOIP calls are disconnected of audio quality suffers. Sometimes when Guests are using the Wifi, all these problems seem to happen aswell. Solution: Create a traffic shaping rule for VLAN1: Set the priority to medium and limit the maximum bandwitdh to 30Mbps shared. Create a traffic shaping rule for VLAN2: Set the priority to medium no limits Create a traffic shaping rule for VLAN3: Set the priority to high and set a garanteed bandwitdh of 5Mbps shared. Create a traffic shaping rule for VLAN4: Set the priority to medium no limits Create a traffic shaping rule for VLAN5: Set the prioriy to low and limit the maximum bandwitch to 5Mbps per session.3KViews3likes1CommentSupport for openvpn (SRX5308)
Is it possible to configure the SRX5308 as a VPN server supporting openvpn clients? I have a remote router that can connect as a VPN client over PPTP, L2TP and OpenVPN. I have excluded using PPTP because of security concerns and L2TP because I understand that the connection is not encrypted. That leaves me with only OpenVPN, but I cannot see that SRX5308 supports this. Would Netgear consider an enhancement request?15KViews3likes1Commentvlan (ipv6 futureproofing)
Hi, We have a SRX5308 and a couple of FVS336 as well as a few other routers. We are futureproofing our corporate network by deploying ipv6 in parallel of ipv4. our address scheme was chosen as to be as simple for the admins as possible : ipv4 : 10.bbb.ccc.ddd (where bbb also denotes the vlan) ipv6 : fdgg:gggg:gggg:bbb::ccc:ddd:1 it's been deployed within the network, and it runs fine, no issues. our primary firewall-routerchain (not netgear) is also updated and works. I'm now trying to configure one of the netgear, and I'm discovering the issue where the ipv6 mode doesn't support vlan (at least through the GUI). is there any way to actually make ot work (telnet ?) or am I wasting my time, and should at some point replace them with other hardware ?15KViews3likes1Comment
