Issue with Internet 1 min after Orbi setup
I am using orbi on starhub 1gpbs fibre plan.
Recently purchase an orbi, however I am facing Internet issue. Orbi will detect Internet connection for 1 to 2 minutes. There after the connection will drop and never recover again.
When I am using orbi on AP mode, behind my existing router, I am fine.
Tried stock firmware, 1.3.x, 1.4.16 and latest 1.4.34, all having the same issue?
Able to help?

- Mean the ip range of my orbi should be the same as my router?

Don't know much about the Starhub, but is it possible that it's trying to allocate IP's in the same range as the Orbi? If so, trying moving to 10.0.0 vs 192.168.0 private IPs

How to allocated ip?
Starhub is an Internet service provider via fibre ont. I also have voip service as well. Read that I need to set orbi on AP mode rather than router mode??
Will I lose routing capabilities?- MarkC1024Luminary
Presuming that your Internet device coming into your residence isn't assigning IP's to clients, you can look at your other router to determine what IP range it's allocating via DHCP. Then have a look at the Orbi under the Advanced Setup tabs / LAN and match that to be the same as your other router.
I think you need to also understand why/who is recommending the Orbi to be run in AP mode.

Not necessarily, but that would help rule out that element as the problem. If the problem is an IP conflict, and it is currently set different than your router, configuring it the same and then taking the router out of the equation could test that line of thinking. Again, it boils down to understanding why the the Orbi is needing to be put in AP mode to function in your setup. You can leave it like it is behind the router, but if you want to understand the "why", it may take some testing.

If the Orbi works in AP mode, then why not just use it like that?
- Eld212AspirantI am just afraid the interface or some features will be disabled in applying mode
- Eld212AspirantAp mode I mean
- Eld212AspirantTested set orbi to ap mode will not allow me to connect. Error is failure to obtain ip address. Any help? How to set static ip address?

I found the solution, is not about setting orbi to AP, it did not work. The solution was to set MAC to "use computer MAC" instead of default.
I am just curious, why it works?

Something to do with your ISP?
If your ISP requires MAC authentification, then select either Use Computer MAC address to disguise the router's MAC address with the computer's own MAC address, or Use This MAC Address and manually type the MAC address for a different computer. The format for the MAC address is XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX. This value can be changed if Use Computer MAC Address is selected once a value has already been set in the Use This MAC Address selection.
