Hello, We have recently replaced the 1 TB disks in our ReadyNAS unit with 8 TB Seagate disks and the upgrade went smoothly. However, since the upgrade, we're getting random automatic shutdowns of the whole unit. The logs show that this was because temperatures of different disks reach a critical point of 61 C. I already set the fans to be "Balanced" and to even the maximal setting to "Cool". What is strange is that in the web interface, the SATA SMART information does not consistently show the disk temperatures. Sometimes the temperatures are blank and if I hover over the disk it shows "-1 C". Is there a known compatibility problem reading the SMART fields from these disks? Does anyone have a solution to this other than the unsafe option to uncheck the shutdown if the disks get too hot? Thanks. Hello, I'm asking this here since I haven't found the answer to my questions (sorry if I missed it!). I would like to know if it's possible to use with a ReadyNas102 the following Seagate hard drives: - Barracuda LP ST 32000 542AS (2 TB) - and a Seagate Barracuda 7200 T12 ST 31000 528AS (1 TB) I'm not trying to do a "raid", I just want to connect them together and get a total of 3 TB as storage. Also, is it better to let it on all the time, 24h/7, or should I turn it off when I'm done at the end of the day? Thanks in advance for your help.Seagate Enterprise ST6000VN001 on Readynas Pro/Pro6
I was wondering if any Legacy Pro/Pro 6 owners have tried using any of the newer Seagate Enterprise disks that follow: 6TB (ST6000VN0001) or 5TB (ST5000VN0001). I am running OS6, the Pro nas is no longer covered by Netgear warranty. I have back-ups of my data. My intention would be to expand beyond 24tb. Any ideas, opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreicated.ST2000VN000 on the Duo V1 - thoughts?
I'm upgrading my Duo V1's drives from 1TB to 2TB (raid 1) After doing a bit of research, my decision came down to the ST2000VN000 or the WD20EFRX. (I considered the ST2000DM001, but that seemed to get a lot of mixed reviews.) Anyway, I'm leaning on the ST2000VN000. Is anyone using the ST2000VN000 on a Duo V1? Anyone have any recommendations for a 2TB drive for the Duo V1 ? -Thanks in advance!ST2000DM001 reliability experience ?
Seems like the only option I can easily get for 2TB that is on the HCL for my NV+ is this drive. I note a previous topic where users were experimenting with and starting to use this drive in their NAS systems and was wondering what experiences you have had with them in terms of reliability. I ask because when I look at reviews for this drive from my usual supplier, I see quite a few that pan it for reliability reasons. This makes me think twice about going ahead with a purchase, so would like to cut through some FUD and get info from NAS users on this drive. My alternatives are to get a WD20EFRX or ST2000NM0033 (ie: some NAS quality drives, neither of which is on HCL for NV+, though). Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences!ST3000DM001 3TB + ReadyNas Ultra 2
Hi. I was wondering if anyone have any experience with these HDD's in the Ultra 2. I have searched the forum and seen that they work with Pro 6's and such, but was just wondering if anyone have any experience with this in a Ultra 2. I know you have to update the firmware to the latest to support 3tb. But as these disk's are not on the HCL for the unit, im just wondering Disk: ST3000DM001 Thanks in advance. //Bumbi85Seagate ST32000644NS & ReadyNAS Pro 6
Hello, I have a ReadyNAS Pro 6 with 4 ST32000644NS 2TB drives. I'd like to fully populate my ReadyNAS, but these drives are no longer current. The hardware compatibility list only lists two Seagate Constellation 2TB drives. This one and the ST2000NM0011, which is also old (and I believe is just ES, not ES2). There are no newer drives in the list. Am I best to try and track down two of these drives (ST32000644NS) somewhere or can I use the newer versions of these drives? What risks am I taking if I do that? It looks like there is a ST32000645NS which appears to be a newer version of the Constellation ES2 drive. Would I be safe to use that? Thanks. Matt
