Model Number: c7100v Firmware: V2.01.33 OS: Mac High Sierra v10.13.3 Hi guys. I purchased the Nighthawk c7100v dual modem/router so I could stop paying the rental fee through comcast, and it works with the triple play that we have. We have a one story, 4 bedroom home and I've never had an issue with coverage or speed with comcast's Arris dual modem/router that we used for years. My speeds using comcast equipment were 150 Mbps down/5 mbps up. Nothing special, but it does the trick. I installed the Nighthawk, called comcast and activated it, checked connectivity and it was working fine. Very similar speeds using the speedtest.net. That was March 17th, last Saturday. On Sunday, March 18th, I noticed the internet was lagging quite a bit. I checked speedtest and it ran a 6 mbps download/5 mbps upload. I restarted the Nighthawk and tried again, but same result. I am lucky to get 10mbps. I'm not using another router, the placement of the Nighthawk is above anything else, not being blocked by metal or a wall, it's in the living room out in the open. I called comcast and they are sending a technician, but I'd like to try and fix it myself in case it's something you guys can help me with. Thanks for taking the time to read this, hope to see a good answer on here soon. Have a great night! Chef2.2KViews0likes4CommentsXR500 and cm1000

I purchased a c6300 router and registered it with xfinity. The problem is that in the router mode it never gets IP configuration from DHCP. If to switch it to the bridge mode, the connected computer receives configuration properly, so DHCP on the provider side works. I tried to reset it, restore factory settings, release/renew with no result. Using it in bridge mode as a just cable modem does not make sense for me as I am willing to upgrade to the high-speed wifi. Otherwise my previous setup of SB6121 + TP-Link N300 works fine1.5KViews0likes2CommentsNighthawk Extender and Xfinity Router
We purchased a Nighthawk Extender to extend our signal right outside our 2000 SF home. We have high speed Xfinity Comcast Cable used with their router/modem. We set up the Nighthawk as required, near the router, and synced it with the WPS on the router also as required. Both the 2G and 5G networks were created also as required. Both the router and the Nighthawk are located in the center of the home and equidistant to the exterior. The Nighthawk LED is all showing the green LED connection. However, there is no affect on the signal --it doesn't appear to be extended at all, certainly not to the outside. We have tried everything and are completely frustrated. Can anyone help and let us know what step we are missing? Or if the Nighthawk devices simply do not work?5.2KViews0likes2CommentsNot getting correct speed with Comcast
Hello all In November I saw that Comcast offered a higher tier internet service in my neighborhood. Speeds are advertised up to 986 Mbps. Since I signed up I’ve only seen 350-400 Mbps. I had a couple of online chats and phone calls with Comcast. I also had two techs come to the house to check the signal to the house. The second tech said that Comcast had to approve new firmware for my CM1000 modem (this was in December). He said that once Comcast approved the firmware then Netgear would push the upgrade to my modem directly. I called to try to get credit for billing since I wasn’t getting the correct speeds and I was forced to chat with Comcast tech support again. The tech sent me a link to the Nighthawk X6 router firmware page to update my CM1000 cable modem :| When I told them it was the wrong equipment they told me to contact Netgear directly to receive my firmware update. I sent this link to him. https://www.netgear.com/support/product/CM1000#download It says “Current Versions Firmware upgrades are pushed down by your ISP. For more information, please see our Knowledge Base .” He just told me to talk to Netgear :| Has anyone had any success getting advertised speeds with Comcast Gigabit Internet? I just tried to activate my Orbi router and satellite using the phone app. I followed the instructions and everything seemed to go well. The phone app said it was successful! I had also previously put my xfinity dual band router wifi in Bridge mode. But the phone app said the Orbi unit was "off line". I researched a bit and tried rebooting both the Orbi and Xfinity devices. Still showing offline with no wifi available. I could connect to the Orbi wifi on my phone but there did not seem to be any service. Any ideas on what the problem was? I noticed as I researched the issue that a generic Xfinity wifi was still on via my router ( I think the one available to the public). I did not turn this off but I think I can. Is the Orbi compatible with an Xfinity router in bridge mode?Nighthawk R6700v2 losing connection to CM700 Modem
Hi there, We are relatively new Comcast Xfinity custmers and decided to buy our own Modem (CM700) and Router (Nighthawk R6700v2). Every morning we find that our computers are disconnected from the internet (DNS Server error), although the Comcast Home Security system is connected through our Modem... and I can access the Internet on my phone when the computers show they are disconnected, however. Each morning, I have manually reset the modem. Today, however, I reset the router instead and the system came back up... which suggests the problem is with the router. I have been told Comcast send updates around midnight every day... and thought this might be causing the modem/routers issues... Can anyone advise on how I would investigate the issue with the router? Thanks in anticipation, AllanSolved9KViews0likes15CommentsC7000 Initial Channel Locking
I got a c7000 from someone that had upgraded to something newer, as far as I know it had been working. When trying to set it up with Comcast, they said they could see it, the self activate seems to work, when they sent reset codes to it, it lost downstream and upstream and attempted to re-aquire. However I never get an active connection, and they never see it as connected. When I go to the cable connection page, it says "Failure Your modem is offline. Please check the RF connection." Then, "Click Here to go to setting...". That link takes me to a very interesting page, showing 24 downstream and eight upstream channels, with only the first of each locked in. Even more interestingly, when the device is restarted it always starts at channel ID 31 at 687000000 Hz, power - 2.1 dBmV, SNR 40.9, which are all good values, but if I refresh the page every few minutes, the downstream channel that is locked in moves down one channel and by 6000000 Hz. Upstream does not appear to change, although I believe it has been different between different restarts. Also near the top of the page there is a startup procedure list: Aquire downstream channel, it reflects the current one locked in as described above; connectivity state, in progress params transfer complete; boot state, in progress unknown; security, disabled; ip provisioning mode, in progress unknown. I will try to post a pic, but I'm working off of my phone currently and the mobile interface is lacking attachments4.7KViews0likes2CommentsComcast pops up when I don't have comcast internet
I recently moved to a new area. I tried to hook up my N450 to the internet, and when I do, a prompt to sign in to comcast shows up. I do not have comcast internet currently, but did in the past. I have done three full factory resets and the same box keeps popping up to sign into comcast. Is this an issue where I need to contact comcast and have them fix it? Or is there a way I can fix this without spend 7 hours on the phone?2.8KViews0likes1CommentProblem using Orbi (RBK50) with Xfinity (Comcast) modem/router
Orbi was working fine with my comcast/xfinity service until this weekend. (Comcast modem/router was in bridge mode per instructions.) This weekend my internet service started acting up intermittently and yesterday it wasn't working at all. Tried power recycle several times, confirmed Xfinity modem was in bridge mode, had comcast cust service send modem reset, all to no avail. The Orbi was connecting to satellite and creating local network, but the web control panel (orbilogin.com) said no internet connection. Tried the troubleshooting through the web control panel but never succeeded. Spent over an hour working the issue with Comcast customer service and nothing was working - finally had them reset the cable modem/router to normal mode (not bridge mode) and gave up on the Orbi (powered them down). (In normal mode, the internet service is working and the WiFi coverage works in my house, but it is back to the pre-Orbi coverage and speed, so not as good.) Can anybody help??? Does this sound like a hardware problem with the Orbi? Other ideas/troubleshooting? I've exhausted my ideas as well as anything Comcast could do to help...
