110 Topics6 G to Satellite is slow
I ran a speedtest of my Orbi97 in the interface and it is showing 66mbps download speed. My laptop has a 6G connection to a satellite with a strong signal, and while it normally gets pretty good speed, it will often drop to like 5mpbs download (upload is about 10 which is what my provider gives me). There aren't that many devices demanding the bandwidth. Other devices are using 2.4g and 5 g., but mostly 2.4 Any ideas on why this might happen and what settings I might use to prevent this slowdown?53Views0likes7CommentsRBE971 Router and 6 RBE970 satellites
I have the same issue with my RBE971 Router and 6 RBE970 satellites. After first time set up all 6 satellites and 35 connected devices were all nicely connected. Then in the middle of the night I lost internet. Comcast 1GB modem is online, but I have no internet. Unplugged modem and router to reboot. After rebooting all satellites show disconnected, but all are online and transmitting Wi-Fi signal to all my devices. Majority of the 35 devices are wireless (Ring Cameras, TV's, iPhone, Roku Sticks, Laptops etc.), all show WIRED connected. (never seen an iPhone wired to internet). Rebooted and reset to factory defaults several times and sometimes all satellites show up, sometimes one or two and only some of my devices show up, but all are connected. Spent three days with Netgear support. Updated the Firmware several times, still same results. Last firmware update result showed all satellites connected, but only 11 devices showed connected (this time all connected via Wi-Fi). Waited overnight to see if system would recognize rest of my devices, but then early in the morning all satellites and router went offline with no internet again. Comcast modem is online. About 15 minutes later they all came back online, still showing all satellites connected and 11 wired devices. This time some of my Ring devices could not reconnect to my network. I waited couple of hours and unplugged the modem and router several times and all satellites were showing disconnected, and 25 devices were showing all WIRED. My home is 4000sq ft, but my network covers 3 buildings and front gate. I have several wired and wireless cameras on my property. The map of my setup is as follows: Orbi Router connected via WAN port to Comcast modem (5' CAT 6 cable). Only three of the 2.5G ports at the back of Orbi Router are being used. First 2.5G Port - 95' CAT 6 cable to First Netgear GS308 switch. From this First switch - 5' CAT 6 cable to Orbi 1 Satellite. From this same First switch 75' CAT 6 to Orbi 2 Satellite. From this First same switch 105' CAT 6 to Orbi 4 Satellite. Now, from Orbi 2 Satellite - 65' CAT 6 to Second GS308 switch. From this Second switch - 80' CAT 6 cable to Orbi 3 Satellite. Then from second 2.5G port on the Orbi Router 70' CAT 6 to Third Netgear GS308 switch, from this Third switch - 20' CAT 6 connecting to Orbi 5 Satellite. From the third 2.5G port on the Orbi Router 90' CAT 6 to Orbi 6 Satellite. All Satellites are approximately 65’ to 75’ apart from each other and the router.Router Recommendations
I am hopeful that a knowledgeable someone can save me some research time in selecting a new router. I have a few must haves and a few nice to haves: Must Haves: VLAN support with wireless for each VLAN Port level VLAN with at least 3 ports Mesh capabilities that support both wired and wireless back-haul Gigabit or faster Ethernet ports (preferably 5+) Nice Must Haves: Load balancing for multiple WANs Automatic switching to backup WAN if primary fails Port isolation configurable for each VLAN I am using a much older, non-mesh router now, but it does have Fresh Tomato firmware on it that supports port-level VLANs with ability for each VLAN to have its own wireless. This allow me to keep my IoT devices separated from my primary VLAN. It also allows me to keep my guest network separate from both my primary and IoT VLANs. I am hopeful to upgrade to a new mesh router while keeping these abilities. I currently have a primary and backup Internet provider and use a physical switch to toggle when needed. If possible, I would like to have the router either switch automatically for me or load balance.89Views0likes9CommentsI move around between the three (1 Router) and (2 satellites)
NO, it does not. Now when I move around between the three (1 Router) and (2 satellites) I have IOS devices that I literally have to turn OFF the wifi for 15 seconds and turn it back on to get it to work. I NEVER had this issue before this upgrade. Also, now I cannot get over 12 hours out of it and the whole system reboots and that was NEVER an issue either. The third issue is I will have a wireless device 7 ft. from a satellite but yet it will go thru 3 walls and 80 ft. to connect to the router instead! Not the one it can see in front of it! 4th the IOS app on the phone and the app on the computer do NOT match. One will tell me I have 52 devices connected, the other tells me 40. Then some wireless it says are wired?? The system was up 32 days before this upgrade the router wired to the first satellite and then the second satellite 5/6 Ghz. Not I cannot get the wireless satellite over 2.4Ghz period. Its like they turned down the power on them. BUYER BEWARE. I'm moving on I think to something more stable.435Views0likes26CommentsRBE971 AP: Wi-Fi drops, wired stable, QCN9224 SSR & 6GHz fatal errors
