Orbi RBR40 Drops Internet only on PC devices

Desperate - We have Orbi router RBR40 and 1 Sat RBS40 It has been fine for 2 + years - all through 1 year on 2 students and 2 home workers -- All of a sudden the internet connection is dropping  but only on some devices mainly lap top PC and Phones   --Roku, Blink, Alexa and others all remain connected - If we have a zoom or Teams meeting going on they keep going, but the same device shows no internet , you can not email or google.

Firmware V2.6.6.104,  20 devices max , same with and without satalite , Reeboots clear it but only for a few hours - random time .

Only factor we came up with is started after the clocks changed.  System clock is current and updated. 5G and 2.4G and wired all have issue/

Messing up midterms big time - This Dad is in trouble please help.

  • RS356   Thank you for the additional info all starting to tie together now ,

Currenlty DST OFF - New server for time Identified - Traffic meter OFF - back rev 1 level on Firmware. 48 hours and holding.

  • I have an Orbi RBR40 with 2 satellites and all has been great for over 2 years.   Two days ago it updated to the latest Firmware version 2.6.2.104 for the Router and 2.6.2.2 for the 2 satellites and we've started to experience the exact same issue described in this thread.   Hardwired connections continue to work without issue.   The wifi drops very frequently each day, although, some existing connections continue.  For example, Roku steam continues.  Our daughter's Zoom class continues but she's unable to open any other tabs due to no connection.  Rebooting the router fixes it for a few hours but then it repeats!

Sorry, to clarify, I was in the Web based Admin portal on the "Firmware update" screen where it showed there was a new firware version available for both the Router and 2 satellites.   I then clicked Update All.  So it wasn't automatic without me knowing but was simply applying the latest version (vs doing a Manual Update).

  • Ditto to all these posts.  Having the exact same problems.  Drops some items while others work fine.  Reboot fixes it for a few minutes then poof

  • Guys, I think it is an issue with the time synchronization going off post DST. I've been having this same issue since DST, but I didn't realize that was when it started until I read this post. I went into the admin section for timezone and it was already off by minutes after a restart. I think it is an issue with the supposed 'netgear NTP'. I manually changed it to us.pool.ntp.org and we'll see if 1. it stays connected and or 2. the time sync issue goes away.

I was advised to just turn off auto DST and all is still working.  For some reason, it would not let me put in another NTP server no matter what I tri

Managed to get back in - Firmware rollback corupted password and question answers - solution - reset via serial number - leave answers to questions blank !  all good ..

followed idea posted by AmishBob - and using NPT server he identified - lets see how it goes - All my troubles started with DST - time was first thing I looked at but I guess just after a reeboot it looked reasonable.
