4 TopicsMultiple Extender(E8000/E7000) config issue & DHCP table not showing all devices on r7000
I am using an R7000 Router with an E8000 Mesh plus two additional E7000 Extenders. Using latest firmware on all devices. a) The R7000 list of DCHP clients is missing several devices. Refereshing keeps updating but not consistant each time. Editting device types and names on R7000 gets ignored by R7000 in the attached device list. b) With "One-SSID on" on the E8000,the E7000s ignore the E8000 and try to go back to the R7000 (weaker signal). Switching off one-SSID and configuring the E8000 to a different SSID appears to get better results with the two E7000s when i point them to the E8000 SSID. c) The admin ports on the E8000 and 2 x E7000 devices keep being unavailable (net timeout). Also lost in DCHP list of R7000. 1. Am I asking too much of the R7000? 2. Why does R7000 not maintain a true list of DHCP devices. There are 30-60 devices at anytime on my net. 3. Putting two E7000's off the E8000 should work right? Thanks Nev1.5KViews0likes5CommentsIssues with IP cameras and Ranger Extender
I have been going back and forth with my IP camera manufacturer regarding signal problems, off line issues etc. For the point of clarification, my network name is Daniel, and the Extender is Daniel_EXT The latest recommendation from their support people is this: The issue may be with your WiFi extender. When you use a WiFi extender to improve signal strength for your cameras, please make sure it has the same exact name as the original router network. This way, the camera will choose to connect to the strongest network of the same name. Otherwise, the camera will get confused and connect to the original network that has the weaker signal strength. I can see from your dashboard that your extender’s SSID is “Daniel_EXT”. I suggest you change the extender’s SSID to match your main network’s SSID. This can be done through your router settings. My question is, does this make sense? Can you even name the Exteder the same as the main network?Wifi extension to metal building
I have a WGR614G54 router. What's best way to get wifi inside building? It's around 50 ft from house, and I get wifi just outside the building. Electric panel in building is powered from a branch circuit in house main electric panel. So if it helps, they're on the same electric circuit.3.9KViews0likes2CommentsDevices plugged into ports of my WN2500RP extender loose connection to internet
So I am setting up our new satellite office for the law firm I work for. Our new landlord graciousely provides free wi-fi to his tenants. His netgear router is on the second floor while our office is on the first floor. I can pick up the signal ok but I have ran into a dilema. We are using two voip net phones which both need a physical ethernet port on a gateway or access point to function. So we are extending the wi-fi signal with the extender so as to plug in the voip phones into its provided ethernet ports. Everything works just fine untill thr PC we are using for the office shuts down or restarts. At that point the phones both loose connection even though they are not physically plugged into the PC and only plugged into the ports of the extender and a power outlet. Rhis is problamatic because I have specifically set up the pc to allow the SSHD to easily be connected or disconnected. As we do not staff the satellite office full time we are reluctant to leave the office unattended with sensitive client data stored on the pc. So we need to be able to bring the drive to the office and take it with us when we leave. Unfortunately it appears that the extender cannot keep the network signal routed through the ports without relying on the computers wireless connection to the extended ssid. That means without leaving the pc on we cant receive calls or faxes to the office. Does anyone know of a viable solution to this problem?4.5KViews0likes4Comments
