14 TopicsNew RN316 - Network Access is SLOW
Hi! I've been doing a lot of reading on the community forums about slow network performance when accessing shares via Windows Explorer and I'm experiencing the same thing. I've checked most of the solutions I found on the forums, and nothing has helped, but I thought I would throw my question out there to see if you have a solution before I call support for further assistance. Here are the details of my network setup and additional information needed to help diagnose my issue: NAS: RN316 Diskless - Firmware Version 6.9.2 - One 4 TB WD Red drive / Four 2 TB WD Black drives (they were moved over from a WD4000X that had NICs die) - 5.69 TB free of 7.26 TB total - X-RAID running on RAID 5 - Bond between both en0 & en1 enabled with Active Backup enabled - Anti-Virus is disabled, File Search is disabled, SMB only protocol on all folders, DLNA also on respective media folders - Permissions wide open, everyone has access to Network Access, File Access is set Owner and Group to admin - ReadyCloud access turned on - Plex Server running. Main Issue: Accessing and opening network documents such as Word, PDF, etc take anywhere from 15 - 30 seconds before they open. Saving Word documents makes the documents appear to lock up and go to "not responding", then they come back after the 15 - 30 seconds. File transfer speeds are decent, running on average at 10 Mbps both ways. My old Windows Storage Server WD4000X NAS never had this issue, only since I installed this new NAS on the network have I had this issue Main Wireless Router: Netgear R7000 Secondary Router: Netgear R6300v2 - Being used only to create physical NIC ports, not used as a wireless network extender PC's: All Windows 10, either Pro or Home edition - All Windows Updates installed - All using Wireless AC protocol with good signal Here are the things that I've tried to fix the issue: 1. Enable/Disable Bond between en0 & en1, tried several protocols, no difference 2. Permissions - Network Access is open to everyone, File Access set to guest/guest, changed to admin/admin, no difference 3. Plex Server - Enabled/Disabled, no change 4. Verified SnapShot management set to Smart 5. No backups running 6. Logged out of ReadyCloud app on desktop So, anything I'm missing, or do I need to call support at this point? Your help and time reviewing my issue are appreciated. I look forward to seeing what your suggestions are. Thank you!PLEASE HELP Mapping error the network name is no longer available ReadyNas 2100
Please help me determine what could cause a mapping issue I am seeing with my readynas 2100. Info: I have an active directory system I am putting the Readynas on for a data backup to a recorder. This system is a communicaiton system for a county I am working. The system is an active directory GPO based system. I have join the Readynas 2100 to the domain and synced it with my NTP. All is good there. The NAS has even pulled all the accounts from AD as you would expect. I then created a fileshare on this NAS. I can access the file share via I.E. (Internet Explorer.) I plan to use the file share I created as a location for backup of one of the machines on the domain. I have tried to map the network drive from a machine on the domain and encounter an error stating that this network drive name is no longer available. I cannot get past this point on any of the machines on the domain. Strange enough if I remote into the system with my personaly machine I can map the drive with no issue on my local PC. What would cause the Machines on the domain to not be allowed or get the name no longer exsist error when trying to map the fileshare? I have tried it on many different windows platforms on the domain with no luck. I have also disable microsoft client signed messages, local security policy via AD gpo and this didnt help. I cannot for the life of me find anything that could help. I cant use netgear support as the contract has been long expired. Netgear refuses to assist any furthure without buying a support contract. This isnt my equipment or my companys equipment. So the county would have to foot the bill and I would like to explorer the knowledge base on the community as was recomended to me.561Views0likes1CommentLACP no longer working on RN516 running 6.7.5
LACP bonding no longer seems to work with my RN516 on 6.7.5, the switch shows only one interface up, as if the teaming is Active Backup, not LACP. The MTU keeps resetting to 1500 from 9000, as if that is the only thing it can get to work and all the uplink gear supports jumbo frame so that shouldn't be an issue. Have tried dissolving the bond, resetting all the MTUs and re-bonding, but it still doesn't work. Works just fine on my RN626X, so possibly a model specific issue. Hash setting is L2 on both models, switch is a XS728T on firmware 6.5.1.30. Advice?6.9KViews0likes26CommentsNetwork configuration and Computer name change
Hi guys! I'm brand new to this forum and was directed here by customer support. I was helped two weeks back to get my NAS back online but when I have tried to log in since it just says it's offline (attached is a screenshot of the message). I have recently changed the computers name and can't help but think that may have thrown off the configuration but the technical wizardry the customer support provided was amazing to re-configure everything - but there's no way I couldn't follow what he was doing or understand it. Could anybody lend me a helping hand to try and do this myself? TomSolved5.5KViews0likes10CommentsRN214 - No IP address after 6.6.1 Update
Hi Guys, I'm in need of some assistance. I've just updated the rn214 to 6.6.1 and the nas now states no ip address on the front panel. A shutdown has not made any difference. It's directly connected to the router and was working fine before the update. Any suggestions?Solved5.6KViews0likes11CommentsMapping readynas to readynas
Is there a way to link/map/share a drive on one ReadyNAS unit directly to another ReadyNAS unit without having a computer between the two? I run SABNZBD on one of my units and I want it to put the downloaded file in a different location depending on what the file is. In SAB, you can filter the files by user defined category. How can I map a drive from one unit to the other to make moving files easier?Solved4.2KViews0likes13CommentsReadyNas NV+v2 no network connection
I've got an issue with a NV+ V2. All was working fine until yesterday, when I lost all network connectivity in the room with this in - After some diagnostics, I swapped out the switch that fed everything, and everything else in the room (Laptop, PC, and a media player on the TV) is fine, again. But the ReadyNAS that was also connected to the switch remains inaccessible. I have power cycled it (power off with the button, wait, press again to come back on) and done same with a removal of mains while off, just in case, to no avail. The system *looks* like it is working; it boots up and shows me the IP address that it has (Static assigned) and correctly notices if I disconnect the LAN cable. However nothing else in the house can access it - it's not even replying to Pings, and RAIDar doesn't spot it. Both ReadyNAS and switch show link lights, and I've tried a different cable. And whilst obviously this is a new switch, I've tried different ports just to make sure! Is there anything else I can try? Is this likely to be a dead ethernet port? (So, did the switch fail and take out the ReadyNAs, or the otehr way around?) Or does it support a usb ethernet adapter so I can still access it? Thanks....3.1KViews0likes3CommentsCannot access the ReadyNAS through network after update to 6.5.1
My ReadyNAS has been running without any problems for months, and after upgrading to the latest firmware (6.5.1), suddenly my mapped network drives are not accessible. I tried mapping a new drive, it says "element not found". The other devices on my network (phone, media player) can access the files from the NAS just fine, and the same goes if I login in my readynas admin page. But for some reason, it's not allowing me to access the network at all. I tried putting \\defnas\disk1 on my file explorer (defnas is the name of my nas), it says windows cannot access that. I tried the ip, I get the same message. HOWEVER, when i tried this command: net use t: \\192.168.1.15\disk1 /user:admin password it DOES map the drive and I can access it using file explorer, but when I try the exact same command (with a different drive letter obviously) but using my other disks, so for example /disk2 , it says "System error 5 has occured, access is denied". I'm driving myself nuts!Solved4.6KViews0likes13CommentsUnable to change MTU, Readynas 104 OS6.4.1
I was attempting to adjust my MTU down from 1500 to 1472 or 1483 in order to troubleshoot network performance issues, and the UI rejected the changes with Error 4004019998. Does anyone know what this error means and how I can resolve it to change my MTU?4.6KViews0likes16Comments
