I have a ReadyNAS 104. For years now, I have not been able to delete half of the littered Apple AFP folders and files that spread themselves across my shares from when I also had a MAC on my network accessing this device. I have managed to delete most but some still linger with the permission denied error. I have upgrades to the latest firmware v6.7.5 (which I didn't think would make any difference). I have tried to take ownership over FTP under admin but get the following error:- 550 CHMOD 666 cnid2.db: Operation not permitted When I try and delete the folder in Windows, I get permission denied error. Looking at the security tab, it looks like the owner of .AppleDB and its contained files could be root (Unix User\root) and/or root (Unix Group\root). These files are:- cnid2.db db_errlog lock log.0000000002 Can I log in to the unit, get to the share and delete these files and folders under some kind of super admin user? SSH, or something would be good? Please help! It has been driving me mad for over 4 years! Thanks, JohnSolved7.1KViews0likes4CommentsAll apps disppeared from the admin webpage
Hello, Since a while back I noticed that all the apps disappeared fromt he admin page of my ReadyNas104. I kind of hoped that they may come back after firmware upgrades. However, after a few ( three or four) firmware upgrades I still cannot see any apps. 1. is ther any way I could bring the apps back and show up? 2. in the worst scenario that I may have to do a factory reset - maybe the readynas OS is corrupted somehow. Will I be able to keep the data on the attached 4 HDDs? Thanks in advance.Solved6.7KViews0likes28CommentsConnection problems after update 6.6.0
After updating to version 6.6.0 adminiastratora page loads without problem and works even faster. I do not know whether an update is causing the problem. However, on a local network storage is no longer visible. It appears as a multimedia device, but the connection is not possible. The same effect on the PC with Windows 7 and Smart TV. I do not know if it's important: I did not change protocols for folders in the 'Shares'. They are set to SMB and DLNA. I checked the 'System> Settings> Services', there SMB indicator is inactive. I can not change its settings active. ReadyDLNA is active. Application SMB Plus is installed. What should I check in the settings ReadyNAS that was again available in the local network? I'm not an expert in computers and my English is not the best, I'm sorry for that.ReadyNAS 104 wont install any apps FW 6.5.2 (and also 6.6.0)
After some time (was many time that I don't check the apps versions) I have checked the installed applications (one is the Antivirus). I have seen that my version is old. For this reason I have tried to press the update button but I continue to receive error (impossible to install the app and the application list is older, but the system is not able to upgrade this list). I have tried also if there are updates in the firmware (I had the 6.5.2), but also in this case the ReadyNAS notify me that there isn't updates (but I have seen on the readynas forum the version 6.6.0). I have seen the solution related the firmware 6.5.0 (the source.zip to upload in the NAS) but also after this operation the system doesn't works. After these tests I have downloaded the new firmware (6.6.0) and installed manually. Wait the reboot and after retried the upgrade of the Antivirus but also in this case fails. I have checked also the DNS (currently set to the google dns 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) and seems that the internet connection is available. There are additional tests to do? Thanks for the support (and sorry for my English :manembarrassed: )Solved6.1KViews0likes9CommentsNo volumes exits, remove inactive volumes to use the disk. Disk #2,3,4.

Hi I just installed a ReadyNAS 104 and have upgraded to the latest firmware etc. I have set up 5 user accounts for different family members. Just now there are three computers on my home network (a) laptop running WIn 7. I type \\ReadyNAS in WIndows Explorer, Enter my user name and pword and everything is good to go (b) tablet running Win 10. I type \\ReadyNAS in Win Explorer (Files) and nothing happens - no log in screen, nada. The tablet can see the NAS on the network but I can only log in via a web browser as admin (c) desktop running Win 7. I type \\ReadyNAS in Win Explorer and the log-in screen comes up. However, Windoze adds DOMAIN\ in front of my user name and the pword is not accepted. This is driving me nuts! Any help gratefully accepted!! Thanks!!!!SolvedReadynas 104 OS 6.4.1 not responding proper
Hi! I have two 104's one with 4*4TB and the other with 4*2TB and both seem to have issues now after I updated to 6.4.1.... both in Raid 10 I cannot copy anything from or to them as the speed is down to almost noting e.g. 0-900 kb/s which in my gb-net is not fine.... I reinstalled OS on one but to no avail.... have looked here but found no definite solution as such, at least according to me. I noted that after the update there was a lot of snapshots taken, however I only scheduled that to once a month. All the disks seems fine but there is a lot of reading of them going on. Factory reset is not an option for me, unfortunately. I do wonder if I have to buy something safer than Netgear, as an update shouldn't have this impact at all? Sorry, but this is the way I do feel just now. All the best Eie5.3KViews0likes13CommentsReadyNAS 104 Firmware 6.5.2 to 6.6.0 Issues (Share Access, SMB Disabled)
Hello, I'm having some interesting issues occuring on my ReadyNAS RN104 after attempting to update from Firmware 6.5.2 -> 6.6.0 The firmware was updated via the admin portal, i.e. not a manual upload of the firmware. I received an email suggesting the NAS was rebooting. After 30 minutes of no response / ping from the 'NAS I went to investigate. The LCD Panel had the "Rebooting, See you soon" message, however no activity appeared to be occuring (idle disks, link lights steady, status light solid). I bit the bullet and power cycled the NAS. When it powered up it showed version 6.6.0 so just figured I got struck by a reboot hang that seems to be historically common with the RN104's. However I began to notice the following: I could not access my Share folders anymore. The admin portal attempts to open/expand the folder, however it fails and just loops back to the top level screen. I also cannot mount to the shares using SMB. I also notice the user and group owners for file permissions have been reset to "guest" for all shares. Share permissions seem to be the same, but no impact on access, even changing to allow "Everyone" access myNETGEAR acount suggests my NAS is offline, hinting communication has gone funky somewhere. readyCLOUD app suggesting a similar status Reading some forum discussions on similar issues I did the following: Removed the NAS from myNETGEAR account. Disconnected my readyCLOUD account and rejoined. NAS is now appearing as ONLINE. Reset the "admin" user account - aka re-apply the same password to the account. I can now access the shares correctly and see the data inside. However I can't access the shares via the readyCLOUD app or via SMB. That's when I notice the SMB service is turned OFF ! Any attempts to turn the SMB service back on fail. The system sits there thinking for a while but after it refreshes the GUI the service remains OFF. I have attempted a manual update (upload firmware) of 6.6.0 as well as the Reinstall OS Boot Menu option. Neither have been succesful. :( Am I staring in the face of a Factory Reset?4.9KViews0likes16CommentsFiles not showing from NETGEAR online
Hello all, I have recently restored my ReadyNAS104 to factory settings as I kept getting errors when I tried creating a new user. That error has gone away and have restored most of the settings back. I copied all my files onto an external HDD before the reset and copied them back after the restore from the external HDD to the NAS through my iMac. The problem is that although on my iMac I can view and edit all the files on the NAS, when I access the NETGEAR NAS website, I can see that the data is on the NAS but cannot see the files per se. Screenshots below; As you can see in the image above, there should be 382GB of data on the NAS, 300GB are backups and 82GB of personal files etc. But in the image below you will notice that the main folder is visible but the files are not. The reason I bring this up as I am trying to give access to my NAS to 2 other Windows PCs and when I try to map as a network drive, the only folder that shows up is the backup folder and nothing else. Even if I input the NAS IP address into File Explorer, I get the same problem, as per the below; If anyone has any ideas on how I may get around this, I would greatly appreciate your assistance. Thanks in advance Best regardsSolved4.6KViews0likes4Comments
