WAC730, standalone, v3.8.3.0, two SSID in service, FB Login proof of concept for customer demonstration Created a new SSID, assigned the second captive portal NETGEAR-1 Configured the second captive portal NETGEAR-1 (why ever this profile name can't be renamed - Netgear does still not understand [my!] profile design concept you have stolen from another vendor), Captive Portal Mode (x) Enabled, Register with Facebook WiFi (x) Yes, Profile Name NETGEAR-1 [x] Admin enabled, Authentication mode: Facebook Wi-Fi, Facebook page: [set]. When accessing the SSID, the captive portal page does show up very unreliable - all current Windows 10/Android/iOS/macOS. When it does show up, we can check in to the Facebook site. And the access works kind of as expected. IF you have ever the chance to check-in on the FB site. [ISSUE!] When now attempting to manage the WAC730 over the LAN, the Captive Portal does jump in - why ever, always. Regardless if calling https://wac730-1.[whatever.dom.ain]/ or https://[WAC730-LAN-ADMIN-IP]/ (same with http), the FB WiFi Captiv Portal does jump in: ...now we're nice, and [Check in] at the site... ...we can click on [Continue browsing] as many times as we want, the browser does call the LAN IP (as originally requested), and the [Continue Browsing] page does come up again. The WAC730 Web UI is not accessible over the LAN at this state. Even if trying a new session, a different browser - we're really captured. But not by accessing the SSID ... by attempting to manage the WAC730 over the LAN! Obvious [BUG]. Firmware is current as of Support / WAC730- ProSAFE Business 3 x 3 Dual Band Wireless-AC Access Point v3.8.3.0. Proof of concept failed, looks like we won't get an order Netgear WLAN equipment for this customer RaghuHR. Bugware. Untested. Back to the skunkworks. Now I don't wonder why the Nighthawk router model(s) supporting FB WiFi are suffering from basic functionality issues as well.Solved5KViews0likes6Commentsreadycloud uploading failures
I started uploading files on readycloud early this morning and was sucessful. about 2 hours later I tried again and got failures It is stating in the failure that their was a connection error. Is the system down? Are their problems on the netgear cloud? I have tried different browsers Silverlight and reloaded Chrome with no success. This seemed to have started around 9:30am EST and am still not able to upload at 1:00pm EST Today is 11/12/17Solved2.9KViews0likes2CommentsFailed HGST Nextar on RN214
I've been running a 214 with dual 4TB HGST Nextar NAS drives for a couple of months now. We just had a power outage and when the system came back up it was showing a degraded data status and only seeing Disk 1 in the RAID config (yes I know I should have a UPS on the system). I rebooted the system and when it first came back up it saw Drive 2 and said it was re-sycning. Then it lost Drive 2 again and said re-sync failed and is still in a degraded state. I can still access all files on disk 1. I removed Disk 2 and put it in a USB external enclosure and connected it to my MAC. Disk Utility recognizes the drive but not the format type. It shows as a GUID Partition, and when I run First Aid on the disk all it says is "Problems were found with the partition map which might prevent booting." Is this disk history or is there a chance of saving it? If I can save it, how should I format it? I assume I use the GUID Partition setting, but what about format? MsDOS (FAT)? ExFAT? If it's not possible to save it and get it back into the RAID config I will just erase the data with any type of partition and take it back and exchange it.Ready NAS NV+ (RND4425) keeps restarting
Hi All, I need help with my Ready NAS NV+, it's an old a very reliable unit that is serving me well. Though since yesterday, it keeps restarting and it finally was off when I decided to pull the wall plug to prevent endless restart until receiving advices on what to do. I checked the logs on the unit before it's last shutdown (on its own) and apart for seeing that it restarted multiple time, checking disks, found and corrected errors, and resyncing, nothing really explains why it was behaving like this (System status was reporting no fault : Disks / Temp / Fan / UPS) Of course I would prefer not to lose the data on the disks. I already purchased a large USB drive to hopefully backup the data if I can get it back online again. So I was wondering : * Is there an upgrade path to simply take the disks of my current NV+ and move them to a new unit ? * Is there an obvious failure of the PSU or anything like this (I saw a recall for the PSU, though my serial number is not included in the range given here) ? * Any other advice tips that I can follow to make sure this unit can still work or if it is doomed to die quickly ? Also what are the support options : does Netgear offer some services to make or help making the upgrade ? Best Regards, Stéphane.Solved4.3KViews0likes8CommentsDisk Test Failure
