ORBI RBK53 (AC3000) "No AirPrint Printers Found" After Firmware V2.1.4.10 Installed

Have been running my ORBI RBK53 system for almost a year. AirPrint from multiple iOS devices (1x iOS 9.3.5 & 3x iOS 11.3.1) worked flawlessly until a few days ago. The only thing that changed was the ORBI firmware, which is now at V2.1.4.10. Wi-Fi printing from iMac & Windows is still working but my two AirPrint printers (one HP & one Brother) are reported as "No AirPrint Printers Found".

I have performed the following troubleshooting:

  1. Verified printer settings are unchanged
  2. Performed network port scans
  3. Rebooted ORBI network & printers numerous times
  4. Factory reset of the OBRI units

I have observed the following:

  1. There is NO discovery of AirPrint printers
  2. I can still print via AirPrint if a printer was still listed as a previous printer
  3. Rebooting printer may reenable AirPrint for a very short time
  4. The network scan shows no Bonjour/Zeroconf services

It appears the latest ORBI firmware is suppressing AirPort discovery.

  • I have been running the 2.1.4.10 firmware since last week. Network scan via "Net Analyser" iOS app showed NO Bonjour flags present

I have performed the following additional toubleshooting from my iMac (which is fairly distant from my Comcast/ORBI gateways):

    1. Connect ONLY via my Comcast Wifi Modem:
      1. Powered off ALL ORBI units:
      2. Turned on WiFi on my Comcast Router
      3. Logged in to my Comcast WiFi
      4. Weak signal & slow upload/download speeds
      5. mDNS/Bonjour/AirPrint was rock solid
      6. Network scan via "Net Analyser" iOS app shows Bonjour flags are present
    2. Connect ONLY via ORBI RBK53:
      1. Turned off WiFi on my Comcast Router
      2. Powered on ORBI RBR50 Router
        1. Logged into ORBI WiFi
        2. Better signal & faster (but not max) upload/download speeds
        3. mDNS/Bonjour/AirPrint working. Network scan via "Net Analyser" iOS app shows:
          1. macOS & iOS seem to reliantly report Bonjour as present
          2. AirPrint printers (HP & Brother) sometimes don't report Bonjour as present
        4. Waited
      3. Powered on ORBI RBS50 Satelite closest to my iMac
        1. Max signal & max upload/download speeds
        2. mDNS/Bonjour/AirPrint working
        3. Waited
      4. Powered on final ORBI RBS50 Satelite
        1. Everything working
        2. Waited

While mDNS/Bonjour/AirPrint is still sometimes glitchy. It is working under the 2.1.4.10 firmware after starting the router & satellites in slow sequence.

i have a rbk20 and this issue popped up after upgrade from 2.0 to 2.1.4.10.  I ended up disabling MUMO, Fast Roaming and Beam Forming to fix the AirPrint issue.  I don't know if all or just one option is the cause but I have no patience at this time to further troubleshoot.

BTW: NG's "90 day & then you pay" support is terrible! Heck, Apple (which so many love to compain about) still lets you contact them after 90 days & has a knowledge base for questions & error reports. NG has a paywall & community support!

Something you might want to contact NG support about and ask for help with. Might need to revert to prior working FW.

What FW version was it working on?

Try a factory reset and set up from scratch.

Don't know firmware version prior to update, only that I have never had problems before afew days ago. I have rebooted ORBIs numerous times & performed factory resets/new system config at least 3x.
