Hello. I bought my r7500 on May 28, 2015 and it's been working great. This evening I saw that the network control panel showed a new firmware update was available. I'm connected via ethernet and initiated the update. After a few minutes I had no connection. I figured it was due to the update still running so I waited. After several minutes I went to the router and found that it showed a white light for the computer connection I was on plus two other connections that showed orange and the power light was solid orange. I power cycled it and it stayed orange. I've attempted numerous resets, tried to ping it to the previously set IP address I was using as well as the reset IP 192.168.1.10 (also tried 192.168.1.1) and I get no response. I did a 30/30/30 reset and that doesn't do anything either. I started to call support twice but was on the line for over 10 minutes each time. I'm past the 90 day phone support window so I'm essentially stuck with a dead device. I work from my home office so it's pretty imperative that I get up and running quickly. I may have to buy a new router and RMA this one. Not sure. Any options for me to possibly manually reset via a different firmware or another method I've not tried to get it to allow me to at least ping it so I can do the manual firmware update?Solved7.8KViews0likes2CommentsUpgrading RN Ultra FV 4 to OS6.2
In this post http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=389083#p389083 I found an update procedure: Download and install R4toR6_Prep_Addon.bin (26 KB) (upload before modified IMG, don't reboot, avoids the need for manual factory default in between) Download pre modified IMG, (see link above to see what has been modified) Upgrade firmware in Frontview 4.2 (with above file) Is this still the way to go? There isn't a pinned topic "upgrading legacy x86 to OS6", and info seems distibuted over multiple topics. To be complete: I'm trying to install those bins via command line, but that's in a separate topic: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=153&t=802063.2KViews0likes4CommentsReadyNAS Ultra 4 Plus OS6 - FAN constantly on full power
Hi, I have upgraded my Ultra 4 Plus with OS 6.2.2 and all seems to be working well apart from my fan is on full speed all of the time. I have searched through the posts and the comments seem to suggest that the fan speed has been resolved since 6.1.9 but this isn't the case for me as my fan has started spinning like crazy since I updated. BTW All the metrics are reported seemingly correctly in the GUI. Please can someone guide me how I might be able to resolve this issue? Many thanks3.2KViews0likes5Comments6.2 update connection lost

The release notes state you can't downgrade from 6.2 to 6.1 however with the old school units (Ultra Plus in my case) can you (still) downgrade from 6.2 to 4? I need to keep that option open but would like to play with 6.2. Not worrying about retaining the data so a factory default is fine.2.4KViews0likes3Comments
