7 TopicsAdd Multiple Access Schedules
I am not sure how this is still NOT a fearure... Under Advanced>Security>Schedule, we should be able to setup multiple schedules for and it should even be per device. Currently, I can set only one schedule for all devices. This is very limiting compared to competing router options: D-Link, etc. I should be able to set MUTLIPLE access schedules on a per-device basis. For example, if I have two devices that I want to restrict when they can access the Internet, I should be able to state on device A it can access the Internet Sunday-Thursday from 4 pm - 10 pm and Friday-Saturday from 10 pm until 1 am. I should then be able to set a different schedule for device B, for example Sunday-Thursday from 6 pm - 11 pm and Friday-Saturday from 8 pm - 11 pm. How this feature wasn't implemented yesterday is beyond me???27KViews4likes16CommentsSRX5308 Blocking Web sites
Hello all, I am trying to block a couple of web sites per managment. Followed instructions in manual about using content filtering. Can't seem to get it to work. Do I need to set up a user group? Add all users to this group then apply the filtering to the group? or am I missing something? Network OS is MS Small Business Server 2008. Can't use ISA server to help. Any questions please ask just not sure what info you need. Any help would be appreciated. :confused:14KViews0likes9CommentsForcing Router DNS / Blocking Port 53 @ Clients
Having just upgraded to Orbi, trying to duplicate my configuration around forcing devices in my home to use the DNS defined manually in the router and not allowing individually connected clients to override with their own cited DNS servers. In my previous Netgear router/AP I went into SECURITY, then BLOCKED SERVICES and added a new rule to block PORT 53 for 192.168.0.2-192.168.0.254 (assuming the router itself @ 192.168.0.1 needed to be open/available). This worked great on my previous Netgear router, but now it blocks all DNS on all attached clients even when they haven't defined any DNS statically. Did something change or am I missing something ? Thx.Specify IP address range for bypass of blocked sites and parental controls
We run a number of Chrome OS devices in our house (and thus can't install the Netgear Genie app on these devices), but would like to bypass blocked keywords/sites/domans and parental controls on these devices (note: plural). Apparently, the router firmware currently only allows specification of only 1 IP address that can bypass the keyword/site/domain blocking. Does anyone else have any ideas of how to allow multiple Chrome OS devices to bypass? Is Netgear planning to implement more granularity for these settings based on IP address ranges anytime soon? Frankly, I expected this from a $250 router when routers from other companies that cost half have this feature.Solved3.4KViews0likes1CommentI want to block my TV from accessing internet but still allow LAN access
Hi, I have a few devices I want to block from accessing the Internet but still allow them local network access. I understand I can block specific port numbers or assign dummy DNS addresses on specific devices... all of which are decent workarounds. But is it possible to just simply tell my router to block WAN access for a specific device IP/MAC address or somthing similar? -Pete1.6KViews0likes1Comment
