Orbi MR 2.1 Update 3/23/18
Our teams are still working through the issues, but I wanted to provide a quick update on OrbiOS 2.1. We usually wait to release our software until it's available across all Orbi product lines, but in a departure from our normal processes, we’re going to the release BETA software for our products in a staggered manner. The first wave to be released are only for the RBR50 and RBS50, which is used in the RBK50 and RBK53 (Costco) kits. If you have a kit that includes a different hardware product (including RBK52W, RBK40 series or RBK30 series) or a RBK50 or RBK53 with an add-on satellite (RBS40, RBW30), please hang tight. We’re not quite done with it yet, but will update this thread when it’s ready.
Edit for clarity: This release supports both Circle & Ethernet backhaul
Edit2: Updated with the 2nd wave of firmware for RBR40, RBS40, RBR20 and RBS20. This supports the following SKUs: RBK40, RBK43, RBK44, RBK20, RBK22, RBK23.
Edit3: Updated for RBW30, to support RBK30, RBK33, RBK52W, and others
We’re not yet going to push this release this for auto-firmware upgrade, and will let you know before we do. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Support.
Rel Notes:
- Fixes issues where Internet access is not available on some devices, but available on others.
- Fixes an issue where Satellites get disconnected from Router
- Provides protection for the MDNS packet flood issue
- Addresses an issue where websites set to unmanaged are unreachable
- Multiple other connectivity & RF improvements

I had 2 crashes yesterday and today with new beta firmware :( (yes hard reset)
for a week it would just have random lag but now it full on crashes
I removed my equipment with 10G nics and anything thats outdated and IOT I could think of *bascially down to just 2 laptops and a desktopand still it crashed
(pretty sure If I just left it plugged in with nothing connected to it would crash itself in a week based on its software performance)- FURRYe38Guru - Experienced User
Any wifi neighbors near by? If so, how many?
Try disabling MIMO, Daisy Chain and Fast Roaming. Can leave Beamforming enabled however test this disabled as well.
How big is your home? SqFt?
How close are the satellites from the router? Ft?

The only failure I'm seeing with the new beta firmware for the RBK50 is that my HP printer which is connecting wirelessly at 2.4G will lose it's connection daily. A static IP address seemed to do nothing ... very similar to the earlier posts re: Rainmachine. Only thing that would reset the wifi to the printer was to power cycle it. Perhaps just a limitation in the beta firmware that will get corrected as this was always stable in the past. The beta firmware did stop all of the crazy drops I was seeing recently, even with the prior "safe" auto-update firmware level ... this beta is definitely better in that respect ... harkens back to the good ole days.

Crash and burn 2 days ago. Nothing in the logs that I can see associated with the failure. Required a reboot of the Satellite and the Router.

Try a full factory reset of both router and satellites then setup from scratch.

I am trying to update from V2.1.2.18 to this beta V2.1.3.4 but it only worked on my satellites. When i try to use the same file to update the router i get the following "This firmware file is incorrect! Please get the firmware file again and make sure it is the correct firmware for this product."
Just curious what i am doing wrong. I did download multiple times and it seems to be working on the satellites.
I am in high hopes that this fixes satellites being disconnected because i am at the end of my rope on this issue.
And i just realized that router is actually a different model number. (facepalm)

The router firmware is a differeny file. it will startr with RBR

V2.1.3.4 firmware has been good no crashes for a week (used to happen almsot twice a day)
have noticed some *dns dropping(what my software complains about) related lag if mildly (5-10mbs) using more then 5 devices regardless if LAN or WAN ** havent had time to play with it
also have allot of false DoS attack rst scanns from google/amazon/netflix servers sometimes heavy playback lag of videos is created because of it.
- benj3AspirantJust installed Vers 2.1.3.4 and I am cautiously optimistic. First time my satellite unit has been turned in several months. If it is reasonably stable, I will post kudos for this latest beta firmware.

Any estimate on the bata release for other models?

Have to factory reset satellite and all is well. RBR50 with RBS50 on Ethernet and RBW30 on 5G.
But I have another issue. My RBR50 is behind another router ASUS AC68U so the internet port is not in use.
Internet shows error not connected which is fine.
But the router failed to connect to NTP server and QoS setup fail to connect to speedtest.

use the DMZ on the ASUS router for your Orbi router if your using the Orbi router in router mode. The DMZ will help with being in a double NAT condition.

After months of problems, many calls to support, and an exchanged unit, I’m giving this a shot. Beta FW installed, Satellites and Router factory reset. Beamforming, etc. all enabled. Let’s see how this goes; will update with findings. Thanks everyone for all the feedback on this forum, it helped greatly!

I had the Orbi in AP mode, connected to an ASUS router, then upgraded the FW and did a factory reboot. I now cannot access the config to reset the Orbi back to AP mode. I am able to configure the ssid via the mobile app, however there is no internet connection through the wi-fi. When I move the ethernet cable to a LAN port, there is internet access through the SSIDs but no visibility into the Orbi router.
When the cable is in the WAN port, I'm able to see the assigned IP address on my ASUS router, however when I try to access the orbi router that way it times out. When the ethernet cable is in a Orbi LAN port, I don't see where the IP is assigned in the ASUS router.
How do I get to the configuration menus and be able to get Orbi back to AP mode after the factory reset?

If you want to use the Orbi router in router mode behind the ASUS router, you can use the DMZ feature on the ASUS route for the IP address the orbi router gets from the ASUS router. This helps with this configuration and double NAT condition.

Updated my devices, 1 RBR50 and 3 RBS50, a few days ago. Didn’t do a factory reset or anything and the system has been working great since!
My garage door opener with camera is lightning fast compared to before and never fails (so far).
Nice to finally see a light in the Orbi tunnel...

Well, I had some issues getting the ethernet backhaul working, but doing the satellite only reset fixed that issue. However, today, out of the blue, I had issues crop up: First, one of my satellites just dropped off. Didn't show up in config any longer, and wouldn't connect. Tried doing a reboot, no luck, reset, no luck. Had to unplug ethernet backhaul, reconnect from scratch as a wireless backhaul. Once this came up, it dumped the network, causing all devices to lose connectivity (much like plugging in the ethernet backhaul did before) only no ethernet connected. Powered off the satellite, no luck, router still borked. Powered off the router, then back on again. Router came back up, but now my 2nd satellite is gone. Nothing in config at all, and in fact it's now showing an orbi73 SSID, so it had complete reset itself. I did a manual satellite add and it connected back in. Now, I'm back up on router + 2 satellites, but all on wireless backhaul.

Did you update to this beta and after updating, factory reset both router and Satellite?
When you connect the ethernet cable for back haul, you need to wait about 2-5 minutes for the system to re-configure things and settle down.
Any network swtiches being used between the satellite and router? If so, whats the Mfr and Model#?

I upgraded to beta and factory reset the satellites, but didn't factory reset the router. If I need to factory reset the router to make this work, then it's not a valid image in my opinion and I'll move on to another product; I have too many devices on my network and don't use 10. addressing so a factory reset is VERY time consuming to restore.
I waited more than 15 minutes, all with complete network failure by the way, and still no luck. As I mentioned in the message, the router didn't even show the satellites as devices any longer, then weren't 'disconnected' they were gone completely.
