6 TopicsNew C7100V took a nose dive - slow DL speed/normal upload
Model Number: c7100v Firmware: V2.01.33 OS: Mac High Sierra v10.13.3 Hi guys. I purchased the Nighthawk c7100v dual modem/router so I could stop paying the rental fee through comcast, and it works with the triple play that we have. We have a one story, 4 bedroom home and I've never had an issue with coverage or speed with comcast's Arris dual modem/router that we used for years. My speeds using comcast equipment were 150 Mbps down/5 mbps up. Nothing special, but it does the trick. I installed the Nighthawk, called comcast and activated it, checked connectivity and it was working fine. Very similar speeds using the speedtest.net. That was March 17th, last Saturday. On Sunday, March 18th, I noticed the internet was lagging quite a bit. I checked speedtest and it ran a 6 mbps download/5 mbps upload. I restarted the Nighthawk and tried again, but same result. I am lucky to get 10mbps. I'm not using another router, the placement of the Nighthawk is above anything else, not being blocked by metal or a wall, it's in the living room out in the open. I called comcast and they are sending a technician, but I'd like to try and fix it myself in case it's something you guys can help me with. Thanks for taking the time to read this, hope to see a good answer on here soon. Have a great night! Chef2.3KViews0likes4CommentsCM1000 Xfinity issues
I am quite frustrated at this point. I had a CM600 modem to support Comcast's Extreme 150 service. I've had it for a few years and was consistently getting 160 to 170mbps speed from it. About three weeks ago, I noticed a drop off and did a speed test and could not get more than 50mbps. Comcast reset the modem (I did the same thing). No change. They sent a tech out to the house and he swapped out my modem for one of theirs and lo and behold, 170mbps. He said I needed a new modem. I was a little suspicious of this, but wanting to eventually get gigabit service when it becomes available, I bought a CM1000. It provisioned fine, but I am seeing the same behavior. At the start of the speed test it spikes to over 100 but eventually averages out to 70 or 80. They came out again and re-trenched a new thicker line between the street and the house. Still the same behavior. The tech came out again today and installed a dedicated line directly from the outside box to the modem. Still the same behavior. The logs from the Modem are consistently showing: Time Priority Description 2017-12-03, 10:41:31 Notice (6) CM-STATUS message sent. I have a C6300 Wifi cable modem router that I cannot seem to obtain a quality signal with and need assistance. The singal strength seems to be good with MOST of my devices and the connection speed with my direct connection devices are flawless. However, when it comes to getting calls with Skype for Business in a wireless connection, my expereince drops significantly. There has got to be something I can to to enhance my signal so I can take calls wile on a wireless network. And to make matters worse, I am in an apartment complex so there are a fair share of devices surrounding me. I attempted to change my channel on the 5GHz side to be on a channel that has the least congestion, but the channel does not seem to stick. What am I missing? Is there any sugesstions in improving my quality and speed of my Wifi connection? I have tried different DNS servers like Google and CloudFlare, but they seemed to have slowed my connection rather than make it faster. The thing that does not make sense is that the admin page does not show a channel for GHz and even my NetSpot application shows my 5GHz being 2.4GHz, I do not get it.1.1KViews0likes2CommentsN450 CG3000Dv2 How do I enable 5GHz? Does anyone have any optimization suggestions for setting up the router? I'm with Time Warner and because of the many devices we have connected in our home, we're getting low speeds even though we have 200mbps. I know we won't get close to this with wi-fi, but we can't watch tv without seeing the rebuffering circle every few minutes. Called Netgear and they want to charge a service fee for supporting their own equipment. Um, no...so, I'm reaching out to the community. Also, have a question about why my single network shows up as 5 when we look to change the internet channel because of interference. There could be no other network on a channel I switch to, then, poof! There's 5 all of a sudden. Why? Thanks!.4.1KViews0likes1CommentRandom issues with C6300
Hi all, I've been looking through the forums for answers to these questions, but nothing seems really applicable to these problems, so I guess I'll start with a bit of backstory: Recently our internet service was boosted to new, higher speeds from our ISP. The end result was that our old modem no longer suited our needs if we wanted access to the new speeds. We decided to upgrade to get access to those speeds, and so purchased the C6300 to ensure compatibility (checked with the ISP first, it is a suitable router for the plan we are on). The installation went fine, except for my ISP having to send a tech out to finish the install, since the modem was not showing up as active on their end [turned out that, after repeating them 3 times, they had incorrectly entered the MAC and Serial Numbers], but while he was here he checked everything. There are no splitters in the house, we have a solid connection running to the house and everything was in perfect order by the time he left (he also came back about five minutes later to make sure everything was still in top shape, since the ISP had contacted him to say they noticed a small hiccup on our end, everything was still fine). Then, a couple of hours later, we started having a couple of issues: -Speeds on my hardwired PC are fantastic, they actually sit a bit above the new max speeds we were told (http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4695796276), but when connecting through WiFi everything feels sluggish, and speeds rarely top 25Mbps down / 2Mbps up. I've checked the settings over and over, but everything seems to be set correctly. The C6300 is in the exact same place as the previous modem/router used to be, and we had zero issues there. Am I overlooking something simple? For instance, would changing to a different channel help? -We also seem to be suffering from random disconnects, but they aren't really disconnects, more like momentary lapses. Randomly while using computers or laptops on WiFi or, more often, towards the later hours at night when using an Xbox One we'll get random "attempting to connect to server" messages for any game that attempts to connect to any online service, or we'll randomly get bumped to "Limited" internet access on computers. The hardwired PC remains perfectly fine, but everything else on WiFi seems to lapse, and it's only a momentary thing, not long-term, but it will happen more than once. -I'm also seeing this message popping up a lot when I check the logs: [DoS attack] AIF: Dropped INPUT packet: PROTO:2 SPT: DPT: 1 Saturday, 26 Sep 2015 07:22:41 224.0.0.1 10.128.64.1 I know it's not a legitimate DoS attack, but it seems strange that it continues to pop up like this routinely in the logs. Is this something I need to be concerned about? Any help in sorting this out would be greatly appreciated! :)Solved9.7KViews0likes11Comments
