Ethernet backhaul after point to point long distance wireless bridge
I currently have a barn that is too far of a distance for a wireless backhaul for RBR50 and RBS50. Instead of running a very long cable to the barn, I got an avalon point to point long distance wireless bridge from my house to my barn. With everything connected, in the barn I can direct connect to the ethernet port and have an internet connection flawless at the speeds my internet plan is rated for upload and download. In otherwords, the point to point bridge works perfect. Now, if I hook up an old TP link router, all wireless etc also works in the barn, but I dont want a new router, I want to connect an Orbi satellite RBS50. I have updated firmware, I have connected it wirelessly at the house, then wired at the house, but when I hook it up at the barn, no recognition of wired backhaul. Who has some suggestions for me. Thanks! The figuration I have tried is Lan port 1 on router RBR50 to wireless bridge and RBS50 on receiving end of wireless bridge at barn.
So here is the long story. I went home and somehow the barn satellite had connected with wireless backhaul to the router even with the distance of barn to house. When I looked at connected devices on the barn satellite, it showed both point to point hardware IPs and MAC addresses connected wired to it. Since they were recognized I just did a reboot of everything and the next time it came on it worked as a wired backhauled satellite no problem. I have no clue what the issue was but the ole unplug it and plug it back in seemed to change things. Thanks for all suggestions.

If the RBS connected at the end point to point in the barn and the RBS is not being seen by the RBR thru this path, possible that the point to point devices are not fully allowing the Orbi specific data traffic to pass thru to the RBR on the other side.
What CAT# lan cable are you using? CAT6 is recommended.

Thanks for the response, I see you on Reddit and here. I appreciate it. I am Cat6 everywhere and the point to point is rated at 1Gbps. When I connect my laptop directly to the point to point in the barn I get the full transfer rate. Is there a way to login directly to set settings for individual RBS for the Ethernet backhaul? Thanks again for any suggestions.

RBS traffic is pretty specific between the RBR and RBS. If there is anything blocking this flow, the RBS won't sync properly. Might see if there is any settings on this p2p device that could help unblock this data flow...
To check to ensure the RBS is working over ethernet, take the RBS to same room or near the RBR, wirelessly sync it first, then connect it over ethernet there with a LAN patch cable. Check the RBRs web page and make sure the RBS shows as a wired connection after this.

How long did you wait for the satellite to connect when in the barn? I have come to expect computers to do things "instantly" and frequently been surprised by how slow certain activities are.

Good question also, I gave it a good 5 minutes to communicate, but ultimately left it connected for hours while I did other projects to no avail.

This definitely should work. The router and satellite cannot detect that they are connected to anything except the Ethernet cables on each end. What lies between those two Ethernet cords is totally hidden and invisible.
When the Orbi satellite is powered on, what pattern does the Ring LED at the top of the satellite display?
(I sometimes lie the unit on its side so that I can stare intently at the top and detect the difference between a white light 'fading' on/off and 'turning' on/off while I count the number of seconds.)

I plan on trying to login to the P2P to see if there are any settings that look like they may be messing up communication.

Sounds like it needed just a reboot of everything to get it working. Glad it worked.
Please mark your thread as solved so others will know. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

Enjoy. 📡- TreyhoundAspirant
So I had rebooted the entire system multiple times, I think it had something to do with the wireless backhaul somehow connecting first then the reboot worked. Anyway, marked as solved and thanks to everyone.
