23 TopicsBackup Exec RALUS Add-on [13.0.5204.1]
What is it?: Backup Exec Remote Agent for Linux and UNIX servers (RALUS). What is required: ReadyNAS x86 system (NVX,Pro,2100,3100,3200,4200,Pro2/4/6), Symantec Backup Exec with RALUS license. (NV+/1100 are not supported) Where to get it: BackupExec_13.0.5204.1-x86.bin (10/27/11) Like other ReadyNAS add-ons, install it in FrontView via System>Update>Local. How to use it: Once installed, you can see it listed in FrontView>Services>Installed Add-ons. In there, you can set the IP of your Backup Exec server, so the agent can properly announce itself to the backup server. ReadyNAS.com article: Using the Symantec RALUS agent with the ReadyNAS From Backup Exec server, if you create a new backup job, you should see the agent under Favorite Resources>Linux/Unix Servers. If you don’t see it right away, try stopping and starting it via FrontView. The default agent setting is to announce itself every four hours. We may add an option in FrontView to make this time shorter. Please provide feedback of your experience with the RALUS agent. Does it resolve 'agent missing' errors in your backup jobs, does it increase performance?11KViews0likes65CommentsRALUS Agent problems
As I've been beating my head through this forum for hours looking for a solution, I concede its time to ask for help. I am trying to use my readynas 4200 as a backup target for my Backup Exec Server. Key info.. RAIDiator 4.2.21 (was installed today, BEFORE I started messing with the ralus agent) - NAS box is NOT part of an AD environment, workgroup only Windows 2008 R2 - Backup Exec 2010 R3 SP2, Hotfixes 180429 & 176937 installed - part of an AD environment I cannot get BackupExec_13.0.5204.1-x86.bin to work. Gives me the following in my logs Fri Sep 14 01:34:20 EDT 2012 The BackupExec add-on encountered an error during installation. Fri Sep 14 01:34:20 EDT 2012 Backup Exec Remote Agent has been successfully installed. I rebooted the NAS after installation, went to the add-ons panel, entered BE server IP, had the pretty green traffic light. But - there were no entries under the Linux/Unix servers section. Rebooted each machine as well to be sure. nada. After uninstalling and re-installing a few times I gave up. I decided to try BackupExec_12.5.3-x86.bin. That seems to work. I see the NAS box under Linux Unix servers now. One problem though, it seems to only work with the user ID ADMIN. No other ID will work. This is also the case when i try to use a user-defined section in BE to go after a nas share. Couldn't find any documentation on user ID usage. Any help appreciated.4.8KViews0likes6CommentsBackup Exec 2014 and x86 ReadyNAS??
Is there any brave soul who has already tried running his/her Readynas x86 ( RAIDiator 4.2.xx) with Backup Exec 2014? Currently I am running BE 2012 (14.0 rev 1798) with the trusty RALUS agent 13.0.5204.1 (2010) and that works ok, apart from the warning in each backup that I need to update my agent but I wonder if the combination BE2014~RALUS 2010 might be taking things one step too far. :|4.6KViews0likes3CommentsReady NAS Backup Exec
hi gurus, i had ReadyNAS Pro 4 and had installed Symantec RALUS Agent. If i checked the Addon logs it shows that Symantec RALUS Agent is running. I'm using SymantecBE 12.5 under windows 2003 OS, when I go to the selection according to the post I had read from this site. That ReadyNAS should be found under Favorites/Linux Unix Server. But the ReadyNAS is not found under Favorites/Linux Unix Server, it's under AD Domains on BackupExec. And every time I tried to select it, BackupExec shows that Symantec Agent is not running. But ReadyNAS logs shows its running. Any ideas for this? Thanks in advance.4.3KViews0likes1CommentSymantec Backup Exec 2010 R3 SP3 - RALUS Update?
Hi All, I have been using Backup Exec 2010 R3 for quite a while with RALUS 13.0 installed on my ReadyNAS 2100, after installing SP3 last night the backup report now requests an update for RALUS but I cannot locate one. "The remote computer is running a previous version of the Backup Exec Remote Agent. You must upgrade the remote agent to enable secure communication between the agent and Backup Exec media servers." Backup Exec 2010 R3 Version 13.0 Rev 5204.1225 (64bit) ReadyNAS 2100 FW 4.2.24 Backup Exec Remote Agent (RALUS) v13.0.0 Any ideas? Cheers, Dan.4.2KViews0likes2CommentsReadyNAS 1100 Backup Exec 2010 jobs failing
Our BackupExec 2010 R2 used to backup our ReadyNas 1100, but lately the jobs are failing with this error message: Check status : Error: e0009b61, The job failed with the following error: The logon account that was provided does not have valid credentials. Ensure that the user name and password are correct, and then try again. This seems very straightforward. We've had to change the domain account that gives permission to resources. When I browse to the readynas1100, and go to Security, Security Mode, our domain information is filled in. I try putting the new account in for Domain Administrator, but just now, after I hit Apply, it seemed to take the new account, and then gave this error: WARNING! Unsuccessful updating this system's DNS record on ADS server. Please check your DNS settings, or manually add this device to your network's DNS records. Then it said Successfully joined domain ... The backup exec test job failed again, with the same error as above. Should I be changing a setting elsewhere in the ReadyNAS 1100 interface or within Backup Exec? It is in DNS correctly, when I check with nslookup. I ran a test backup job and received the same error. I'm still finding my way around both the readynas and this version of backup exec, but I believe the same credentials are used to backup other Windows devices in the domain. What should I try?4.2KViews0likes8CommentsTape based backup?
I'm new to the ReadyNAS product but have a ReadyNAS Pro Business Edition that I'm now responsible for managing. Its only a small company (10 users) so I've set it up as a file server with the NAS handling all the logins/permissions etc. The only thing external I have added is an APC UPS. I need to put in place a backup system that will allow me to take the media off site for safe storage. In the past on the Windows and Novell servers I have managed I have used a tape system, doing incremental backups during the week and partial or full backups at the weekends, but its been quite a while since I have done any of this so my knowledge is a little out of date. The ideal system would be a tape drive I can connect directly to the NAS and software running on the NAS that would perform scheduled backup then all I or my boss would need to do was remember to swap the tapes at the appropriate time. Can anyone recommend a way to do this for the ReadyNAS, I'm looking for a suitable tape drive and software (I have now knowledge of the Backup Exec, or Rsync) Thanks3.9KViews0likes1CommentBackup Exec 2010 R3
Any word on the RALUS agent getting updated for Backup Exec 2010 R3? I had to upgrade Backup Exec to R3 to fix a different problem and now when I backup my ReadyNAS 1500, Backup Exec complains "The remote computer is running a previous version of the Backup Exec Remote Agent. You must upgrade the remote agent to enable secure communication between the agent and Backup Exec media servers." Seems to backup successfully but I hate errors like this and would really like to use the correct agent version.3.8KViews0likes6Comments
