10 TopicsPS4 Pro Wont Connect to the 5GHz Signal
So I just recently purchased the Orbi RBK40 router and I noticed you cannot separate the 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi signals through normal methods. I was told that the router has a system or program that automatically pushes the best connection possible. All the devices that support a 5GHz connection seem to connect just fine. However, there are two PS4 Pros in the house and the router refuse to connect it to the 5GHz conncetion. Under my network settings on both PS4 Pro say they are on a 2.4 GHz conncetion. Even under the router GUI it says that it's connected to the 2.4 GHz conncetion. I've been trying to look up methods on how to connect it mannually but no luck. I found a post that teaches how to separate the SSIDs for both the 2.4 and 5 GHz and it worked, however the devices that were connceting to the 5GHz were experincing lag issues and would not have a consistent download rate. I usually average between 145-150 Mbps download when I don't split the SSIDs. However, when they are separate SSIDs, the download ranges from 6-130 Mbps and is never consistent. Not to mention, when the SSIDs are split, the PS4s seems to disconnect from the router frequently. Long story short, is there a way to connect the PS4 Pro to the 5GHz connection?Orbi RBR50 and Slow WiFi Problems with iOS Devices
I’ve been experience a very strange problem with slow WiFi speeds on my iOS devices for a few months now and was wondering if anyone might be able to point me to something to try to fix it. It seems that the problem started when I updated our iPhones and iPads to iOS 11 and has been ongoing ever since. I have spoken with Apple about the issue, but nothing we’ve tried has helped. Things like turning Airplane mode on and off, resetting network settings, re-setting up the iPad/iPhone as a new device, etc. Here’s what happens. When home, the iOS devices act normally and have a good connection to the Orbi system and get full Internet speed (150 Mbps for my service) all over the house. If we then take the iOS devices out of the house and connect to another WiFi network, such as at work, all is still well. The problem starts when we return home. They connect to the WiFi network just fine, but if I perform a speed test, they will show anywhere from about 1 Mbps to about 25 Mbps connections and will not get any better throughput. Also, while this is happening, if you try to use an application that accesses the Internet, it will experience long delays in accessing the information every few minutes. Once the delay is over, everything works as expected, but at the low, and sometimes very low, connection speeds. No amount of fiddling with the iOS devices will correct the situation; however, through the process of elimination I found that restarting the Orbi router gets everything back to working as expected. I can’t for the life of me figure out what could potentially be causing this odd behavior, but would appreciate any insight that someone may have and would be willing to share. This is becoming more and more annoying as time goes on.Speed from 500mbps down to 25mbps
So i just received the Orbi yesterday and have it setup. The good news is, I have full signel all over my house. The bad news is, if I tested the speed via ethernet cable between the rounter and my laptop, I am looking at full speed 500mbps, tested via wireless is about 350 mbps. Placed the satellite on 2/F and it's showing good connection between the rounter and the satellite, speed via ethernet cable somehow dropped to 70mbps, wifi speed via the satellite dropped to 25mbps (sometimes even 16mbps) Is there any reason why the speen could dropped so much? I even got highed speed when I had powerline adpater before switching to Orbi. It is very frustrated since I am buying Orbi to expect full coverage with full speed..... any idea?Orbi Limiting Speed - wired & wireless
I just had Gig internet installed on Friday and when it was installed I had the ethernet cable connected directly from the modem to my Macbook which reported speeds on avergae of 985Mbps. After connecting that same cable to the Orbi, and running the network cable provided by Orbi to my Macbook, the speed is now limited to ~95Mbps. I also ran the speedtest from the QoS section of my Orbi config and it only shows 338Mbps. I've tried restarting the router as well as manually updating the firmware (because it showed no update available) from 2.0.x.x to 2.1.1.16. I don't think I have any special settings besides 3 reserved IPs and 6 port forwardings. Everything else should be out of the box. Interestingly, my 5g wifi is outputting speeds higher than my wired connection - iPhone speedtest shows 268Mbps. (all speedtests done by Ookla Speedtest apps)SolvedBrief magenta then long blue light on RBS50 satellite
Several times last night the RBS50 satellite would flash magenta briefly and then go to blue for a few minutes before shutting off the lights completely. I'm still getting a connection on the satellite but it's at a slower, inconsistent speed. Been on 2.0.0.74 for weeks and haven't moved the router or the satellite; no new devices added that might create RF interference. Performance when clients are wirelessly connected to the router are solid. I have recently connected our security system to the router via ethernet, but will have to see if disconnecting that has any impact. Suggestions? Reset the satellite?Reset satellite only?
