Hello all. This is regarding my R6400 WiFi Router with the most recent firmware (V1.0.1.34_1.0.24). For a long time now my ethernet cable connection from Router to desktop PC (windows 10 64) has disconnected briefely every half hour or so (sometimes more sometimes less it's hard to gauge). I would say it goes out for about 10 seconds then returns. I see a little red X over the internet symbol in the taskbar when this happens so it's definitely going down for whatever reason. It's not the worst problem one can have, but sometimes I play online poker and it can make a huge difference there when in a big pot happening. I really can't risk it anymore and need to solve this. I tried switching which port the cable is plugged into but got the same problem. Any ideas? I guess I could buy another wireless adaptor if I can't solve this since our wireless connections never drop, but I'd rather not have to shell out money when the ethernet connection SHOULD work. Thanks everyone!SolvedWifi Extender for Wired Gaming

Im currently wanting a wired connection for my online gaming but fpr reason unknown to me im not allowed to be directly plugged into the router would it be better to use a wifi connection or buy a wifi range extender with and ethernet port connect it wirelessly and run the ethernet to my xbox?903Views0likes1CommentX10 R9000 wired network running at 100Mbps
I recently bought a X10 R9000 router to replace my old WNDR4500 N900 router, also from Netgear. I have Cat 6 or better ethernet cable running from the cable modem to the router and from the router to two computers. - When the WNDR4500 was installed, I could achieve ~80 - 100 megabytes per second transfer rates between my two wired computers (~gigabit speeds) - The leds on the old router indicated gigabit ethernet connections - I installed the R9000 in the same location and did not change any of the ethernet wiring or the gigabit switches I have in place - The R9000 shows white flashing leds for the two computers, indicating gigabit ethernet connections - When I transfer a large file, the speed clearly tops out at ~10-11 megabytes per second, like it's hitting a hard limit (looks like ~100Mbps ethernet) - I disconnected everything and connected both computers directly to the router using Cat6 cables and I still see the same transfer rate limit - I turned off any QOS settings I could find, but no change I have already checked for new firmware (none available yet). Do I have a defective R9000? I'm really considering returning this and waiting for a less buggy AC7200 router to come out. At this point, my expensive router looks like a downgrade.Solved3.2KViews0likes5CommentsLinking Xbox One Wired Connection NAT issues
Hello! I have a NETGEAR Genie R6400 wireless router. I have hooked up my Xbox One in the past when I first purchased this router and I had this same issue. When the Xbox is wired directly to the router with all current settings the NAT type on the console is strict and "behind a port-preserving port-symmetric NAT". When I had this issue about a year ago, I contacted Xbox support, who led me through a series of options. These options ended up with me setting a static IP for the console, forwarding a number of ports, turning off UPnP, disabling SIP ALG and setting it to "open NAT," and establishing a DMZ to my consoles static IP. These settings all fixed the issue I was having. However, recently my router was reset to factory settings by another family member and now these settings are not fixing the issue. I contacted Xbox support and they walked me through some steps but none were successful. I'm curious if I need to completely redo the process? All my previous settings were still present, such as my static IP and the DMZ. I had to re-forward all the ports but I just forwarded them to the previously saved static IP. Could this be the issue I'm having? Or are there other settings I should be looking at? What setting should be changed or needed to wire my Xbox One directly to the router so the NAT type is open and I'm getting the most out of my router for bandwidth and gaming. Any and all responses and help is appreciated, thank you.11KViews0likes7CommentsWNDR3400v3 slow wired connection
I recently upgraded my internet speed from 50mbps to 100mbps. Prior to the upgrade my wired connection speed to the router was always very near that 50mbps mark and my wirless speed was also very close (somewhere in the 30-40s). After upgrading, the speeds directly out of my modem are actually higher than the 100mbps target, I'm getting 120-130mbps consistently when plugged directly into the modem. However, when hard-wired to the router, I am seeing a significant drop off. The wired router connection has never been above 60mbps. My wireless speed is about the same as what it was before. I called support and they kept telling me that wireless speeds will always be less than what you pay for. He was not understanding that my concern was the hard-wired connection being half the speed that is coming directly from the modem. Then, he wanted to charge me $80 to try to "optimize the settings" remotely. I could go buy an identical router for less than that price and use the free trial support and have an extra router lying around (that can apparently only handle 50mbps incoming speeds). Anyways, I was wondering if there were any troubleshooting steps I should complete before buying a new router. I've tried factory resetting the router, Downgrading and Upgrading firmware, different ethernet cables (all cables worked at 120+mbps directly to the router). Nothing can get the speed above 60mbps. Thanks for any help that can be provided.SolvedR7000 connectivity with HP wired laser jet
