I am quite frustrated at this point. I had a CM600 modem to support Comcast's Extreme 150 service. I've had it for a few years and was consistently getting 160 to 170mbps speed from it. About three weeks ago, I noticed a drop off and did a speed test and could not get more than 50mbps. Comcast reset the modem (I did the same thing). No change. They sent a tech out to the house and he swapped out my modem for one of theirs and lo and behold, 170mbps. He said I needed a new modem. I was a little suspicious of this, but wanting to eventually get gigabit service when it becomes available, I bought a CM1000. It provisioned fine, but I am seeing the same behavior. At the start of the speed test it spikes to over 100 but eventually averages out to 70 or 80. They came out again and re-trenched a new thicker line between the street and the house. Still the same behavior. The tech came out again today and installed a dedicated line directly from the outside box to the modem. Still the same behavior. The logs from the Modem are consistently showing: Time Priority Description 2017-12-03, 10:41:31 Notice (6) CM-STATUS message sent. So I just recently purchased the Orbi RBK40 router and I noticed you cannot separate the 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi signals through normal methods. I was told that the router has a system or program that automatically pushes the best connection possible. All the devices that support a 5GHz connection seem to connect just fine. However, there are two PS4 Pros in the house and the router refuse to connect it to the 5GHz conncetion. Under my network settings on both PS4 Pro say they are on a 2.4 GHz conncetion. Even under the router GUI it says that it's connected to the 2.4 GHz conncetion. I've been trying to look up methods on how to connect it mannually but no luck. I found a post that teaches how to separate the SSIDs for both the 2.4 and 5 GHz and it worked, however the devices that were connceting to the 5GHz were experincing lag issues and would not have a consistent download rate. I usually average between 145-150 Mbps download when I don't split the SSIDs. However, when they are separate SSIDs, the download ranges from 6-130 Mbps and is never consistent. Not to mention, when the SSIDs are split, the PS4s seems to disconnect from the router frequently. Long story short, is there a way to connect the PS4 Pro to the 5GHz connection?Orbi RBR50 and Slow WiFi Problems with iOS Devices
I’ve been experience a very strange problem with slow WiFi speeds on my iOS devices for a few months now and was wondering if anyone might be able to point me to something to try to fix it. It seems that the problem started when I updated our iPhones and iPads to iOS 11 and has been ongoing ever since. I have spoken with Apple about the issue, but nothing we’ve tried has helped. Things like turning Airplane mode on and off, resetting network settings, re-setting up the iPad/iPhone as a new device, etc. Here’s what happens. When home, the iOS devices act normally and have a good connection to the Orbi system and get full Internet speed (150 Mbps for my service) all over the house. If we then take the iOS devices out of the house and connect to another WiFi network, such as at work, all is still well. The problem starts when we return home. They connect to the WiFi network just fine, but if I perform a speed test, they will show anywhere from about 1 Mbps to about 25 Mbps connections and will not get any better throughput. Also, while this is happening, if you try to use an application that accesses the Internet, it will experience long delays in accessing the information every few minutes. Once the delay is over, everything works as expected, but at the low, and sometimes very low, connection speeds. No amount of fiddling with the iOS devices will correct the situation; however, through the process of elimination I found that restarting the Orbi router gets everything back to working as expected. I can’t for the life of me figure out what could potentially be causing this odd behavior, but would appreciate any insight that someone may have and would be willing to share. This is becoming more and more annoying as time goes on.Netgear R7000 isn't up to speed on a gigabit connection through CM1000 modem
Hi, I recently got a Netgear CM1000 modem on my gigabit Xfinity connection. When I hook my laptop up to the modem directly I am getting close to a gigabit connection, at least above 900 Mbps consistently. But when I hook up (ethernet) through my R7000 with fully upgraded stock firmware I'm still just getting around 200 Mbps which is the speed I used to have before my connection was upgraded. What could the reason be for me not getting any speed increase when connecting through the router? As far as I can see the the router should be able to handle the speed.Solved16KViews0likes5CommentsN300 WNR2000v2 Wireless Router slow download speed
Hey, I have Time Warner Cable as my internet service provider. I used to pay for 50 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload speeds. I used to get those speeds when connected to my Netgear router through wifi fine. Two days ago Time Warner Cable updated our internet to 200 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload speed. When connected from laptop to modem given by Time Warner, the speeds are fine. However, when connected to my Netgear router through wifi, I am now only getting around 30 Mbps download but the upload has gone up to around 20 Mbps. So basically Time Warner upgraded my internet but Netgear has dropped my download speed and raised my upload speed. Some of my router settings: Channel - Auto Mode - 300 Mbps Security is on AES option. My default router MTU was 1492. I tried changing that to numerous options such as 1400, 1440, 1460, ect. but speeds remained the same. I put it back to 1492. I have tried disabling WMM,changing DNS, as well as changing channels. No change in speeds. Please help with this. Thanks.SolvedNETGEAR A6210 WiFi USB3.0 Adapter Connection Speed Still 54Mb/s Argggh!
