HI, I have a NAS at my place of Hikvision, and i am able to access that on my mobile through 4g or different network outside my place. But its not accesible on local LAN or wifi. What are the possible issues? Its working on local 80 port but not on https which is normally used by the mobile application to connect.855Views0likes1Comment6.9.2 patch has spectre/meltdown fix - How?
On 1/13 linus pulled the bad intel patch from intel because it was "garbage" (his words not mine). On 1/28 he releases an acceptable version. Netgear puts out 6.9.2 on 1/16. How did netgear get anything other than the first version that was unnacceptable? Will there be a followup to include the 2nd round of change from the linux commmunity?Solved1.2KViews1like1CommentCannot change Root SSH Key Pair
Hi We are using Model: ReadyNAS 3220 firmware version 6.4.2 Environment - Web interface We have been using this for sometime and have been using the backup feature. The problem is that in all this time the root ssh key pair has not been rotated. We would like to keep our data and system secure by changing the ssh key pair of the root user. I tried switching on and off ssh on the device using the dashboard, but that just disabled and re-enabled the same key pair. 1. Go to System menu 2. Go to Settings sub menu 3. click on SSH 4. Click on Download SSH key file. ---This is root SSH Public Key--- I would like to change this so I have a new key and my system is secure. We are using the Rsync over SSH option for our backups. Thanks in advance and taking the time to read this.Solved2.2KViews0likes5CommentsAny plans for Samba fix for CVE-2017-7494 ?
I posted elsewhere about this, but CVE-2017-7494 NEEDs to be patched on any device still in operation, and I think that includes the older, technically out of support models that I have 6 of. With Microsoft recommending disabling SMB 1.0 because of Wannacry and related security issues, it seems like an ideal time for Netgear to show some leadership and update SMB on all it's devices to address this security issue and to allow people to use older devcies with SMB 2 or 3 support.Solved23KViews0likes19CommentsNot Secure | https://xxx.xxx.x.x/admin/ Using a ReadyNAS 2100

I seem to be encountering another difference between how OS6 works compared to OS 4. I know I can achieve my objective by using another protocol or swapping source / destination around, but that isn't really the point, so could I ask for some help please. I am creating a third version of my data on an RN104. Having examined the 3 versions I have identified a few differences which I want to correct at an individual folder level using Rsync. I have successfully created and run an rsync job transferring data from a local share on a Duo to a remote rsync server on a Duo. The job was created and ran first time with no issues. I then amended the job, simply changing the destination IP address and attempted to transfer data from the first Duo to my RN104. The job fails, for unknown reason, with the backup job log containing the following sending incremental file list rsync: read error: Connection reset by peer (54) rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(759) [sender=3.0.6] I have downloaded the logs on the RN104 and system.log shows the following (IP address and destination folder edited out) Mar 07 22:59:26 NAS_104 rsyncd[7702]: name lookup failed for 172.16.x.xx: Name or service not known Mar 07 22:59:26 NAS_104 rsyncd[7702]: connect from UNKNOWN (172.16.x.xx) Mar 07 22:59:26 NAS_104 rsyncd[7702]: rsync to [Destination] from UNKNOWN (172.16.0.50) Mar 07 22:59:26 NAS_104 rsyncd[7702]: ERROR: module is read only Mar 07 22:59:26 NAS_104 rsyncd[7702]: rsync error: syntax or usage error (code 1) at main.c(999) [Receiver=3.1.1] I successfully tested the connection both on an anonymous basis and using the admin user / password Any idea what is going on ? Does rsync need to be read/write, and if so how do you configure it, or is the RN104 denying access because it doesn't recognise the source NAS.Solved2.2KViews0likes2CommentsEdge Browser Certificate Error
We've moved to using Microsoft EDGE browser as standard (tired of using 3 browsers one for each "thing" it does best. Trying to muscle through this transition. This should be an "easy find" in the community forums, but there's only one post on Edge, and the most recent I could find on browswer certificates was 2009 and 2012... ;-/ On some Windows 10 environments (new systems, or clean installs, no garbage build-up in registry...) we are getting certificate errors. "There’s a problem with this website’s security certificate" and presented with the usual warning not to procede. What's the shortest way to add the ReadyNAS system's certificate to be seen by the Microsoft EDGE browser as a "safe" website?Solved17KViews0likes4CommentsReadyNAS 104 Firmware 6.6.1 File Folder Permissions help / Network access file access
Hello everyone. I've been using ReadyNAS for a few years and I have fairly simple file access security requirements. I have stumbled upon the "right" settings a few times and have just left it for ages. I'm now trying to change something and I realise again how little I understand what's going on here. Any help would be great. What I want: Backup SMB Share Admin user: Read/write Test user: Read only Everyone else: nothing. IE no guest access etc. How I assumed this is achieved: What I get with the above settings. Admin account works: When I browse the share in Windows 10 File Explorer it asks for credentials, I use admin and I’m in with Read/Write permissions. Test account gets denied: “You do not have permission to access \\readynas\backup. Contact your network administrator to request access.” Note, troubleshooting is confusing as I’ve found after mapping it with admin, “net use del \\readynas\backup” doesn’t work. So I need to reboot to properly unmap and troubleshoot with another account. Not a big deal but an FYI if someone else is having inconsistent results.2.2KViews0likes2Comments
