The question I posted in the community was deleted without comment or answer or wahtsoever !!! Not moved - not asekd to post in another category (although I am quite sure it was the correct category) - not contacted... NOTHING! But I was informed that I earned a "1 Topic Created" sign and my status in teh community is now "Follower" - WOW It took me way too much time to register and formulate a very easily understandable and clear request to now be treated in such a way !! All I need is a Firmware that used to be downloadable but was for whatever reason off the site. Netgear asked for my email - so in case you have anything to say to me....5.9KViews0likes1CommentAC1200 Choppy connections, Had N600 Dual-Band, was fine
Well I had a WNDA3100v2 – N600 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter before and it crapped out on me. Looks like it just went dead from years of use. I went to the store and bought the current model that I'm using, the AC1200, I started to experience choppy connections online while gaming. The N600 was fine, no connection issues and only slowed down if other people were heavily using the net. Now my ping time in game is 10-20ms but i'm experiencing spikes where the connection is choppy. I look and I see no fluctuation of ping. Streaming videos is fine, downloads are fine. I installed the new drivers without the genie right off the bat and it was spiking. I then installed the genie to see if it would fix it. Did not work. Reset the router. Still spiking. I'm about to go return it. It seems like it's a hardware issue, weird how the lesser model outperforms.3.1KViews0likes1CommentNew features & desktop interface to view the local wifi signals nearby
Netgear should develop some add-in capabilities to their already developed router firmware. It would be a relatively easy task for the core developers. Signal detection is already there, the analysis of data transmission--including pinging functions--is already there, and the basic interface platform for most operating systems is already there. What more do they need except for a few graphic functions, i.e., radar representations, real-time speed graphics, etc.? The main enhancement that I would like to see is the ability to use my wireless router as a device that can 'see' other wifi's that are operating within signal range. Signal strength, estimated distance to a radio emitter, and a few other information categories would make the use of my wifi router feel a little more secure, rather than operating it blindly from a stable location. I could add a USB wireless adapter, or use an android type device to get the same information, but wouldn't it be nice if my Netgear wireless router could see what a $29 wireless tablet can see? As a business proposition, the added capabilities could provide a far-greater return via marketplace competitiveness through sales than the relatively minor costs associated with the development of firmware code.2KViews0likes0CommentsProper Netgear linux drivers for the whole portfolio
I guess I'm atypical of users worldwide (ref Count of Windows v Count of LINUX Users Worldwide). I have 2 Windows boxes and 2 LINUX boxes. I have each W box for 1 app each - my MKIV SUPRA aftermarket EMS on the W laptop and for Photoshop in my W Desktop. Everything else is done via Linux Mint on two laptops because MS insists that my W machines are theirs not mine so I can't startup the w 10 machine w/o getting an update that forces me to wait an interminable period while the update that was loaded under my radar (during my previous sesion) completes installation and then I have to reinstall my Netgear software so I can get back on the intrnet this session. I sure wish Netgear would hookup with the major flavors of LINUX and provide drivers to the automated software repositories. Thanks!
