I discovered my free space was under 10%. I originally set up shares to make snapshots. I no longer feel the need for snapshots and have turned them off in one share to see how I can recover free space. This one folder showed 54 years of snapshot recovery. Quite ridiculous. Now that I have set the snapshot to 'Never', what next? I did a refresh but still see the snapshots and 10% or less free space. Do I have to wait a certain time for the snapshots to delete or what?Solved1.7KViews0likes4CommentsDeleted snapshots on ready nas 104. Need HELP !
Hello, Due to improper handling, all snapshots of a volume of my nas have been erased. All the files in this volume have disappeared but the size of the space used has not changed. I deduce that the data is still present but that access is impossible. Is it possible to recover this data? ReafyNas 104 of 4 disks in Xraid. Thank you in advance for your answers.1.2KViews0likes5CommentsSnapshots Have Suddenly Stopped
II recently upgraded by ReadyNAS 526 to OS 6.8.0. I have all of my shares set to take a daily snapshot and those snapshots get backed up to a RN314 on a nightly basis. In looking at the shares yesterday, I discovered that all of the Snapshots stopped getting created on the 526 on 8/24/2017. I am not getting any error messages and everything else seems to be working correctly. Is anyone else experiencing this issue and if so, do you know a fix for it? I have a backup share on a RasyNas running the curent firmware (6.7.5) This contains around 50GB of backups (which come from another ReadyNAS via rsync). I made a silly mistake and set up a new rsync backup to this same share, which copied the new data to the share, but wiped out everything else. Fortunately this was easily resolved by rolling back the share to the most recent shapshot. (Saved me a day or two of re-syncing the entire original backup over broadband) However, once this was done the consumed space on the main Shares screen dropped to 0. It is now at 1.1GB, which I suspect is just the changes that have been syncronised to the share since the rollback. Is there a way I can get the consumed space to be correct again?2.9KViews0likes4CommentsRN316 FW: 6.7.5 - Snapshots - Reclaiming Space
I really don't want to start another Snapshot thread but I've been reading many threads like this in the last two days and I'm not sure what to do. So an advanced apology since this topic has been covered many times before but I can't seem to find an answer that works for me. In the last few months I've replaced my old Ultras6s with 316s. Moved all my data. Backedup up all my data. Updated the firmware like a good citizen. Yet I am plagued with deleted snapshots that won't recover space on my systems. Both 316s (one 6x4 the other 6x3) are both approaching 3TB of snapshots that I don't need. I do need the space for data. I'm tired of reading the "You are 70% full" in my system logs and "This may affect performance. Buy bigger disks". What I've done is these commands via ssh: # touch /.force_snapshots_upgrade # systemctl restart readynasd However, I'm a ssh novice. I'm not sure what to look for or expect. How long to wait. Is this doing anything as I sit here and type this post? A few questions then: What am I looking to see happen and where? Will Netgear ever address this issue? If my backups are always current do I need snapshots? The thought of doing a factory reset to correct this makes me wanna weep. Any ideas? We have several ReadyNAS 3138 using Egnyte Storage Sync. The snapshot turnoff when device is rebooted or if Egnyte Storage sync updates the software. Is there a way we can get snapshot not to turn off?2.8KViews0likes3CommentsReadyNAS 214 - Backup/Reset/Restore
I have a client with a nearly new ReadyNAS 214. He's had several issues with files being backed up to Amazon Cloud then deleted randomly off the device. He's worked with Netgear Support, and the Snapshots feature has recovered most of the missing files. Now we want to backup ALL the data, factory reset the device, and re-initialize the hardware all over again on the newest 6.7.5 firmware. Question: He has Snapshots turned on for the relevant Shares. If I turn on 'Make Snapshots viewable' can I effectively "backup" those Snapshots to an external USB drive and then Restore back to the "new" (re-initialized) system? Recently my snapshots stopped being taken. They were set to Smart / Daily. I used the "Power Timer" scheduler to turn the NAS off at midnight every night, and previously snapshots were taken at a few seconds after midnight, even though the NAS was to be powered off then. I upgraded to firmware version 6.6.1 recently, and it may be that this version is the cause of the problem. I have now scheduled the NAS to turn off at 01:00 instead and the snapshots have started being taken again. I think the firmware needs to be modified to make sure snapshots are taken regardless of when the NAS powers off. Unfortunately the firmware carried on deleting old snapshots, and by the time I had found out that no new ones were being taken, the firmware had deleted all my snapshots except for my very first manual ones. So this needs fixing please.3.7KViews1like3Comments
