monitoring
7 Topicsrealtime bandwidth monitoring by device
It would be great if you could see realtime bandwidth per device for the netgear r7000, similar to Google Wifi and Eero. It would be a really useful info and diagnostic tool to see what devices are currently taking up bandwidth. It would be great if this was added to the router web administration page as well theNetgear Genie and/or Netgear Up apps. I've attached a screenshot of how this feature looks on Google Wifi.26KViews93likes15CommentsNighthawk R7000 Traffic Meter Monthly Limit Increase
Please update the Traffic Meter feature for the Nighthawk R7000 to have an increased Monthly Limit that can account into the Tbytes. Comcast as an ISP has began to implement data caps at 1024Mb which equates to 1048576Mbytes but the Monthly Limit field only allows me to enter 104857Mbytes, missing the last digit which is significantly less than the data cap. Given that Comcast is monitoring the traffic it should be available to impose limits and monitor traffic independent of Comcast. It is very important this feature be added. Currently running V1.0.7.10_1.2.3 firmware. This was mentioned in the forums and it was suggested that this be submitted at this location in that post. See below; https://community.netgear.com/t5/VPN-Firewalls/Bugfix-Request-Increase-maximum-monthly-limit-for-Traffic/m-p/1185320#M6496 Original Post "This in regards to the Traffic Meter monitoring function of the SRX5308 VPN Firewall. However this would apply to any device in Netgear's product lineup that monitors the amount of IP traffic per month. Currently the traffic meter can set a monthly traffic limit of up to a maximum of 256000 MB (~250 GB). However, this is insufficient for those who are using Comcast as an ISP where the limit is set to 1 Terabyte (1024 Gb). Request that the montly traffic limit setting be adjustable in the Terabyte range." Reply "I advise you to post your concern as feature request in the Idea Exchange Board for Business here. Be reminded that the community members who will give kudos to your idea will help as the development team will be reviewing the post that has the most kudos and it might be considered to be added on the future functionality of the product."60KViews8likes20CommentsSuper disappointed. Am I expecting too much?
I got an orbi system to deal with dead spots in our 2 BR/1200 sf condo. I did not skimp! Got a base station and a sattelite. About $400. When Orbi works - which is about 75% of the time - its a good system. 25% of the time, however, Orbi is infuriating. Sometimes there's no connectivity and rebooting is the only remedy. Sometimes one of the satellites will go offline (magenta light) for no apparent reason. Usually it reconnects by itself, but sometimes I have do a manual reset. But here's the worst part: I have to discover and troubleshoot these problems on my own. I expected this to be more of a self-healing sysetem. If it can't be self healing, the app should at least monitor my network and tell me when there are problems. We are going on a 3 week vacation and I'm terrified leaving my network to Orbi. We have numerous home automation and security devices connected to Orbi. I'm predicting disaster when the network goes down again. Any suggestions are much appreciated.
