I have my R9000 up and running. Powerful Router. Blasts the entire house ~2000sq 2flrs with fast AC. I was running Plex on a VM host in my basement. Plex in Router is great and very responsive, but horribly out of date. v1.1 i think and current is v1.3 Plex says Netgear is responsible for updates. Netgear support doesnt know. The option to manually update is removed. Plus the server kind of goes unresponsive every now and then and jsut doesnt show up. Maybe a version bug. In any event is anyone aware of a method to update the Plex version? Is anyone aware of a method by which the server can be reboot through CLI when otherwise unresponsive? I will probably return it if I cannot get these little things solved. At least in VM i had control of the Server. ThanksSolved9.7KViews0likes12CommentsBridge Nighthawk routers: x8 r8500 to x10 r9000
Hi all, I just bought an upgrade r9000 (x10) from my current r8500 (x8) router due to plex and 10gbe lan. The issue I'm having is that my router is at one end of the house, and prior I used eero routers in conjunction to reach all areas of my house, but the biggest problem here is that eero sucks at having simultaneous connections, especially playing video games on 3-4 pcs! So instead of getting rid of my r8500, I was hoping to get rid of my eero. I'm hoping to use my r8500 as a bridge in the middle of the house so it extends the reach to the end of the other side. I tried #1 rated av powerline 2000 and was getting extremely low speeds vs wifi, so that was returned since it didn't work. As a bridge, wouldn't this work since both are supposedly able to transfer fast speeds (especially within lan)? I tried looking at how to bridge these two together but couldn't find anything. Help and insight would be great! Thank you!Solved6.7KViews0likes2CommentsR9000, "Open Plex" is grayed out
I just booted up my new R9000. When I click "enable plex" it recognizes my external hard drive that is connected via USB, but the option to "open plex" remains grayed out. I have tried rebooting the router to no avail. I followed the steps below, but where it says: "Navigate to Hard Drive location and look for Library folder", I don't have this folder. Now I'm stuck... To resolve issue with “Open Plex” button being grayed out after PLEX Media Server is enabled: Unplug the Hard Drive plugged into the R9000 Plug the Hard Drive into your computer. Navigate to the Hard Drive location and look for Library folder. Note: Before deleting the Library folder please go into the folder and make sure that you do not have any media files stored in it as deleting media files will result in those files being lost. Delete the Library folder. Unplug the Hard Drive from your computer and plug it back into your R9000. Launch a web browser from a computer that is connected to the R9000 network. Enter http://www.routerlogin.net in the web browser’s address bar and enter the admin user name and password when prompted. Under the BASIC Tab select "PLEX Media Server" option Click the “Open Plex” and go through the setup process Once the PLEX media server setup is completed you will be able to access your media files from anywhere.Solved6.4KViews1like14CommentsNetGear Downloader: Add magnetic link and NAS support
As others have posted, please add support for magnetic links. Likewise, though the X10 (R9000) has support for reading from NAS's (Plex, and going so far as to support Port Aggregation and SFP+), it'd make sense to be able to download to a NAS... Thanks! ps: Another idea might be to support Transmition on the NIghthawks (you already support it on the ReadyNAS devices)6.4KViews2likes0CommentsAdd the Nighthawk X10 R9000 to the model list in the next field!
In the New Idea section NetGear asks for the "Model (Recommended - Helps the community give the best answers)", but it hasn't added this device which has been out for a year now. I can't find it if it's there when searching for "Nighthawk", "X10", or "R9000", though I can see the other models up until the R8500....5.6KViews0likes0CommentsDoes Plex only run off of USB on the R9000 or can it access a NAS?
I have a WD EX4 NAS which I currently use to house my Plex content currently running off of a PC. One of the attractions to picking up the R9000 was its ablity to run Plex, but it doesn't seem to want to work without a USB drive attached. Does Plex on the R9000 run exclusively off of a USB drive or can it run off a NAS like a regular Plex server?Solved5.5KViews0likes8CommentsNo more recessed USB ports
I've had two USB thumb drives overheat and crash (consistantly). Here are the model numbers: 1.) A super-mini thumb drive by Lexmark (32GB, USB3.0 JumpDrive S45 - LJDS45-32GABEU (I liked the low profile, but it clearly couldn't dissipate heat as the USB port on the R9000 is recessed... 2.) A longer thumb drive by Sandisk that has a metal housing (32GB USB3.0 Ultra Flair SDCZ73-032G) which I thought could dissipate heat, but it just can't... The only solution to this is a USB extension cable. NetGear's KnowledgeBase regarding "tested USB drives" is terribly short, and woefully incomplete: https://kb.netgear.com/18985/Will-my-USB-drive-work-with-ReadySHARE (it refers to the "SanDisk 64GB" as being compatible, but it DOES NOT give the model number like it does for every other device listed) The R9000's two USB3.0 ports are positioned under the router's overhanging plastic chasis. This does not allow for heat to disapate from the pen drives, which become too hot to touch. I recomend that future models have the USB ports flush with the router's outermost walls.5.4KViews1like0CommentsFan operation on Nighthawk (esp. R9000) units
Have never seen the R9000 fan(s?) cut on. But then, I've been monitoring the temperature on & off by hand, and it's never been particularly warm, so the fan wouldn't need to be on. Anyway I can know for sure if the fan works? Are there internal diagnostics for fan operation? (@ElaineM)Solved5.3KViews0likes1CommentRuoter wifi R9000 - collegamento scanner di rete.
Salve.