I have installed software version 1.0.0.36 as recommended on this forum, I have set the USB Speed to 3.0 in the Advanced tab, I have disabled the NetgearUSBSwitch process from Start-up, and probably a few other things too which escape me at this hour, but I still only get a slow 54Mb/s connection speed. After the installation of the software v1.0.0.36 the connection speed did go up to 144Mb/s and all was good, but the next start up of my PC and all back as it was. Any suggestion would be gratefully received as I'm just about to purchase another manufacturers Wi-Fi Adapter. Thanks in advance.Solved11KViews0likes5CommentsRandom issues with C6300
Hi all, I've been looking through the forums for answers to these questions, but nothing seems really applicable to these problems, so I guess I'll start with a bit of backstory: Recently our internet service was boosted to new, higher speeds from our ISP. The end result was that our old modem no longer suited our needs if we wanted access to the new speeds. We decided to upgrade to get access to those speeds, and so purchased the C6300 to ensure compatibility (checked with the ISP first, it is a suitable router for the plan we are on). The installation went fine, except for my ISP having to send a tech out to finish the install, since the modem was not showing up as active on their end [turned out that, after repeating them 3 times, they had incorrectly entered the MAC and Serial Numbers], but while he was here he checked everything. There are no splitters in the house, we have a solid connection running to the house and everything was in perfect order by the time he left (he also came back about five minutes later to make sure everything was still in top shape, since the ISP had contacted him to say they noticed a small hiccup on our end, everything was still fine). Then, a couple of hours later, we started having a couple of issues: -Speeds on my hardwired PC are fantastic, they actually sit a bit above the new max speeds we were told (http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4695796276), but when connecting through WiFi everything feels sluggish, and speeds rarely top 25Mbps down / 2Mbps up. I've checked the settings over and over, but everything seems to be set correctly. The C6300 is in the exact same place as the previous modem/router used to be, and we had zero issues there. Am I overlooking something simple? For instance, would changing to a different channel help? -We also seem to be suffering from random disconnects, but they aren't really disconnects, more like momentary lapses. Randomly while using computers or laptops on WiFi or, more often, towards the later hours at night when using an Xbox One we'll get random "attempting to connect to server" messages for any game that attempts to connect to any online service, or we'll randomly get bumped to "Limited" internet access on computers. The hardwired PC remains perfectly fine, but everything else on WiFi seems to lapse, and it's only a momentary thing, not long-term, but it will happen more than once. -I'm also seeing this message popping up a lot when I check the logs: [DoS attack] AIF: Dropped INPUT packet: PROTO:2 SPT: DPT: 1 Saturday, 26 Sep 2015 07:22:41 224.0.0.1 10.128.64.1 I know it's not a legitimate DoS attack, but it seems strange that it continues to pop up like this routinely in the logs. Is this something I need to be concerned about? Any help in sorting this out would be greatly appreciated! :)Solved9.7KViews0likes11CommentsSpeed from 500mbps down to 25mbps
So i just received the Orbi yesterday and have it setup. The good news is, I have full signel all over my house. The bad news is, if I tested the speed via ethernet cable between the rounter and my laptop, I am looking at full speed 500mbps, tested via wireless is about 350 mbps. Placed the satellite on 2/F and it's showing good connection between the rounter and the satellite, speed via ethernet cable somehow dropped to 70mbps, wifi speed via the satellite dropped to 25mbps (sometimes even 16mbps) Is there any reason why the speen could dropped so much? I even got highed speed when I had powerline adpater before switching to Orbi. It is very frustrated since I am buying Orbi to expect full coverage with full speed..... any idea?V1.0.7.2_1.1.93 has more than halved my speed