I've done a factory reset via the GUI to try and improve speed. Where I was formerly getting 200+ mbs wireless download speeds I now can't break 100 (I get nearly 300 mbs download speed when Ethernet wired to my ISP modem). If I reset the satellite through the pin hole on the unit will the satellite only reset, or would the GUI reset have taken care of that?Internet Connection Speeds Slow/Degrade Over Time
I recently noticed that my Internet download speeds had slowed down dramatically, from a normal 85 Mbits/sec down to about 2 Mbits/second, so I did some troubleshooting to see what I could find. I first restarted the cable modem to see if that would make a difference, but it did not. The download speeds remained abysmal. I then verified the connection between my iMac and the Orbi system and it showed a connection speed in the range of 540 Mbits/sec, so all looked good there. I clearly had a strong signal from the Orbi router. So, next I rebooted the Orbi router. Once it came back up, I retried the Internet speed test and got good, normal results, i.e. 85 Mbits/sec. Could there be an issue with the Orbi that somehow causes the Internet speed to degrade over time? I have seen a similar issue with other routers before, but I thought that we'd be well past anything like that with the Orbi system. Should I be setting the Orbi up to reboot itself regularly? Is this really necessary? Thanks for any advice that you may have regarding this situation! How Many Simultaneous Connections Can The Orbi WiFi Possibly Support (For Running A Webserver)
Hello, I have been running a local webserver off of my Netgear Orbi system (via portforwarding). What's happening is that it will run fine for a while, then it will start to fail. The software seems to geerate no crash warnings, and I and their tech support have suggested that my web server is generating the maximum number of connections that my Orbi system can hande, causing it to cut the connection, though I am still able to visit websites when this happens. My web server can get up to several thousand connections to it at once, the sent data never too much too slow my connection down, the allowed connection speed is about 1mb per second. I am wondering, for this purpose, about how many connections to it is the Orbi system capable of handelig at once? Thank you.SolvedOrbi WiFi Speed
Hello, I had new internet service installed today (300 Down / 20 Up). Speed tests from the Orbi app and hardwired to the router show great speeds. However, when I run any kind of speed test when connected to WiFi, the best download speed I can get is 13MB. This is from broth iPhones and laptops. Both Beamforming and Mu-MIMO are enabled. Not sure if there is a problem with a setting or if this is related to a firmware issue. Current firmware is 2.1.2.18. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, BenOrbi RBR50 firmware V2.0.0.74. Does it support Gig down
I have the RBR50 with 3 satilights. I was getting roughly 275-280 down & 30 up when I had the 300/35 plan with my ISP. I've upgraded to the GIG down 50up plan and my Orbi speed dropped to 150 down but up upgraded to 50. I tried to check to see if I upgraded my speed past the orbi's capabilities and saw something that it supported up to 400 down. Is that correct or did I mis-understand (if that's a word)? So could my issue be caused by my web speed being being upgraded past the Orbi's abilities and is that why my speed has actually gone down after the upgrade? Hardwired test direct to a computer showed that the ISP is sending the upgraded speed. Older computer showed 380 down and Omex X setup hardwired was full speed. Also, I put the specs in the subject because the mobel tab wasn't working.