Hi all, I am looking for help/visibility from Netgear staff/engineering. I have been having this issue since around the time of the Hardware / Firmware Model: Orbi RBE971 (single unit used as Access Point) Firmware: V9.13.2.1_1.3.35 Network Topology RBE971 is in AP mode behind OPNsense OPNsense provides routing, DHCP, DNS Symptom is Wi‑Fi only; Ethernet continues working and the AP remains reachable via wired management during events Symptoms Randomly, all wireless bands/SSIDs drop simultaneously (2.4/5/6 GHz) All Wi‑Fi clients disconnect at the same time Wired clients remain stable; no full device reboot observed After some time, Wi‑Fi comes back What I have gathered Two debug bundles taken around Dec 24, 2025 (to compare behavior across captures) What the logs show (high level) The kernel/driver logs strongly suggest the AP is not rebooting; instead the Qualcomm Wi‑Fi subsystem/radios are resetting: Repeated “SSR” (subsystem restart) events from the Wi‑Fi driver (e.g., ol_ath_wifi_ssr) CNSS transitioning radios to OFF / shutdown “QMI WLFW service disconnected” (Wi‑Fi firmware service disconnect) Remote processor stops for the Wi‑Fi radios (e.g., “stopped remote processor QCN9224_PCI0/1/2”) 6 GHz-related fatal teardown errors during/around the SSR sequence (e.g., “6ghz … Fatal error: Invalid l_soc_id …”) After this, there are repeated recovery-loop messages indicating Wi‑Fi interfaces/SSIDs are “not ready / not found/up” and it keeps looping until they return (this aligns with the “all SSIDs disappear” user experience) Why I think this is the root cause The events above are consistent with a radio/firmware crash → subsystem restart (SSR) → recovery scripts restart Wi‑Fi, which would drop all Wi‑Fi clients while Ethernet stays up. Questions for Netgear / community Is this a known issue on V9.13.2.1_1.3.35 (especially involving 6 GHz / Wi‑Fi 7 / MLO paths)? Are there recommended mitigations while waiting for a fix (disable 6 GHz, disable MLO/Wi‑Fi 7 features, reduce channel width, etc.)? Is there a newer firmware (or a known-stable prior version) that addresses QCN9224 SSR / WLFW disconnect issues? I can provide the debug bundles to Netgear support/engineering if needed; please advise what additional logging would be most helpful.UPnP Issues after Upgrade
Just upgraded from an Orbi RBR850 to the 970 and everything is going fine except for UPnP. Prior everything just worked. When I started a server the control points could see it and there were no issues. Now when starting a server (I've tried on my Mac and on my Synology NAS) the control points can't see anything. Topology is the same, Base and 2 satellites in the same locations. Wiring and switches haven't changed. Just the router. I've tried Minimserver and Asset UPnP. No luck. Tried various control point apps all report no server on the network. How do I get this working again? Thanks98Views0likes6CommentsOrbi 970 startup issues with 4 or 5 satellites
We purchased an Orbi 970 with 3 satellite and added 4 all connected through a netgear 10g ethernet switch. We noticed some issues on boot up where they may boot up as wireless, or stuck in config sync or not found, and every once in awhile out of sync We added 5 as wireless and it got really bad where maybe only 1 out of 20 reboot would all come up as good. We have done the reset and resync etc etc. We have also notice the list of connected devices on the remote login or app is not accurate and question even if the boot up state information on the app is accurate or not because a satellite will be blue but it will say not found? Any ideas? Is there a setting or a why we need to change the balance between wired and wireless that would make this boot up every time? Any way to get accurate data in the app and remote login?844Views0likes87CommentsI now see the option to update to V9.13.2.1 in the web app
I now see the option to update to V9.13.2.1 in the web app. It has been out for a month now, but I have seen very little discussion about this version. Does this alleviate any of the disconnection issues with recent iOS devices?167Views0likes2CommentsHP Printer Won't Connect to Router
Good evening. I just upgraded from 850 to 970. All looks good, except my HP Printer won't connect. I have tried using the printer's menu and the HP Smart app. The printer detects the router and lets me enter the password. But it will not connect. Has anyone encountered this issue and won? Thanks in advance. Robert JonesSolved104Views0likes6CommentsMigration from RBR 850 to Orbi 970
Good morning. Looking for some insight. I am in the process of upgrading my orbi 850 to 970. I have a lot of cameras and IoT devices, and I have seen an increase in drops during streaming/Zoom calls over the past 5 months. I want to keep the same SSID name so my devices auto-connect when the new router comes online. Has anybody had any experience with this and could provide some easy steps? I would be so very grateful.
