Many NTGR business products still have SSL 2.0 and 3.0 and TLS 1.0 as options - nowadays these are obsolete and should be removed, TLS 1.2 is in the field for more then 10 years, so there should be no more prehistorical Web browser still requiring anything different.2.4KViews4likes0CommentsFramed IP's BYOD Solution
We have just had smoothwall implemented and are trying to get BYOD working. Smoothwall have looked into this and stated that our wireless is not providing Framed IP's which is essential to the smoothwall BYOD system working please see notes below: Framed-IP-Address — This contains the IP address of the client that has been authorized to join the wireless network. This attribute is essential to the BYOD service. Could this feature be added in a firmware update? we have 2 wc7600 controllers and over 80 access points so pretty stuck at the moment22KViews3likes6CommentsWC7600v2 really RFC 2866 Radius Accounting Compliant?
Hi Netgear Community, Before I contact Netgear support to give feedback in regards to the quality of their wireless controllers I wanted to seek clarification from Netgear community about an issue we are currently facing at our site. We would like to utilise the Radius accounting information generated by our WC7600v2 (firmware v6.5.1.11) to be utilised by our Windows 2012r2 NPS server. The specific attribute we need is the "Framed-IP-Address" attribute to contain the IP address of the client / user requesting the authentication. This attribute is helpful in identifying successfully authenticated clients to be simultaneously authenticated against other systems i.e. like internet filters. Some internet filters providers utilise agent software that can sit on a Windows NPS server and read the logs generated by the NPS service and automatically apply the appropriate internet access policy to the client devices / users at the moment of wireless authentication essentially providing a Single Sign On process. After attempting to undertake this process at a site that utilises a Netgear WC7600v2 we have come to the conclusion that the WC7600v2 does not provide the Framed-IP-Address. This has been confirmed by reviewing the NPS server logs where Framed-IP-Address radius attribute is 0.0.0.0 for all clients authenticating via the WC7600v2 Thanks to previous advice on this forum, we were able to make contact with Netgear text based support and after sometime the Netgear technician, he was able to confirm that the WC7600v2 does not provide the Framed-IP-Address as part of its radius account response to the NPS (radius) server. This feature maybe included sometime in the future but could not give any ETA on its implementation; he was also able to confirm that other customers of the WC7600 series have requested this feature to be implemented. What my site is trying to perform is something that is not to complex, I have done it many times via cisco / h3c / Aruba controllers and wireless implementations. These devices are more compliant with the RFC 2866 radius standard than what Netgear equipment is, even though your product information sheet (https://www.netgear.com/images/datasheet/wireless/wirelessmanagement/WC7600v2.pdf) states that the controller is complaint with this spec. How are we meant to recommend Netgear equipment to clients in enterprise when the device does not standard up against large enterprise network equipment manufactures. I can understand something like "it will be included in the next firmware release" but when something like "No ETA at this time" it makes us feel like recommending to the site management the entire removal the Netgear wireless implementation and going for something "more enterprise". Do you think if the site invested in Prosafe support agreement it would carry more weight with Netgear in implementing a basic feature like a more extensive implementation of the RFC 2866 accounting standard? I hope that I do not come across as too negative in this forum thread, but was hoping to provide constructive feedback to help improve your products and the process to improve them. The Orbi Pro features one option for Wireless 2 (Employee Access Wireless Network): [ ] Allow employees to see each other and access my local network. This is a giant issue. I, along with many other users posting here would like to use Wireless 2 for a seperate private network for employees that has internet access, but we all need them to see each other and SEE PRINTERS BUT NOT INTERACT WITH OR SEE WIRELESS 1. This is such a simple network isolation feature and just about every other router can do this. Please, PLEASE add one more checkbox to this so I can choose: [ ] Allow employees to see each other on the Wireless 2 network. [ ] Allow employees to access my full local network. That way if I check option 1 employee clients or special guests on Wireless 2 can see and interact with clients on Wireless 2, including printers and are still seperate from clients on Wireless 1. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF CODING, ADD THIS FEATURE!!! Currently (and historically) Netgear does not always show all connected devices. This leads to a loss of user confidence in the web interface and app's ability to reflect the current state. Example- my currently connected NAS is not listed in the Attached Devices even though I previously reserved an IP address for it under Advanced -> LAN Setup. (The NAS indeed is using this reserved address.) The NAS is a wired and active connection but is only visible under Advanced->Access Control-> "View list of allowed devices not currently connected to the network". Notes- 1) other active devices are also listed as inactive. 2) normally Access Control is not implemented - this is the only visibility to devices known to be active. Use case- provide more aggressive active device polling.1KViews1like1CommentNMS300 support for WC7600v2 controller
The latest release of NMS300 still does not recognise the Netgear WC7600v2 wireless controller after 2 years. We have 20 access points managed by our WC7600v2 and have no monitoring tool other than basic ping tests, to aid in our network performance management.1.2KViews1like0CommentsUsage statistics reset and displayed amount
Good day Netgear, I would like to suggest a reset option for the Usage menu in the WC9500 (menu Monitor -> Controller -> Usage). We are using the Controller in an event/conference building, it would be handy to reset it before every event/conference. Also the top 2 graphics show an absurd high volume, the legenda says the counter is in TB, then it shows 700.000M on an AP's 2,4 Ghz channel that's online for 115 days. So that's about 4,23 Million TB per minute on 2,4Ghz? The Usage counter in the menu Monitor -> Summary (most active clients) and in menu Clients is also a bit off, it says Usage(Kbytes) but it is in Bytes like the help file says, and then also 6 digits behind bytes. Clearly a bit too many digits for nowadays internet if you ask me. Other than that, the controller is great!1.3KViews1like0Commentsdefault 16 items on page dropdown menu
I have to mantain 130 accesspoints in a dynamic environment, so have to regurarly change configs in the controller and monitor the accesspoints. It would be great if the default 16 items on page could be configured, because I have to select it every time in every menu to show all. I can understand that in a menu like Clients it's not advisable because of the thousands of clients. But in all the other menus I would prefer to show all by default, or be able to configure that. List of menus: - Access point -> Managed ap list - Configuration -> RF management -> Advanced -> Tx Power Override - Configuration -> RF management -> Channel Allocation -> Channel Overrride - Configuration -> WLAN Network - Monitor -> Controller -> Access Point1.3KViews1like0Comments