I got a Disk Test Failure mail from my NAS (RN104, firmware 6.4.2): Disk test failed on disk in channel 2, model WDC_WD20EARX-00PASB0, serial WD-WMAZAYYYYXXX I'd like to know how severe my problem is and if I'll need to replace my HD (I just bought a new HDD and that is not the faulty one...) Hello Netgear Community!!! First, I apologize for my english (I'm french). I've got a problem on my ReadyNAS Ultra 2 (2 * 2 terabyte) sync on X-RAID to mirroring my datas between my 2 HDD. A few days ago, one HDD has failed. Later, unable to connect to nas shares. I immediatly look at the logs and I see : "The paths for the shares listed below could not be found. Typically, this occurs when the readyNAS is unable to access the data volume. .....<list of the shares>....". I then go in the volume management menu and I see an other pop-up error who accurate no volume is mounted. I decide to connect through SSH. When I list disk partitions (fdisk -l), I note that the partition that contains the datas is not present. I've tried to mount many partitions that I see into /dev without success. My questions are : - Is there someone who has had this problem or almost the same ? - How to solve it ? - Is it possible to read X-RAID disk on ubuntu system, GParted or other linux distribution ? I think it's a firmware problem when the nas mounting volumes, or a security of its system (X-RAID) that stop the mounting of volumes as the failed HDD has not be changed. My readynas contains 12 years of family pics, personal documents and working files, so I will be disappointed to have lost everything. Thank's a lot If you have the solution !!! I have an RN202 with two (2) Seagate 1TB NAS drives installed. The unit has been running with out issue for several months. A few minutes ago, it started to send out warning emails that said: "Detected increasing reallocated sector count: [3728] on disk 2 (Internal) [ST31000528AS 9VP4319G] 47 times in the past 30 days. This condition often indicates an impending failure. Be prepared to replace this disk to maintain data redundancy." Over the course of 22 minutes I received 29 emails and then they suddenly stopped. I am remote from the unit right now so I can't check the Admin panel but I did log in to ReadyCloud and the Status is green and says Healthy. Is this really an indication that the drive is failing and if so, why would it suddently stop sending warning messages? Currently, none of the data on the drives are critical and it is all duplicated on another platform so I'm not really concerned with data loss but if a drive is failing I would want to replace it sooner rather than later. Any guidance would be appreciated. regards, DavidSolved2.6KViews0likes3CommentsNighthawk X6 R8000 dead? Please help
Everything was fine until this morning. Opened Genie to check network map and the Internet went down (don't know if it was coincidental). The Internet LED stays orange indicating no Internet. However, when I connect the Ethernet cable from my cable modem to my laptop I can browse without a problem, so this isn't an ISP issue. I'm on the newest firmware and I've tried everything possible. - Simple power boot - Hard reset to factory settings - Changed ethernet cable - Even tried the Kong dd-wrt opensource firmware - Then flashed the normal one again No matter what I try, the Internet LED stays orange. I'm at a loss. This is really frustrating - I purchased this on Oct 1st, and barely 6 months later the $300 router seems to be bricked. What is my recourse? Thank you,Solved4.1KViews0likes2Commentslifesupp! message
Hi, I got this message, "lifesupp! message", while doing a resync (complete history follows) and I think I need some help from experts due the previous messages in this forum about this error. - My nas is a ReadyNas Pro with 6 bays, all equipped and disks were synced. - After a failure in disk 2 I procced to replace it but, during the resync, the disk 6 started to report failures. - At some point I got the following mail from the NAS: > Complete RAID volume synchronization in C. However, the array is still degraded mode. This may be due to failure of disk synchronization damaged or the presence of a disk array in multiple parity disks. - Looking at /proc/mdstat gives me this information: > Personalities : [raid0] [raid1] [raid10] [raid6] [raid5] [raid4] > md2 : active raid5 sdf5[8](S) sda5[0] sde5[7](F) sdd5[4] sdc5[6] sdb5[2] > 9743966480 blocks super 1.2 level 5, 16k chunk, algorithm 2 [6/4] [U_UUU_] > md1 : active raid6 sdf2[8] sda2[0] sde2[6] sdd2[4] sdc2[7] sdb2[2] > 2096896 blocks super 1.2 level 6, 64k chunk, algorithm 2 [6/6] [UUUUUU] > md0 : active raid1 sdf1[8] sda1[0] sde1[7] sdd1[4] sdc1[6] sdb1[2] > 4194292 blocks super 1.2 [6/6] [UUUUUU] > unused devices: <none> - Status in control panel So, the question now is: what are the following steps? I have ssh access and a good technical background. Thanks.Solved2.8KViews0likes2CommentsWireless devices connected to WN3000RPv3 but no data (after FW upgrade)
I have just recently upgraded my N300 extender to the latest firmware package available (1.0.2.24). This was because I was having difficulty connecting several devices (iOS) to the WiFi. After the firmware upgrade all my devices are connecting, but they are not getting beyond the repeater to the router and all network access is refused. I can see that the extender has been assigned 192.168.1.250 and that is what my devices are using as Gateway/DNS. I have a wired device connected to the extender (via a switch) and that is getting a Gateway/DNS of 192.168.1.254 and is functioning just fine. So why are devices going through WiFi not getting through. Any steps I can take to remedy this issue?3.4KViews0likes3Comments