I've been using a HP Laserjet M553 for a few months connected via lan cable to the R7000 and it's been fine. But recently (last few weeks or so) it's lost connectivity. First time I was able to get it to come back by powercycling the HP and assumed it was that but now it wont connect at all and I've power cycled both the printer and the router. If I connect the printer to the router on the ADSL it connects and gets an IP instantly, so it doesn't seem like it's the cable or the printer (although I will try a new cable to be sure). I have tried it in different ports on the R7000 but it doesnt seem to be any different. Any suggestions?Solved4.4KViews0likes7CommentsR6300 Ethernet slow connection
This router has worked great for the past three years. I have a new ISP (Grande Communications) getting 400 Mbps and now all of a sudden the Ethernet ports out of the 6300 router are almost half of what comes out of the modem (Arris DG2470). I've tried all of the router ethernet ports with the same result. I updated the router with the latest firmware three days ago. Tried two new cat 6 cables from the modem to the router and PC. I've tested on multiple computers with the same results. Yet still only get around 180+ Mbps wired out of the router, but am getting 400+ out of the modem. Cat6 from modem to router is six feet. There is only one ethernet cable out of the router plus no active wireless devices devices when I test. The wireless on the Arris modem is disabled so there is no conflict. I would prefer sticking with a seperate wireless instead of using the wireless on the Arris modem. Plus I use OPEN DNS for family site filterning. (I did a test disabling OPEN DNS with both Google DNS and ISP DNS servers with same results. I also have two TIVO mini, but they are using the MoCA connection off the modem (not wifi). The Internet and cable TV come into the house on two seperate feeds. Grande recently installed fiber in my neighborhood, that's why I left Time Warner who only offered 50Mbps. Many time the wireless speed is faster than the wired ethernet. Go figure. I haven't called the cable company yet as they do not support seperate routers. I suppose I could use their wireless (built into the modem) but prefer having more control over my network. I'm at a loss as to why this problem occured and need advice on other options to troubleshoot. Thank you in advance for your comments.SolvedR7000 problems since latest firmware update - which firmware is stable/should I revert to?
I need to perform a firmware upgrade on one of my r7000 routers that is notably behind in this respect. The one that has been upgraded to the latest firmware has had more network drops and performance issues since I did this. After reviewing other Netgear Community discussions, it looks like the issues I'm having since the latest firmware update are global. So, in lieu of a fixed Netgear r7000 firmware update, what is the best/least buggy firmware version for me to use to update my other R7000 so that I don't run into the issues associated with the most recent firmware version?Solved9.3KViews0likes11CommentsBest wired access point
I am setting up a new network in a home fully wired with Cat 6. I will be using a Netgear C7000-100NAS as the cable modem and wifi. However, the signal on the other side of the house is not as strong as I would like. I would like to find an access point to plug into the wired network on the other side of the house to provide strong comprehensive coverage, including the pool/patio area. All I can find are Netgear's prosafe line of APs, which are business class and probably overkill for me. Does any one have any suggestions? Other brands I should consider? Thanks.Solved24KViews0likes4CommentsSlow download speeds Xbox one (WIRED)
Hi All, Since I got the Netgear R7000 Nighthawk my Xbox one has got terrible wired download speeds Most of the time it's between 6-10 mbit. When I check my connection (works just like speedtest.net) I get almost 100% of my ISP speed but when I go to download a game and check the speed, it gets nearly to 10 mbit. Occasionally when I restart the Xbox One or router the speed ups between 90-120 mbit but when I restart the Xbox One again it goes back to the very slow speeds. Port forwarding and IP reservation for Xbox one also didn't help. Nat type is open. I seriously don't know what to do. Please help. Thanks in advance.Solved58KViews0likes5Comments
