7 TopicsDynamic DNS updating IP address that doesn't match router's IP
This may have been answered elsewhere but I couldn't find a similar question. I'm not talking about NAT here. I understand my devices have different IP addresses that are issued out by the router (ie 192.168.1.n) but my confusion isn't there. The problem seems to be that my "public" IP address doesn't match the routers actual IP. On the admin page, the advanced tab shows the IP address of my router (100.65.140.24). This seems to be my REAL ip address, as i can connect to my home server via port forwarding outside my home network when using that IP address. However, if i use services like http://www.whatsmyip.org then it shows my IP address differently (199.87.86.198). WHen i've set up the dynamic DNS with No-Ip, this is the same address it pushes... so it doesn't work. I don't understand why I seem to have a router IP and an "incorrect" public IP. What's going on there? Does it have something to do with my ISP - and if so, how does my router admin screen know the correct address? Could this be related to IPv6 or some other setting on my router? Is there anything I can do to fix this? Thank all!Solved41KViews0likes4CommentsNighthawk R7000 Geust Network IP Addressing
We are using this router with static addressing. We are considering using the guest network, but the guest side would need to use dynamic addressing while maintaining static addressing on the other side. Also, we would like to limit the number of users logged in to the guest network. I am not really clear on how to accomplish this and am asking for advice.Solved3.2KViews0likes1CommentChanging IP settings
Hey everyone, I tried to enter my router's settings to change the ip address, trying to make it work as an access point to extend another router's signal in my house. I guess i did something in the DHCP -if i'm not mistaken- and now i'm not able to access settings anymore. There is no internet connection on this router which is not necessary to access seetings, but since then, it's always giving me an error that there is no internet connection when i type the ip in the browser to access settings. Pleas advise. Thank you allSolvedNetgear C3000 IPV4 address issue
Hi, I noticed that I have a IPV6 address with netgear C3000. However IPV6 could sometimes blocked by other website because of potential DDOS attack source. So I want to get IPV4 only, how can I do that, please provide me the steps, thanks! Alex2.4KViews0likes1CommentORBI Satellites
I have ORBI Router and 2 Satellites. (6,000 square for home). I am noticing that certain things disconnect. My nest cams for one are going offline a lot. I have just recently disabled beaming after researching this. I hope that fixes it. I also have a WNCE2001 that hooks to my DirecTV box. It works in the day, but when the kids go to bed, it doesn't connect. I changed that today to a static IP. I am hoping that helps (blind luck). During this troubleshooting I noticed the satellites appear to be getting new IP addresses assigned to them a lot. I have noticed at least 4-5 IP changes. 2 Questions... Why are they changing so often? If I make them static, will that cause any issues?Advanced Static IP Address Options
The D6400 has the concept of a Guest network where you can set whether wireless devices on the Guest network can talk to each other and access the LAN with the setting "Allow guests to see each other and access my local network", but there is nothing (that i have found so far) to enable this same feature for wired devices. I have a few devices that are wired that i would like to provide internet access only and not be able to talk to each other or any other device on the LAN, so effectively adding them to the Guest network. Please could you implement some advanced / extra options in the LAN Setup IP Address Reservation of static IP addresses? Maybe something like some tick boxes to enable : - Allow access to the internet - Allow access to other devices on the LAN This way it would be flexible enough to have devices on the router which can have only internet access, only LAN access or both internet and LAN. Maybe for those that need extra flexibility add the option to enable / disable internet / LAN access on a schedule. Thank you. Model : D6400 Firmware : V1.0.0.44_1.0.449.9KViews0likes0Comments
