ReadyNAS firmware 6.8.1 Hi, I have been using ReadyNAS for a while now, I have four in total and they have been 'almost' flawless. This morning, however, when I turned one of them on, the Power light continues to flash indicating an issue. Ran RAIDar 6.3.0 and it tells me both drives are healthy but that the Management Service is Offline. SSH is not enabled on the device currently (i don't run with SSH enabled). I was, however, able to download the logs using RAIDar. I tried to upload them for convenience but zip files are not allowed. Upon searching the forums the most common suggestion appears to be a full O/S partition... but that doing a re-install of the O/S from the boot menu does not fix the issue. I have not yet done this and would prefer not to perform a factory reset unless we have to. any assistance in getting my admin page back up and running would be appreciated. Many thanks. KristianSolvedRN102 fails to boot when one mirrored drive fails or is missing
Hello everyboby, I have been looking for a solution or help but was not able to find any hints regarding the following problem. I own a RN102 device equiped with two disk forming a X-RAID mirror. So far, so good. The RAID is healthy and looks fine. The last few days the device complained that disk2 is likely to fail. So I tried to replace the device by pulling the disk accordingto the handbook. At this moment the RN102 stucks an is not reachable anymore. When I reset the device, the poer LED keeps on blinking. RAIDAR is able to find the device but indicating the the is no configuration on it. The first disk is show as already used with data. When I put the second disk back an reboot the RN, it comes up fine and operates normally. It seems that the OS an it's config is missing on the first disk. Any idea how to get the corrected? Thanks to everybody. Greetings ChrisSolved3.1KViews0likes19Comments4TB drives alternatives for RN102, not listed in HCL
Folks, I am reconsidering a purchase of 2X4TB drives for more economical options. I would like to stick to 7200RPM, so this eliminates a whole bunch of WD, HGST and Seagate drives. I am really intrigued by the Toshiba N300 series, which state to be for NAS applications. However, these models are not on the HCL. Considering the HCL is from 9 months ago, is there a chance these drives haven't made the list yet? I did not find relevant and recent discussion about this topic. How to set up the antivirus program behavior. My system 6.8.0 (RN102) does not show the following options. I have antivirus turned on, but it is not possible to set the antivirus in more detail. I do not want to let antivirus decide to delete suspicious files! Will someone please help me?Solved3.9KViews0likes5CommentsReplacing Hard Drives RN102 - Raid 0
If I'm replacing the hard drives in a Raid 0 configuration (upgrading from 2x2 to 2x8), does it require that I factory reset the NAS? I can't remember if I can just replace the drive and then go to the admin page and format them. Thanks,Solved1.4KViews0likes1CommentFan in fullspeed ( readyNAS 102)
Situation: - ReadyNAS RN102 F.W. : 6.8.0 - RAIDar: 6.3.0 Problem: The fan in my Nas is continious in full speed, While the dashboard says it's not working. The temperature of the HDD's is 32 degrees celcius, the processor 42 degrees. Looking for a solution............:-(2.6KViews0likes4CommentsRN 102 permissions, unable to create/edit folders
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction here. I just noticed today that I am unable to create or edit files and folders on my ReadyNAS 102 device. It appears that I am able to access and read/write to the folders internal to the NAS but lost write access to the external devices (3 USB WD MyBook drives). I tried rebooting the NAS, and have looked at the permissions and nothing seems awry. The only recent change is I turned off anonymous access when granting cloud access to a friend earlier this week. I also suffered a power loss during a storm yesterday, but it was brief and nothing suffered any ill effects. I am re-enabling anonymous access to see if that makes a difference, but so far it has not. I have the three external devices mapped as network drives to my PC and when viewing them under File Explorer (Win10 Pro) the options to delete, make a new folder, rename, etc are all grayed out. Same if you right-click. Has anyone experienced this or know what else I should check? I have SMB enabled on all and the only change was the anonymous access. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.Solved3.3KViews0likes2CommentsNetwork configuration and Computer name change
Hi guys! I'm brand new to this forum and was directed here by customer support. I was helped two weeks back to get my NAS back online but when I have tried to log in since it just says it's offline (attached is a screenshot of the message). I have recently changed the computers name and can't help but think that may have thrown off the configuration but the technical wizardry the customer support provided was amazing to re-configure everything - but there's no way I couldn't follow what he was doing or understand it. Could anybody lend me a helping hand to try and do this myself? TomSolved5.5KViews0likes10CommentsSMB disabled
I had been having a lot of issues with my ReadyNAS - initially I could not get a 'stable' file transfer for any sizable files using explorer (it would just hang after inactivity). However, it was at least working through the brower UI. Lately, even that stopped so I was left with no way to transfer files within folders on the NAS or externally. Aside from un-installing/re-installing SMB services on my Windows 10 PC, I tried disabling the services not being used (i.e. AFP and NFS) as I only access through windows. This however automatically completely disabled SMB and since then I cannot get SMB back to enabled. It just doesn't stay green in the settings no matter what I try. I've tried re-installing 6.6.1 many times now, and even upgraded to 6.7.0 beta 4 but nothing seems to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really would appreciate some assistance by anyone who is familiar with backing up a NAS 102. What I need is a review of what I have done and any corrections necessary. My goal is to have an independent backup to avoid the loss of data on my NAS via ReadyCloud, as in the latest incident of March 30th. (I have very little experience with a NAS, so patience and good directions are necessary.) I use an iMac and have attached a 5GB USB3 drive to the top rear USB port of the NAS102, Firmware 6.6.1. It is formatted to NTFS. So here is what I have done: 1. Created a “backup” in the Admin section of ReadyCloud. 2. Backup “Data” share which contains all my shares to my USB HHD. 3, All is then backed up to the USB HHD and visible on the drive via ReadyCloud. Questions: 1. Is this backup scheme what I need to reach my goal? If not, detailed suggestions. 2. Can I disconnect the USB drive until I want to another manual backup? If so, is there a menu in ReadyCloud or Admin to safely eject the drive or can I just pull the USB connection? Location of eject, if there is one?(I can't find one.) 3. I am concerned that if I leave the drive connected to the NAS that ReadyCloud can “accidentally” delete my access to this backup as in the March 30th incident. Finally, I am concerned with leaving this drive on 24/7. Quality of the drive is not as good as my NAS HHD’s. 4. Finally, assume the NAS loses access via ReadyCloud, will the data on the backup be visible and usable if I plug the drive into my iMac or even a Windows machine which I can get access to? Thank you so very much in replying to this request. I know to the initiated, that this must seem mundane and the answers are buried somewhere in the forums. I’ve been looking through the forums and things can get real technical. Thanks again!3.3KViews0likes6Comments
